  • Exactly. Sorry for the confusion. Physicists always measure the angle relative to the normal (the imaginary line perpendicular to the boundary between media). In other words, total internal reflection [TIR] occurs at glancing angles to the interface, the flat edge of the plastic piece. If the light enters the plastic at right angles to the straight edge, most of the light exits the prism without reflecting.

  • oh..were you changing the angle according to the edge of the semicirlce or the normal line??

  • hi um...doesnt TIR occur when the incidence ray is less steep. If its less steep, the incidence ray would be bigger...so when its larger than the Critical Angle it will reflect completely..

    I'm not totally sure, perhaps you could explain it to me? :) thank you! I have my exams coming up and this is a topic for physics.
