  • I left my long time girlfriend after hearing this song a few years ago :D This is my favourite song.

  • tearful

  • 2,n2,o2,w2,o2,r2,d2,s2

  • this recording makes me feel so fucking far away from the band

  • so fucking lovely

  • jiminez67...EXACTLY...this music is so beautifully brilliant (just saw that you commented over a year ago...but still, you hit the nail on the head)

  • wow. this is sex packaged as music.

  • You can compare two bands of the same genre, although whichever you believe to be "better" would be an opinion.

  • Explosions in the sky Doesn't have better music than This will destroy you. at all.

  • @CotyMLong They're two completely different bands man. You can't compare two great bands like that. That's an opinion.

  • shouldn't it be ___ and not ______

  • how can anyone dislike this video?

  • I find this music, and post-rock music in general, more sincere and heart felt than any other form of music. I guess the lack of lyrics or a front man, also means lack of ego. They all equally created this mass of awesome sound just coming at you. It's sick. This is one of the most beautiful and majestic rock songs I've ever heard, and those adjectives used to describe a rock genre are not common, at least not in my experience.

  • @SuperAnimalDrummer

and the weird thing about this is that there are so many people who thing differently. sad enough. they think that without a front man or lyrics the music lacks something...

  • @SuperAnimalDrummer niiice. i listen to a lot of deathcore, brutal death, grind and math, but this is REALLY good. shows that music need not be super technical super shred and shit to be good. it sucks how metal fans tend to be one of the most close minded people in the scene, having these sincere forms of music underrated. props to this band. me is likes tis. :))

  • @relativ6192 super true dude nicely put

  • Yeah, these guys are alot better than Explosions in the Sky. They're good too, but I don't get the same feeling I do when I listen to those guys...I hate saying a band is better than the other, and I try to appreciate different things about them; but after listening to both for a couple of years, I have to say TWDY wins, haha. Great video!

  • @nerdheadbanger i get what youre saying, but for me personally, i love explosions more. i get a full story from their songs, and idk, it elicits some sort of strong emotions for me. i think this will destroy may be more "talented," but i dont get that same sense of purity or whatever from their songs. but i still absolutely love them, i just hold explosions in a higher regard.

  • This song is one of the many reasons I love music :)

  • epic

  • drums ate the three guitarist..

  • so simple but it builds so nicely.

  • This most DEFINITELY won't kill me... but it may remind me of a amateur Mogwai, or scrappy Explosions... I guess continuing the tradition of introspective, twinkly white boy build ups can continue to be called "post-rock"... but there is very little "rocking" involved. AND. God bless you digital delay...

  • @maneatingorchids Maybe but Explosions are slightly less melodic in my opinion, this seems more like film soundtrack to me. Still love both bands though! And yes, Digital Delay... Where would U2 be without it. :)

  • TWDY is greatest post-rock band. Check also Three Steps To The Ocean, very similar and beautiful...

  • Amazing. Truly amazing

  • i feel like the mood of the bands are similar but they use play differently

  • this does sound like explosions in the sky, i like it. its my comedown music. after a huge event, rave thang. this is where i go

  • Amazing song, one of the best post-rock songs ever, from a stunning album...

Also... This World Belongs To The Strong are just starting out and need our support..

Bloody good post-rock in the G!YBE vein.

Find them by putting "/thisworldbelongs" after the myspace address.

  • One of the best post rock songs of all time in my opinion

  • one of the best post rock songs ever

  • lol all these post rock guys are all hardcore indie kids

  • sounds like explosions in the sky

  • Driving Everywhere but going Nowhere music

  • @Jiminez67 I know where you're coming from with basically any other song by them. This song is really exciting.

  • great band and outstanding song. if you like this then you might like Sons Had Father. Similar soundscapes but a different style of instrumental music.

  • its post rock

  • i've been wanting to see them live so bad! so amazing <3

  • One of my favorite post-rock songs.

  • this band is sick i write to this

  • @texaspunk911

fuck off are they exactly the same. The only person who could say that is the person who doesnt listen properly. I sound like a right wanker but still its true thats just pure out of order

  • @texaspunk911

E.I.T.S. is actually much better and more complex than This will destroy you. Though they're really good, explosions is infinitely more complex and beautiful...

  • not really..

  • this could not be any more incorrect.

  • woooow i really loved the song ..

n they play it so good live ..

    thanx for upload it :)

  • I could listen to this song every day and I still like it so much! Really, this is so peaceful and dreamy...Simply amazing and totally breathtaking!

    I love them!

btw...I thought this might interest some of you as I saw some comments about good bands some posts before..

SOme days ago I found a band on youtube called "Nyctalgia". You really should give a listen to their song "Falling into nothingness"

    Breathtaking newcomer..trust me...it's totally worth!

  • 2:34 and 5:28

  • Its great to see this new movement of post-rock bands, who actually want to make beautiful music instead of just 3 minute pop songs.

And its great to see that its not just confined to Iceland

  • this band is great, i love post rock

  • that crowd shoulda been fifty times louder at the end..

  • i love this band, song, everything about them. I love playing this song as well, it is so amazing. This is an underlooked band in my opinion. I wish the hole world could understand how amazing they are. And also, theyre record theyre music PERFECTLY. There not some tipical band with terrible recordings, theyre amazing. Overal, IMPECABLE.

  • realhewdshug, i agree with you to an extent. tera melos is so complex and in your face- i love it. but at the same time TWDY simplicity is just as beautiful. i enjoy drawn out repetetive songs like this, cuz i can actually handle it. amazing band

  • bah, realhewdshug doesnt know when to give props. Anyway lots of people have been saying TWDY is their favorite post-rock band. Boring? you don't know how to appreciate the finer things in life

  • they all sounds the same mistakes lol

  • They don't sound very similar to Mogwai, imo. They're more similar to EITS, God is an Astronaut, maybe Because of Ghosts. I just know when I sit down and listen to any of these bands, that TWDY comes out as best.

  • back troll back!

  • I think this band sounds somewhat like the amazing band, Lanterna.

  • this song is great, GIAA is my favorite post rock band though

  • Please stop talking.

  • i just listened to this for 2 hours straight

  • just incredible musical emotion. This is easily my favorite band at the moment. This and *shels, explosions in the sky, devil sold his soul and parliament of owles.

  • yea much more than the mass produced crap will ever produce in a LIFETIME!

  • ahh, I love post-rock (:

  • I had only heard of Explosions in the Sky, but after unearthing the 'Post-Rock' genre, I ended up discovering This Will Destroy You, along with Mono, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, God Is An Astronaut and 65daysofstatic. I don't know why, but This Will Destroy You has easily become my favourite. It's just wonderful stuff to listen too!

If anyone also knows any other good Post-rock bands, i'm very happy to hear about them.

  • So this is a "post-rock" genre.

Thanks, I need to expand to that genre now.

  • i guess i might get an unhappy reaction with some people but Russian Circles is a good band to look up to

  • Incredible performance of a incredibly beautiful song..! I enjoyed every single second of it...! A really great band, this is art what they're doing..It's more than just art, something I personally can't tell in words, but I always can feel it while listening to it..!

Btw..Everybody should check out the Band called "Nyctalgia" and their song "Falling into Nothingness"!

Great music in the veins of Mogwai, etc.

It's not my band but it's great and worth checking out

    Youtubesearch: Nyctalgia

  • on a plain...

  • awesome song title!

  • chickenfoot is probably my favorite post rock album. i can just totally relate to it.

  • *laugs very hard* nice man. i dont know who you are, but that was genius.

  • you have trolled well

  • does anyone know what gear they use?

  • looks like basic guitars (tele, les paul, strat) and the guy in the middle is running his guitar through the laptop to process the audio. my guess is he is using Ableton Live to do that and for other small sequenced parts.

  • is a bass!! -.- ahaha

  • Yep, its a Telecaster, a Les Paul, and a Jazz Bass.

  • first time i have heard this band. but every time i think all the cool band or group names have been exhausted. i hear one like this. good stuff.

  • ø¤º°¨°º¤ø„¸¨°º¤ø„

    ¨°º¤ø„ ¸This Will Destroy You is brilliant!!¨°º¤ø„¸ from ~~~Johore Bahru, Malaysia ~~~¸„ø¤º°¨¸„ø¤º „¸¨°º¤ø„¸¸„ø¤

  • When the music ends it destroys me. <3

  • Given their name, I'd say that was their intention ;)

  • TWDY's music is so beautiful.

I feel really relaxed right now.

  • Check out Sleepmakeswaves :)

  • I'll do just that.

    Cheers mate :)

  • Yeah, they're pretty good, too...

  • this band makes me happy

  • check out EF!!!

  • EF is amazing! Great band!

  • So f.ing epic. One of my favorite songs as of late....so addictive, can't stop listening.

  • agreed to the fullest!

  • similar to explosions in the sky - nice one!

  • this is the best this will destroy you song

  • Search for:

  • Did you ever find those powertabs, and if so could email them?

  • this is my favourite band

  • seeing these guys live was fucking stupidly epic.

  • this band is fucking amazing when your stoned. everyone must try this.

  • deprimente

  • Sois los mejores... me vais a destruir...

  • This Is Amazing.

  • these guys are really good, you should check out god is an astronaut aswell

  • i love GIAA. Fragile makes me :'(

  • agreed best sad song eva..my fav is suicide by star..

  • i love this fucking band

  • wat effect pedals do they use?

  • ebow is one of their effect .. i dont know the rest

  • they also use alot of DelayPedlas

  • reverb, delay, compressor/sustainer, some dist pedal...

  • one of my favorite post-rock songs ever. almost up there with Your Hand In Mine or The Dead Flag Blues.

  • im seeing these guys in dublin only heard em a few days ago alot like explosions in the sky

  • Does anyone know which is the best album??

  • Young Mountain, in my opinion

  • Definitely young mountain, but it's all good.

  • russian circles, red sparowes, and mono are all also really good

  • does anyone know any other bands like TWDY? i know explosions in the sky, god is an astronaut, a silver mt zion, and godspeed but i have yet to find a band that is equal to their talent. if anyone knows of any bands that are this good, please reply to this comment/message me.

and it really doesnt matter what genre TWDY is, who cares if they classify themselves as ambient. in some ways they are ambient, in some ways they arent. just chill out and enoy the music.

  • Hey there! Twdy is good, but Mogwai are definitely the best postrock band ever. enjoy :D

  • Agreed. Hands down, Mogwai is the best.

  • I dunno. Mogwai are a great post-rock band, but I think Explosions In The Sky are the best.

  • i used to prefer EITS, but when i saw mogwai live i totally changed my mind. they blowed me away!! anyway, hopefully i'll see "this will destroy you" live in april =D

  • i have yet to attend my first post-rock show. id really like it if gybe got back together. i would see them in a heartbeat.

  • eheh that would be awesome... gy!be are EPIC

  • i take back what i said earlier. eits are not my favorite. gybe are.

  • @farmboy504 they are now...

  • i think GY!BE are my favorite by far. but mogwai and TWDY are certainly great!

  • Mogwai and EITS are both great, but by far the best post rock is Russian Circles and Maserati. I have been to many post-rock performances, and these two just destroyed everything else out there for me. So good.

  • In W2? :D

  • Check our Parhelia from Dublin, Ireland... they're quite like these guys.

  • Seriously...Mono from Japan, you have to check them out.

  • Mono is actually a pretty average band.

  • Mono is actually one of the better post rock band.

  • mono is better when they play minimal..

  • try these bands (next to their name i give you the name of my favourite song): Russian Circles(Xavii), Kyte(Planet), Mono (halcyon beautiful days)

  • mogwai, fuck buttons, 65daysofstatic, boards of canada, tycho

  • TWDY is amazing. I would definitely consider them to be an ambient band, as well as thrash. Both genres have that ability to make you feel the emotion of a song without a single lyric being sung. TWDY does it in the most brilliant way. They play their instruments in a way that just sends chills up your spine. Or at least that's the effect they have on me. Their song Quiet was so deep the first time I heard it, it brought tears to my eyes. THIS IS WHAT GOOD SOUNDS LIKE!

  • ambient is becoming synonymous for instrumental these days they sound very much like God Is An Astronaut:D

  • Instrumental, post-rock

  • Who cares what kind of music it is, it's amazing =D

  • This is my very 1st time listening to this band...and i have to admit...they are deep. I love the way they play on your emotions without sayin a word. words can sometimes take away from the actual feelings of a song...2 thumbs up. Ima fan.

  • this is relaxing

  • this will ___ destroy you

  • Hey it's not my fault that people don't know what they're talking about.

  • i dont recall saying it was... i believe my point was that thats no reason to be an elitist cunt about it.

i'll take open-minded people who dont know what they're talking about over snobby fucks that think they should lord what they know over everyone any day of the week

  • I wasn't the one who used a bunch of hilarious profanity to defend myself

    I just said

in order to appreciate EITS compared to so many other bands live

you just have to understand music on a certain level.

  • I listen to this music when ever I want to feel inspired and alive. I view things in such different way that it makes me wonder off. Especially when driving... I see the wheat fields and the city... dunno its amazing it's a weird feeling this music gives me that no other does.

  • I saw them live in Austin a few weeks ago. I liked how the drummer when through 4 sticks during just one song and how there were shredded sticks on the ground below him. He doesn't hold back. One of them told me they'd be playing again in Texas early summer. Can't wait.

  • amazing. long live post rock.

  • What a band i saw these guys last night absolutely unbelievable live band also saw explosions in te sky about a month ago love them on record but I wouldnt say they were a live band was not impressed!!! Thats coming from a fan

  • shit. i'm so sorry. i wanted to give you thumbs up. yeah man. this band is damn brilliant. i saw them in whelan's. i was shocked cause they sounded good live. they were terrific. glad i went there. still havent recovered. i want to see them again. it was magical.

  • wow explosions is about one of the best live bands ive ever seen

they arent just playing music when you see them live they are entering a different world I guess you just have to understand music on a certain level

these guys are good im a fan but can not compare to eits

  • you sound like a pretentious Pitchfork asswipe when you say "I guess you just have to understand music on a certain level" What? Your understanding of music gives you the ability to turn a subjective experience into objective truth? get a dick.

  • get a dick hahaha! that was irrelevant

One who plays music/studies music/experienced many shows obviously would understand music on a much more in depth level than one who just listens.

not to put musicians and music listeners into categories but only in my opinion to the comparison of TWDU vs EITS

i love this band but they don't come anywhere close to eits' live performance

these guys are from austin too so obviously eits is an influence

    great band none the less

  • TVTsteven, i see your point, but a person's understanding of music, regardless of the setting, goes only as far as their mind is seeking to understand, if you're at a concert for the experience, or to rock out(not gonna happen with this band), or just chill, you might oversee the meaning of a song. Just as easy to do if you're at home on itunes.

  • ya man i totally agree

thats what I mean about understanding music on a certain level

if you take most ppl to a TWDU show or an EITS show

    they wont get it

they'll probably be like what is this?

but the fact that when i saw eits they were one of the best i've ever seen

and ive seen so many bands from rock legends to the greatest underdogs

but eits was just an amazing close your eyes and leave your body kind of experience haha

  • Right on!

And I would kill to see Explosions live :)

  • if you guys like this band you will enjoy bands like austin tv, explosions in the sky, envy, mono, mogwai... ect..

  • Tell me more about these underground bands you have discovered.

  • you just listed all my favorite bands

    mogwai

    do make

    godspeed

    god is an astronaut

    sooooo gooooood

  • god is an astronaut is pretty good and that was me using a friends computer... there's also haven't listened to do make but i've listened to godspeed.

  • you niggas can't be forgetting A silver Mt. zion

  • a silver mt.zion is not ambient as it has lyrics. Doesn't fall under TWDY and EITS. More like at the drive-in type of music. Which is amazing music but doesn't really belong in this category.
