@angellcakes The video was made way before the actual Vancouver Games... That's why I was impressed that Joannie was included - she was not very well known outside of the figure skating world before 2010.
@WILD4X4D Actually most Americans have no problem with Canada or Canadians. It must just be you and your inferiority complex... Suzie McNeil is a terrific artist none the less.

Wow! Is she singing at The National Arts Centre in Ottawa? I was there back in may for Musicfest Nationals - so much fun. Proud Canadian, and I miss the Olympics so much. Too bad she never got to sing at any of the Ceremonies, this was great :). Go Canada! Allez Canada!
@joevinc27 Yes, the video was recorded at the National Arts Center. Suzie performed "Believe" at the closing ceremony, but her performance was not televised.
I remember her on rockstar: INXS and I remember the next Rockstar season it was supernova and I so wish there were more because there were amazing singers such as suzie mcneil, marty casey, dilana, and many many more
for me clara hughes is the biggest inspiration of these 3 olympians! to do what she has done at these olympics is just amazing she won her 6th olympic medal at 37 years of age! plus she is the only olympian with multiple olympic medals in summer and winter games!
I watched so much of the olympics. I was so obsessed. I went on the street with my friend and sreamed GO CANADA . Who here likes Patrick Chan. I LOVE him.
To me, this song is the anthem of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics!! It is so inspirational - just like the song "Reach" was during the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta performed by Gloria Estefan. I wish that Suzie McNeil had performed Believe with the brilliant NAC Orchestra during the main televised Closing Ceremony a few hours ago at BC Place. That would have been an AMAZING performance!!!! This song is so inspiring and so are all of the athletes especially Joannie Rochette!!
goddamn I'm so damn proud of my country and what our athletes have dont in this years Olympics. Also a bravo towards U.S too for putting a damn good game this sunday in Men's Hockey.
Canada owns the podium with 14 gold medals at the 2010 Winter Olympics, setting the record for the most gold medals won by a nation in Winter Games history!
Look for Suzie to perform this song during the Olympic closing ceremonies (uncomfirmed).
Joannie Rochette, who won a bronze medal in women's figure skating, will carry the Canadian flag in the closing ceremonies (confirmed).
@xowhatthewhat It was the best in ANY olympic game winter and summer. we took it home :D Was awsome I remember watching the mens hockey gold medal we went crazy when we won it was soooo close.

If, and this is a big if, Joannie Rochette was up for it, I think the country would be blown away to see her skate while Suzie sings this song live at the closing ceremonies. I'm sorry, but this song has more power and better than the Nikki song. This song INSPIRES you to work harder and try harder. The Nikki song is a little too boring for my taste.
@nodrogla --- I also like the Nikki version better for the Olympics. But this song still kicks ass and is a true Canadian rock anthem. It's all a matter of taste really - no one version is truly better then the other.
BUT!!!!
WHY did you feel the need to mention that Nikki is Jewish. What does that have anything to do with her voice and talent? What does that have to do with being Canadian? Please - even in your most subtle ways - please do not push your own religious views on us.
I appreciate your comments. I just think that the young girl who did the other song has a much better voice. Within 5 years, she will be very well known.
I wasn't pushing any religious view by stating that she is Jewish and Canadian. :)
This song is so inspiring. My life changed when i first listened to it. I am beggining to love suzie even more. I am a huge fan of this song its so amazing for suzie to sing this kind of song. she is a kind of artist that you wont expect to sing a wonderfull song like this. SUZIE FOREVER! I LOVE YOU SUZIE! she is so amazing i love her. Suzie-hard,not to mention the music video amazing my fave vid i have seen in a long time! I am with italian1605 in this one this song is not crappy it is so good!
I can see why they chose the Nikki tune. It has that Olympic anthem feel and can be reworked for segment transitions, etc during the broadcast.
However; this is the song that I was so looking forward to hearing throut the games as well. I'm not saying get rid of the Yanofsky song, obviously there was alot of thought put into using it.
I'm just disappointed that this song by Suzie McNeil has been so far ignored. It was the anthem for many that got us all pumped leading up to the games.
I believe McNeil did the original recording of this song. I'm not sure who originally wrote the song but this version has been out for quite a while. I must say I prefer this version to the one that was performed by Yanofsky during the opening ceremony (the other girl was good but kind of boring in my opinion). I was quite disappointed that they did not have Suzie performing this song as I was looking forward to hearing her sing. She's fantastic live
So mad they got some other chick to play this in the opening ceremonies. She was pale and bland in comparison to Suzy's magnicence.
