Don't use a milky moisturizer if you can't - use a 'water gel'. This is a water based moisturiser which will hydrate your skin but with much less oil. depending on personal needs, you can choose one that is more watery or less, but moisturizing is ESSENTIAL and it is a complete beauty sin to go without it. Your face becomes oily because you don't have enough oil in the first place, so moisturizing does work, trust me.

guys i use this foundation and it is awesome. BUT i have been on a quest to hide my acne scars and the concealer doesn't fill them in. now i use this concealer for the discoloration and a new product called dermaflage to hide the deep scars. the combo works great! my skin looks perfect.
OMG DONT USE MINERAL POWDER!!!!!!!!!! seriouslyyy its proven to have an ingredient that actually causes breakouts during the long run! i watched a video with a lady explaining this but i just cant seem to find it! trusttt me its not a good idea to use there powder! im not trying to bash bare minerals there products are quiet good! but the powders and setting powders will cause acne the more u use it! not only for me but for anyone who uses it, it actually took 3 years to show up on some people.
Really? thats hard to believe but i guess it could be possible. thats interesting. i am not a huge fan of bare minerals becasue it just doesnt cover very well and i think it is way over hyped for the quality your actually getting. I guess i will stop buying maybe cause i do use there "warmth" bronzer powder.
@lizrocks23 i swear ive tried looking so hard for the lady who actually showed the study of bare minerals on youtube for me to send u the link so u cn believe me but i just couldnt find it! im just telling you about it so that you can prevent yourself from getting worse acne since i know what that could feel like trust me :(
Some people say that this foundation is better applied with a brush.I'm confused. But I do have a brush and a sponge so I will try it both when I buy the foundation. This video really helped. Thanks :)
@chhaachaa No, not if you get thin enough layers. It might look a bit cakey the first few times you try it just because you'll probably use more than you need at first, but after that you'll quickly get the hang of it.
@aNGELICA88 I suggest you to go for the natural one.. Others definitely have side effects.. I think you should try this skin remedies that ive been using these days.. Its all in the site StopAcneNow.co.cc.. My skin cleared up after a couple of weeks..:)
It's not particularly just for the full coverage if it. I have good skin and break out in a couple of spots like every 3 months, I only use it because its the only foundation I've found to stay completely matte all day long because I have very oily skin and I'll shine through anything in less then half an hour.
seriously thank you so much for this video. my skin has recently began flaring up like crazy (thanks adult onset acne at 23 after perfect skin in my teens) and this video is going to help so much for the crazy pigmented scarring i'm getting on my super pale skin. thankyouthankyou!
Just letting you know that if you have oily skin you should moisturize even more as if you don't moisturize your skin will produce more oil if it feels it is not getting enough moisture :)
@evarosegallagher I was just going to mention that. Then I noticed someone already did :) As they say...more is less. More moisture means less over-production of sebum.
Also, do you have any advice, because i find, the revlon colorstay doesnt stay for a long time, like a few hours later it looks like i was never wearing any to begin with!
This is great.Gosh.At least you don't have deep scars.I tried your method and it does work just that my deep scars can be seen very obvious and those minor like yours dissappears. : ) Hmm..I wish i don't have deep scars.haish.
I don't get acne as bad but I'm glad I seen this video because now I know how to deal with these sudden breakouts I always get before my period (: thank you
This is one of the best tutorials i've seen for acne skin. My daughter will be too excited. Thanks so much. But can I ask why would you use a colorstay concealar?
@kareemtiheed I tried it but didn't like it. I had tried many concealers at this point and just couldn't find something that worked as well as using the foundation on a small brush. This was 2 years ago though, and I can recommend the Maybelline SuperStay concealer now. It's super pigmented, dries to a smudge proof finish and won't budge.
Great detailed tut! I'm happy that saw this, because I was about to go and purchase THE BLENDING Sponge, but not anymore. I believe I can get the same results with the $0.99 pack, if I cant, I'm merely out of a dollar-LOL... Thx for the good info.
Hi! This is the first video I watch from you and I have to say that I absolutely love you!!! You sound/look like a really nice person and I think you're truly beautiful. Thank you for sharing this video with us, it really helps! Not everyone has the courage to show their acne on camera and I really respect you for that. You're helping a lot of people here!
I'm now going to proceed to watching every single one of your video! :D
i hv used it.it's the best foundation.it works at best in humid weather......no breakout, gives full coverage,i gv it 10 out of 10........but the ill luck is it iz no more available in Pakistan:( now i dishearteningly used mabilline matte dream mouse which really disappointed me as expected....zero coverage, melts away and gvs a weird look in summers.
OMGGGG your a lifesaver! I'm not kidding you taught me how to do my foundation and actually cover my acne and scars up!! I'm 17 and this has pretty much been the only method that has worked on me. Thank you so much!!
check out dermaflage- nothing works better to conceal indented acne scars because it actually fills them in. It also works for scars left from mole removal, chicken pox, car accidents, etc.
i have exactly the same problem as you, it's only the scars that are left remaining. I just bought the Revlon colorstay foundation 'cause ive read a lot of good reviews on it, but havent tried it yet. will def try your routine out when i do tomorrow! thanks a lot. :)
How do you think this would work for indented scars on the face. I have one very indented scar by my mouth that's a pain to cover and is next to impossible to cover.
@Got2BarrelRace4Life You should try a silicone primer underneath your makeup. I have a few small indentations from old acne scarring on my cheek and the primer helps fill in the space before I put my foundation on.
i'm one of the lucky ones and have about 5 spots in 6 years. I have been thinking about getting this and the coverage seems amazing - i have red blotchy skin and it's been hard to find a foundation but reviews on colourstay are amazing.
I was avoiding because of the pump but i just ordered a foundation brush for it XD
I have the exact opposite of your acne scarring :S All of my scarring is on my forehead and on the skin right next to my nose. It's not red, in face they're just all these frikkin brown spots. It is literally EVERYWHERE and so hard to cover. I'm gonna try this and hope it works.
@pinkee2007 It will eventually go away. This video is 2 years old, if you see some of my new ones when I'm not wearing foundation the difference is dramatic but you still can see some faint ones hanging on for dear life. Oil cleansing, exfoliating and time has helped mine fade.
@CrazyAsianPopQueen Sorta, but not really. The colors look different on the outside. What I like to do is shake the bottle then open it and look at the top of the lid, you'll see the real color of foundation because there will be a little glob of it stuck there. I don't touch it or take any out of the bottle to make sure I don't contaminate it for someone else.
thank you for this tut. At the beginning of this vid, I didn't think you'd be able to cover the blemishes as well as you did in a way that looked natural. But, you did! Thank you for showing me how.
My skin is somewhat like yours, with acne blemishes, both reddish and brownish. But problem is, my boyfriend hates it when my makeup rubs off on him sometimes. I've resorted to make-uo-frever's fix*mist setting spray, which has helped, but still, do you have any tips on preventing smudging? I'd love to be able to just go out w/o concealing but well, a girl's gotta look good :) Thanks! Love your videos! xxx
@likruuz Are you using a long wearing makeup? A long wear formula shouldn't smudge off, for foundation I like Almay TLC, Revlon Colorstay or I've also heard good things about Maybelline SuperStay but I haven't tried their foundation yet. A lot of people like Estee Double Wear or Double Wear Light? Active? something like that, but I wasn't a fan. For a long wearing concealer the SuperStay is great, I just got it recently and I'm impressed.
Thank you for this video. I watched a bunch of other tutorials and wasn't crazy about using a brush because since it's long-lasting makeup, it's hard to clean off, which to me equals breakouts. I also like that since you wet the sponge, you didn't have to race to apply the makeup before it dried out. Great video!
@zibaroy It's not going to help it to stop flaking, but you can still get a great looking application if you exfoliate and moisturize before applying it.
I LIKE TO PUT MY LIQUID FOUNDATION, THEN MIX A TINY BIT WITH HARD CANDY'S GLAMOFLAUGE HEAVY DUTY CONCEALER. PUT THAT ON WITH A FLUFFY BRUSH IN AREAS THAT NEED IT AND FINISH OFF WITH MILANI EVEN TONE POWDER FOUNDATION. PEOPLE STOP AND ASK ME WHAT I USE BECAUSE MY SKIN LOOKS SO PERFECT.....AND IT REALLY ISN'T LOL.
Hi! Amazing video! I also have very oily skin and sunscreen was always a problem to me. But I found just one sunscreen that works even on the summer days: it's "ROC Minesol Oil Control" with SPF 30. You really should try it, if you didn't yet. Thanks again for the great tips!
@KatieLoveHope For clearing it up I can't even put into words how much oil cleansing nightly with olive oil, Lush Fresh Farmacy cleanser and Lush Grease Lightning as an all over serum has done for me. This video is from 2 yrs ago, if you watch my new vids(especially the ones without foundation on) you'll see my real skin looks better than the finished makeup application does here.
@glintzy I learned about oil cleansing awhile ago and wish Id known as a teen.I still need to do it but I couldve saved myself lots of hyperpigmentation had I known.I hate the way they market things that make the acne worse!
QUICK TIP: to reduce redness (acne scars) use Loreal's green primer it really does work...and it helps keep your makeup thruought the day. It wont prevent them or help clearing them but it sure helps make them less visible when you wear foundation It's arround $10. Hope that helped :)
@MsRajeah You only have to use it once if you want, or if you put it some place clean until the next day you could use one side the first day and the opposite side the second day. I do have a video up on how to wash the sponges if you're interested in using them longer.
uhh i commented this already but still this is my favourite make up video on whole youtube, just because it shows the most dramatic transformation and you actually have acne scars here not like others crying and complaning about scars and pimples yet they have none or few :P you're the best at covering and a clean canvase is the most important thing in anybodys make up routine, forget the eyes , shadows, lipps , skin on your face is #1.
hi girl how are you, I'm writing u from Mexico, so, I found your videos by accident and I loved it, especially the tutorials about makeup, tutorials really help me!! Thank u so muuch!!
Excellent vid! I'm totally subscribing just because it was so inspirational! I myself use Revlon ColourStay for the level of coverage and the wonderful texture this liquid foundation has to offer and am constantly recommending it to everyone I know. You did a beautiful job covering your scarring, loved your tips! Also, I loved that you talked about alternate ways of getting spf coverage since it is so important these days.
You look beautiful. Btw, like someone mentioned, why not use a corrector (in green)? It helps with the red. I have red around my nose and chin, which I despise. It's not crazy but it's pinkish red. Grrrr. Lol.
This is exactly how I do my makeup. Im so glad someone else uses the same routine as me! Especially because I realize how much makeup I use. The only difference is that I use physicians formula loose mineral powder :)
thanks for the idea of using a tiny brush I just use a sheer foundation on most of my face and on blemishes a tiny brush with my estee lauder concealer :)
@l6z11n It shouldn't, but you do need to remove it correctly. If you're not taking it all off that could potentially cause breakouts. A regular cleanser usually ins't enough to take it off since it's long wearing. I recommend a pre-mixed oil cleanser, brands like Shu, Mac, Lumene, DHC and a lot of other brands offer these, or I recommend using a skin safe oil such as olive oil. I personally use olive oil and love it, I have a vid up on it if you're curious. =)
@sheisadorable1 The brush is by Chanel. I've had a lot of people tell me that ELF makes one super similar though. If I ever lose this one I'll be buying the ELF too. =)
try the neutrogena skinclearing foundation, it really cuts down oily skin, my cousin has really really oily skin and when she used the neutrogena skinclearing foundation, it helped control her oily skin really well, && her major acne cleared up alot.
I love your video and your coverage technique. I was very excited to try it with the Revlon Colorstay foundation. The coverage worked great, but I'm not impressed with the Revlon Colorstay. It does last forever, but the formula for dry/combination skin and it still leaves my face very tight and a little cakey. I had a terrible time with dry skin around my eyes with this product. I use olive oil and coconut oil as moisturizer sometimes. It was very tight/dry even with the EVO or CO.
MAD props for showing your real skin! Even juicystar07 kinda chose a good day to use her HD camera with no makeup xD!! Its pretty encouraging because you can't see much on camera and it looks like ALL beauty gurus have perfect skin!
great vid...those with acne: foundation clogs pores and breaks u out, so use benzoyl peroxide with a combination of clindamycin, i get mines free prescription, im ALL CLEAR and i can now withstand foundation :)
u didn't have to start talking and i like ur vid already. it's so hard to find someone who can speak for those with extreme problematic skins, eg, ridiculously oily face, pores the size that u can throw a dart from 2 miles away and acne issues. having make up on will further clog the pores and then vicious cycles start, u get inflammation, then acnes... etc etc. so sometimes if i don't use make up i look like shit, if i do use make up, i am not letting my skin breathe. So thanks for vid!
Thank you so much. My face has been crazy breaking out lately and nothing has worked. I have viewed many Revlon Colorstay videos and had settled on that product and now I know how to use it to get GREAT results. I'll let you know how it works!!! Thanks for such detailed tips. I'm also going to maybe try the Mederma as one reviewer posted, but I have to check the ingredients first.
i found a great way to help with acne scars, i recommend you go out and try mederma, for scaring and put it on every night and it has helped me alot! :)
omg you're a life saver ! my prom is like in 3 days and i NEEDED to find a way to cover my scarring.. i have the SAME scarring as you do ! so i'ma practice today the make up and if it comes out good, then i'ma do it on saturdayyy ! but i think it'll work our great ! thank you !
Have you tried retin-A or tazorac for the scarring? I started using it for a few years and I love it! I really like your videos :)

Does the scarring go away over time? I have had acne for a few months now; it's getting better, but it isn't going away :(
pinkee2007 6 months ago
@pinkee2007 It will eventually go away. This video is 2 years old, if you see some of my new ones when I'm not wearing foundation the difference is dramatic but you still can see some faint ones hanging on for dear life. Oil cleansing, exfoliating and time has helped mine fade.

does the bottle color match close to your face skin when you compare?? please answer back asap. thanks! this video helps alot!
CrazyAsianPopQueen 6 months ago
@CrazyAsianPopQueen Sorta, but not really. The colors look different on the outside. What I like to do is shake the bottle then open it and look at the top of the lid, you'll see the real color of foundation because there will be a little glob of it stuck there. I don't touch it or take any out of the bottle to make sure I don't contaminate it for someone else.

thank you for this tut. At the beginning of this vid, I didn't think you'd be able to cover the blemishes as well as you did in a way that looked natural. But, you did! Thank you for showing me how.
tampay1 7 months ago
My skin is somewhat like yours, with acne blemishes, both reddish and brownish. But problem is, my boyfriend hates it when my makeup rubs off on him sometimes. I've resorted to make-uo-frever's fix*mist setting spray, which has helped, but still, do you have any tips on preventing smudging? I'd love to be able to just go out w/o concealing but well, a girl's gotta look good :) Thanks! Love your videos! xxx
likruuz 7 months ago
@likruuz Are you using a long wearing makeup? A long wear formula shouldn't smudge off, for foundation I like Almay TLC, Revlon Colorstay or I've also heard good things about Maybelline SuperStay but I haven't tried their foundation yet. A lot of people like Estee Double Wear or Double Wear Light? Active? something like that, but I wasn't a fan. For a long wearing concealer the SuperStay is great, I just got it recently and I'm impressed.

peoplewithaznpride 7 months ago
Thank you for this video. I watched a bunch of other tutorials and wasn't crazy about using a brush because since it's long-lasting makeup, it's hard to clean off, which to me equals breakouts. I also like that since you wet the sponge, you didn't have to race to apply the makeup before it dried out. Great video!

I have very flaky skin dose this foundation gonna help my skin? and thanks for video ..
zibaroy 7 months ago
@zibaroy It's not going to help it to stop flaking, but you can still get a great looking application if you exfoliate and moisturize before applying it.

Will this work okay with active breakouts?
HanMonGal 7 months ago
@HanMonGal Yes, just be careful when removing it that you don't irritate the active ones.

Thank You so much for sharing I'm currently dealing with teenage acne and its frustrating and embarrasing. Any tips?
KatieLoveHope 7 months ago
@KatieLoveHope For clearing it up I can't even put into words how much oil cleansing nightly with olive oil, Lush Fresh Farmacy cleanser and Lush Grease Lightning as an all over serum has done for me. This video is from 2 yrs ago, if you watch my new vids(especially the ones without foundation on) you'll see my real skin looks better than the finished makeup application does here.
glintzy 7 months ago
@glintzy I learned about oil cleansing awhile ago and wish Id known as a teen.I still need to do it but I couldve saved myself lots of hyperpigmentation had I known.I hate the way they market things that make the acne worse!
79blt 7 months ago
@79blt You're right, I couldn't agree more. It's all about money though, if you continue to have acne they continue to have sales. =/
glintzy 7 months ago
also, what about using rose water to moisten the brush or sponge? It was astringent properties and helps to set makeup.
79blt 7 months ago
thanks so much, I do this everyday now :)
LexxyG101 7 months ago
QUICK TIP: to reduce redness (acne scars) use Loreal's green primer it really does work...and it helps keep your makeup thruought the day. It wont prevent them or help clearing them but it sure helps make them less visible when you wear foundation It's arround $10. Hope that helped :)

hello. how many times do i have to use the sponge before i throw it away?
MsRajeah 7 months ago
@MsRajeah You only have to use it once if you want, or if you put it some place clean until the next day you could use one side the first day and the opposite side the second day. I do have a video up on how to wash the sponges if you're interested in using them longer.
glintzy 7 months ago

@MsRajeah you only use the sponge once. You can use it twice, one day use one side, the other day use the other side.

uhh i commented this already but still this is my favourite make up video on whole youtube, just because it shows the most dramatic transformation and you actually have acne scars here not like others crying and complaning about scars and pimples yet they have none or few :P you're the best at covering and a clean canvase is the most important thing in anybodys make up routine, forget the eyes , shadows, lipps , skin on your face is #1.

If lotion is too oily for your face, you could try baby lotion, it works good and absorbs really well.

Grrrr. Lol.

does the foundation cause break out on active acne?
l6z11n 8 months ago in playlist FOUNDATION REVIEWS AND IDEAS
@l6z11n It shouldn't, but you do need to remove it correctly. If you're not taking it all off that could potentially cause breakouts. A regular cleanser usually ins't enough to take it off since it's long wearing. I recommend a pre-mixed oil cleanser, brands like Shu, Mac, Lumene, DHC and a lot of other brands offer these, or I recommend using a skin safe oil such as olive oil. I personally use olive oil and love it, I have a vid up on it if you're curious. =)

It was very tight/dry even with the EVO or CO.

u didn't have to start talking and i like ur vid already. it's so hard to find someone who can speak for those with extreme problematic skins, eg, ridiculously oily face, pores the size that u can throw a dart from 2 miles away and acne issues. having make up on will further clog the pores and then vicious cycles start, u get inflammation, then acnes... etc etc. so sometimes if i don't use make up i look like shit, if i do use make up, i am not letting my skin breathe.
