  • thumbs up if you wanna be a professional broadway singer

  • i prefer Kristen Chenoweth as Gilnda, she is the best in my opinion

  • I was a little thrown off by Idina Menzel's portrayal having seen Rachel Tucker, the current Elphaba, so many times...but it's very interesting. Both takes work, of course. But Idina is more optimistic while Rachel Tucker is so very intense.

  • I thought nobody saw the Wizard. Not nobody, not no how.

  • It is so different with British people in it.

  • Thumbs up if you think Jon Robyns should play Fiyero.

  • LOVE IT

  • i completely forgot that Idina was in the production, and when she entered i jumped. then i said,"oh yeah she was in this production" duh! :)

  • Our show choir a group older than us did this song and we only saw them preform it during rehersals so I thought the words were " Watch your day in the Emerald City " they also did " The merry odd land of Oz" From "the wonderful wizard of Oz" and " He's the Wiz"

  • Is that Adam Garcia?

  • Who is the host??? I've seen him before but I can't for the life of me remember his name or where I've seen him from....

  • @sassysama17 Me too! I was sure that I knew him but I couldn't remember! Then I search and search in Google and I found his name is Adam Garcia! And I've seen him before cause he is Stu Wolf in Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen! Sorry for my english..I'm Latin american...

  • @lulunchi Thank you SO MUCH! I knew I knew him!!! :D I wouldn't have noticed. You're English is great. :)

  • just out of curiosity, what exactly are those three clown like things?

  • The new cast Dee riscioli & Amanda Jane cooper are much better, don't get me wrong this one is awesome too!

  • one shot day :D

  • although i'm british myself, i'm so used to hearing the american version of this so this sounds weird in my opinion XDDDD

  • I like Kristen Chenowith as the original Glinda but this girl is ok :)

  • Watching wicked tonight^^

  • nice! just saw this for the first time, totally sweet idea :)

*keeps singing* "one short day, in the emerald city"

  • i love idina and kristin together <3 i dont like this glinda

  • @Elphie0915 I agree. Idina and Kristin were amazing. I'm really not feeling this Glinda :/ x x

  • I'm British and I still prefer Kristen and Idina :)

  • I just saw the Australian cast on the weekend in Perth and it was amazing! I don't think any other show will ever compare to it. I think it sounds better if they all have the same accent, the Australian cast all put on American accents. It just keeps it flowing if whoever is playing Galinda here put on the same accent as Idina because the change between accents is just annoying. AND NO I'm not being racist, I'm just saying that it would keep a flow. After all in the movie Glinda was American.

  • @tatianamarina95 She was English. I swear she was.

  • @boffinme80 It's hard to tell, because no one actually speaks like that. But it sounds American with lots of articulation, so every letter is pronounced very well. She had a very bubbly voice also, with a lot of character in it so it masks an accent. I just think that keeping the same accent throughout the performance is a lot nicer, that's all.

  • @tatianamarina95 She had an English accent in the film. :/

  • I don't like this casting for Galinda. she doesn't have the right chemistry with Idina, and distracts from Idina's talent if that's even possible.

  • @KristaAshleigh I agree, I prefer Kristen and Idina I just think they sound better together

  • It gave me goosebumps it is so much better than broadway

  • Nothing beats actually being there in person. I went to watch the one in Australia with the Australian cast in the city that I live in. They were amazing.

I just wish I could watch it over and over

  • That Glinda is not as good as Kristen her voice is too squeky but Idina amazing my hero!!!!

  • does anyone else think that this is the best thing that England and America have made together?

  • that wasn't short enough!

  • whats up with those clown things? creepy...

  • Saw this for the second time this week. I forgot how amazing it is <3

  • Rachel Tucker is THE best.

  • It's interesting linguistically that the English version of this song is much more clipped, the language is more percussive and properly enunciated instead of the American version of this song, where the words blend together a lot more... Don't prefer one over the other, but its interesting and really reflecting on the cultures :D

  • @Jragir Oh you don't have to be that nice - we speak like we're drunkards compared to the English.

  • This song always reminds me of those songs they play at Disney World parades!

  • This song always reminds me of one of those songs they play at Disney World parades!

  • someone didn't balance the microphones properly so it really doesn't sound as good as it could. i went and saw the Australian production and to be honest it was quite a bit better.

  • @MickiG967 It might sound off because Edina Mezel was actually suffering from Bronchitas at the time. She Stiill sounds better then most though

  • @Duncansbaby fair enough. and yeah she is better than most, she'll always be my fav

  • what is the name of that guy at the beginning?

  • @ismini14 adam garcia

  • This Glinda I'm sorry to say is not the best. I just can't get into it with her. She just doesn't suit the part. But that's just what I think :)

  • The leads in this rendition are interesting, they seem more like the characters in the movie. As in, well. Elfaba looks and sounds a lot more like the wicked witch if the west, and Glinda looks more like the good witch, the roundish face, I think.

  • helen dallimore is like the worst Glinda ever.

  • 感動した!

  • prefer the aussie cast...

  • When I saw Wicked in London, the Galinda put on an american accent, which I think I liked better tbh. This is nice too though.

  • Idina Menzel seems so giddy...and England is known for being droppy and drowsy...

  • @GreatBroadwayFan HAHAHAHHA oh my god are you being serious?

  • 0:00-0:20 hawtness

  • I can't get Wicked in the British accent xD it's because of soundtrack is all Broadway..

  • We're doing this for choir and in one of our rehearsals our animateur's voice was going, so she said 'the wizard ... will be loud'! It was fricking hilarious, but I guess you probably had to be there to appreciate it

  • WICKED FANS we would love to hear from you. Search Repeat Attenders on Facebook for more.

  • I feel sorry for Idina having to get her face paint on and off every night :/ :')

  • no offense but i think the american version of one short day is alot better that the london version but its an amazing play and theyre both amazing performances

  • Ok respond to me if you go to perry hall and if u are singing this for choir:)

  • Idina must've felt so out of place...

    But either way, nice job.

Did they slow the tempo at the end? :(

  • Normally I don't like music like this I like alternative but thus is pretty good I mean I can picture it as the wizard of oz with a rock band

  • I have the sheet music for Wicked, Avenue Q, Children of Eden, Phantom of the Opera, Next to Normal, Shrek the Musical, Spring Awakening, The Little Mermaid (Broadway), Thoroughly Modern Millie, and more. If you ever need/want it, just shoot me a message :)

  • we're singing this for chorus :)

  • In the book Elphaba is not happy to be in emrald city she is proststing Animal rights (yes with a capital a)

  • @sgc002222

Yeah, the book and the musical are COMPLETELY different, but ah well. They both have their charms.

  • i long to preform this play for millions

  • Why do people always be rude about the English Glinda's just because of the accents. I think that is really rude and out of order. Except these girls are brilliant and I love this. Well Done

  • @40delboy40 They're really talking about Helen Dallimore, who I don't like either. But anyone else talking about the English accents is extremely immature and indeed very rude. People who complain are just retarded spoilt brats who want everything their way. So what if they don't sound the same?? I love Wicked but I HATE extremist fans.

They;re the ones who pick on the accent and make a huge deal out of it when it's really the smallest thing to worry about.

  • No matter wear wicked is performed it's always amazing.

  • @crazydancer900 its where.

  • I quite like Helen as Glinda. She's not my favourite but she's by no means the worst.

  • @MaybeRumpel I agree! She's a little bit of all right. A bloody good, Glinda.

  • we're doing this at my skwl<3

  • Idina was part of the London Cast for a little over two months.

  • I think when I went I saw her as Elphaba. She was fantastic, especially in the Popular scene. Every actress does something different with that scene, and hers was one of my favourite. :D

  • i love how the brits and americans unite and make a great sounding collaboration

  • @MrMrchopper actually they didn't purposefully bring idina menzel over just to be in it. she was part of the original west end cast in 2006 she wouldn't be in this performance if someone else got the part.

  • @MrMrchopper I think Helen is English but did live in Austraila :)

  • BONGGA!!!!

  • those puppets make me laugh :L :L we'e doing this song, im elphaba :) xx

  • @Smithy87stuff it better be good

  • @alexcheeze16 it was :)

  • i saw rachel tucker, she's amazing!! =D

  • @chezziebabes95 Me Too :L

  • @chezziebabes95 So did I! Best Elphaba in my opinion:)

  • i always thought that glinda would have a british accent but i still love kristen

  • No, Elleskellybob is right about Kristin and Idina. They sound like perfection together. But I say this Glinda is really good and we need to keep open to the talents of all the actors.

  • So Idina did Broadway, then London?

I almost failed my government exam today because I couldn't get this song out of my head..

  • The "prince"... is he the one from Coyote Ugly???

  • Kristen is the one and only glenda...

  • i dont like this glinda :P i luv this elphaba..shes the best :D

  • @DanLova136 This is Idina Menzel of course she's the best! xD

  • Until just about 3 weeks ago I thought that Idina would be the one and only Elphaba. But now I have to correct me and reccomend Willemijn Verkaik to all of you. She's the best Elphaba I've ever seen and will ever see.

  • YEAH IDINA! :D

  • I think Glinda sounds more natural with a British accent.

  • this glinda has a touch of soprano syndrome at the end.... i like it :)

  • Okay, it's not like I'm a Kristin-ist, some of my favourite Galindas are Megan Hilty, Katie Rose Clarke, and Annaleigh Ashford. But this girl kind of gets on my nerves, I feel like she's overdoing it.

  • love the preforming arts. I love dance theater and music.

  • I went to see Wicked in London todayy and the current cast was absolutely amazingg! I think that each actress brings something new and different to the character they play, so I can't really judge (: Besides, I think they are all amazingly good at singing and better then I could ever do XD Bayy x

  • @bayseaside Same here around the same time. I so agree. They were FANTASTIC!

  • Does it matter who's who and where they're from? Everybody's spectacular so enjoy it! :) xx

  • I love the West End cast ♥

  • we sang this song for are big choir show case and defying gravity and popular and changed for good.. we did pretty good. i love this musicale

  • we have to sing this song =D

  • I love the costumes!! they did an amazing job so stop hating!!

  • @stradivariuscello7

ummm this was a performance for the royal variety show and not that actual set!!!

  • @naughtylilkt1 I missed that, sorry. And after viewing this more I can honestly say that it's really grown on me. I like this pairing of accents more than I thought I would.

  • I know lots of people are complaining about their accents and diction, but I like it...

does that make me evil >:) ?

  • @ClanlessCaracal no. it makes you wicked (;

  • um why have they got an american elphaba and an english glinda :S

  • I really don't like this Glinda at all! Her voice kinda grinds my last nerve.

  • Comment removed

  • @japanesedawn That was your fault for being so rude in the first place, bitch. You think no one would react after seeing your comment? You just got me as well.

  • Comment removed

  • "the wizard'll see you now!"

    --> best. line. ever

  • My choir is singing this song in a concert. In fact, I'm in the car with my iPhone on the way to the school! Can't wait! This is everyones favorite song! (other songs are pets call the whole thing off and why we sing) I kno. Sux right! Only 3 songs! But the band is playing 2. I'm gonna stop this comment b4 it gets 2 long. Wait... 2 late. =/

  • Either way..It takes talent to play Elphaba or Glinda..Anybody, who plays either role has Thier own talents..all of them are Wonderful.. even though, my heart will forever think of Kristin and Idina whenever I think of Wicked :3..lol..Those things @ 2:56 Still scare me thoughXD

  • I find it odd that Idina Menzel has an American accent while no one does.

Also, this galinda is obviously "a english ditz" and the american galindas are the "american dumb blond". It's partially because of the accent though. Obviously this show has evolved some since it opened in London. Their voices don't quite blend in this version but other galindas and elphabas are just good as the OBC.

  • even though i'm english, when the english sing songs from a musical, it completely ruins it!! they really over emphasise their articultion, and after a while it gets reeeaallly annoying!! helen dalllimore is a perfect example!

  • @musiklovebird

I don't like the way the cast overdo their accents here, but seriously not all the casts in the UK are like this!

I'm English as well and I do not agree with you at all that we always over emphasise our words. Americans don't always say the "t" so it sounds like "ci-ee" .

The newer casts in Wicked London don't sound like this anymore. They just sing it normally.

  • @boffinme80 you guys are only talking about kristin and the cast except idina

  • @LYCmooshki

No that's not true. I love Idina as well.

  • @LYCmooshki i didnt mean to say kristin i meant glinda

  • @boffinme80 no ... we just pronounce it like "ci-dee"

  • @musiklovebird Helen Dallimore is actually from Australia, not England

  • kristen is still the best glinda.

  • omg this glinda is SOOO ANNOYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Idina - amazing as always!

  • Kristen and Idena are 100,000,000,000 times better. These people are off key.

  • @jelbazjunkmail not at all. There accents just simply contradict. BTW that is Idina.

  • Love this song, lol. So cheerful and upbeat, but if you've read the book it makes you a little nervous because you know what happens after it. Notfair so many people are forced to go their seperate ways when their dreams take them in different directions or someone like the wizard and Madame Morrible backstabs somebody.

  • @palmtree5678 I know! It's kind of sad that it happens, especially to Elphie. I mean, she's hated all her life and her one chance isn't the one she stands for.

Also, after reading the book, I saw the musical and was looking at the stage kind of happy-and-sad. You kind of think, "Hey, Elphie, enjoy this moment..."

Well, anyways... splendid song, and you can't deny that WICKED IS SWANKIFIED! ^.^

  • so in this production did nessa have a british accent or american accent since she is elphaba's sister?

  • so that guy woz fiyero at the start, right?

  • fiyero is not in this video

  • Comment removed

  • i like kristin chenoweth better as galinda/glinda

  • Ha, I love how Idina even looks good playing a green witch in a black dress. She's so pretty :D

  • Not Idina...

  • @TechnicolorYear except its not idina, this is the london cast

  • awesome diction

  • Yea we r playing this in chorus vv who r u I'm koraly

  • Were singing this song in choir. Fun!

  • I like this cast a LOT! But... Glinda... really now? I'm not going to compare her to anyone. Not Kristin, Megan, or Annaleigh, or any other Glinda, because these women don't need to have their careers brought down by this woman right here.

  • Comment removed

  • emmmm.. idina isnt in the london cast ?! she is elphaba in broadway ...

  • @ellaandlis

Idina was Elphaba in both the London, and original Broadway cast.

  • that's the same speech they had Joel Grey read for the Tony's

  • stop comparing every glinda to kristin. shes too old to play that part forever. someone has to take over. youre nothing but haters who cant sing better than this girl

  • @z858978 she's not that old she's like 40 ...lol... but still she's not that old

  • @z858978

Chill out Kristin Kicks ASS! yea eventualy someone has to take her place but this chick doesnt even compair! shes not perky enough shes blah!!

  • @SwammyJayne I agree, kristen is absolutly amazing. SHE TAKES THE ROLE SO INTERESTINLY!

  • @z858978

I'm being kinda hypocritial... but, i agree.

  • @z858978 i agree on the haters part but do you ever really get TOO OLD? i think even today she would pro-try that role the same way she did 7 or so years ago. let chenoweth live on forever!!!

  • @z858978 FOR REAL!

  • @z858978 just becasue every galinda is being compaered to her, doesn't mean they're hating.

  • @japanesedawn

SHUT UP!!!! Do you realise how fucking annoying you are?!!

Kristin IS indeed much better and my second favourite Glinda (Lucy Scherer is my favourite Glinda and Willemijn my favourite Elphaba) I love Idina and I don't like Helen either but do you really think it's neccessary to hate an ENTIRE British cast just because they're not American and how they pronounce their T's?? Huh! Americans say "ciDee" city is spelt with a "t" you retard!

  • @japanesedawn

Every production is different and I hope you respect other Glindas and Elphabas as much as Idina and Kristin!!

If you're a die-hard fan who doesn't like to take credit for any other actresses OR a British production then you can shut your fucking ugly big gob and piss off!!!!

    Stop being so fucking judgemental!!

  • its blurred thou..

  • This sucked

  • Thanks, in school we are doing the song 'One Short Day' and this is the exact clip we are going to use for our Singing and Dancing, and this helped me :D

  • wow, this galinda really makes you love kristin. because this chick is not good, noway

  • @horsejumpergurl107 whats so wrong with her? she sbetter than a lot of galindas here like annaleigh, and kate.

  • the new elphebas from 29th march will be rachel tucker and the new glinda will be louise dearman

  • @sportc410 Just wondering kate who?
