@racertech12 THis year will be the first time it is released in bottles. Im hoping to be able to get a few and will def be reviewing this one for sure!
I've gotten three six packs that were obviously off. it literally tasted like cheap coffee with awful vodka added to it. I called their quality department and they never got back to me. Be careful with this one. Oh, I should add that I have had a good representation of this beer, there are just a few bad ones out there.
@brnthchldrn Ive heard rumors that there have been a few bad eggs out there. I fortunately havent had one yet! I would be pissed if I shelled out the cash though for a bad one
I just had the 11' KBS this past weekend along side a Bourbon county stout and Parabola, and KBS was the winner of the three. The drinkability is what really separates KBS from the other two. It is the essence of an A+ and that mouthfeel, Oh boy!!!
@infomercialsucks KBS is an amazing beer and honestly one I always try to get a tleast a 4 pack every year of. WIth this said I think Parabola this year is a bit more complex and just as easy to drink. But I love the chocolate quality of the KBS. Thats the kicker for me
my favorite beer of all time... so far...i am hoping to ge a few bottles just to enjoy... i see you got the cigar city hunapae as well... im hoping to try this some time... but ill probably have to wait one more year...
Your review is spot-on. I love this beer, and will certainly look forward to it next year when it's released. This and Goose Island's Bourbon County Stout are my favorite barrel-aged RIS, let's hope that GI selling out to AB/InBev doesn't mean we'll be getting Beechwood-aged County Stout Light in the future!
Don't hold on to the Red Poppy too long. I've heard it fades a lot if you age it.
I'd like to try this one fresh. Hopefully Daniel can get me a couple bottles out to me soon. The other is getting aged. I have a bottle of the 2010. Vertical?!?!
how many bottles were you able to get? here in chicago my binnys only got one case and had a single bottle limit, thank god for the wife, so should i cellar my single bottle or drink it fresh, i was leaning toward cellaring it
@egoo33 I like them, but I don't bother with Binny's for limited-release popular beers. Everybody flocks to them when they are released and they fly off the shelves in no time. I tell my favorite smaller liquor stores ahead of time of what's coming out that I want, usually one or two come through and get it. I was able to get two bottles from one, and a 4-pack from another (could have gotten a few more 4-packs if I wanted, but I don't like to horde, plus there are other beers I need to try)
Im soooo envious! Sounds like a really good brew. I have had the regualr Breakfast Stout which is awsome, so would love to try this one sometime. But great review Chris! Cheers!
Really loved the bourbon, chocolate and coffee tastes for the 2011 KBS. Insanely hard to get up here in Canada, but I was able to grab 2 bottles from a great friend. What do you think about aging them? Good idea?
hey man how does this rate to Canadian Breakfast Stout. CBS comes out oct 3 and couldnt find a cbs review by you man let me know

My friend in Ann Arbor couldn't get it the day after it was released. I guess it'll be another year before I'll get a chance to taste it.

@StumpyJoeJr Thats weird considering its a sour. They usually age really nicely. WOnder what they did differently with this one.

Nicely done. Haven't decided if I want to do a formal review of the 2011 release yet, since I already did the 2010 and the whole release day video.
Epic epic beer... and you even pulled a Daniel and dropped the f-bomb. Cheers!

@HalloweenUmi Yah this beer was built for aging! Ive got a bunch in the cellar.
BeerGeekNation 11 months ago
@HalloweenUmi I've heard that the coffee notes fade when it's aged, so unless I heard wrong, I would probably drink one fresh and age the other one.
