Been fishing there since the mid sixties. It has totaly changed. I stopped fishing here about a dozen years ago. Too many people all over the place. And I don't mean fisherman either. Once saw a couple of guys going down stream in a canoe a few days after a heavy rain storm. I knew at that time it didn't have long to go.
@RsldDecapod people have been paddling the black river since the mid 70's, i'm very surprised you haven't seen them before you did. there's not much whitewater in NJ and Lockwood gorge and Kay environmental center is some of the best.
1:03 i remember that path there before they came and flatned it with assphlat i loved it better when it was naturely made not human fixed! :( just down this spot is perfect spot at 2:11 to the right i love getting warmed up right there im 13 and ben fly fishing this river for 2 years any tips on it for me? thx or if anyine knows what flies can work tell me cuz i tie my own thx!
You'd never guess that this is one of New Jersey's best kept secrets and only an hour from Manhattan. My wife kids and I regularly take a stroll creek-side and frequently see flyfishermen pulling out (and releasing) trout. It's located between Califon and High Bridge NJ in Hunterdon County.
Yeah the music is from "Revival in Belfast 2". Its a trout conservation area, so it is stocked with trout, but they have to be 15" to keep. Alot of people go fly fishing there.
