The members were encouraged but donated of their own free will due to their own beliefs. It was not tax exempt money that was used so there tax exempt status cannot be taken. With or without civil rights gay people will never be accepted in the course of our lifetime. I guess you can just stay mad and focused and do your best to only think of those things that you don´t have and forget about the things that you do. The members were encouraged but donated of their own free will due to their own beliefs. It was not tax exempt money that was used so there tax exempt status cannot be taken. There were mormons who voted no on prop 8, so obviously the prophet speaking out cannot be blamed especially since mormons don't make up a majority of the yes votes!! We had the right to marry and Mormon's efforts took that away, so yes, they threw the first stone. And stop lying about churches having to perform marriages. Churches don't have to perform any marriages they don't want to (interfaith, or any objectionable grounds). These are some of the lies that were used in the campaign against our rights. A bigot is a person who is intolerant of opinions, lifestyles, or identities differing from their own. LDS are bigots.

how is it a lie? It happened with interracial marriage, because if its deemed a civil right they do otherwise they are seen as discriminatory, and lose tax exemption. Its not a "lie"... its actually a legitimate argument, that churches could be forced to either lose tax exemption, or go against their beliefs. 7 percent of the vote for prop 8 were black. Only 2 percent of the entire population of Cal. is LDS. Many other religions and groups voted for prop. 8. In my fraternity and another fraternity on my campus gays and mormons live peacefully in the same house. Some are even best of friends. So to say mormons "hate" gays is just bigotted on your part.

When democratic majority is used to take away the rights of a minority, yes we're against it. The blacks were against it. Jews were against it. In fact, at once time, Mormons were against. When it was directed at them anyway. Now they're for it! Yipee!

but why single out mormons? Sure mormons were much more involved politically but is that a bad thing? Shouldn't we encourage political involvement? Dont you want people to go out and vote? It should be state by state and not federal though.

The Mormons singled out us. And apparently have been planning this action since 1996. My civil rights aren't up for a popular vote. And our people in all states will be free and equal.
We will tax the Mormon Political Action Committe, and we will economically boycott Mormon businesses, and send a clear message we will not be attacked by the Mormon sheeple.

The State Constitution says otherwise. And the LDS church isnt a PAC, PACs exist to give money to campaigns. The church itself didnt directly pay money to the campaign (except for a few plane tickets for leaders to fly back and forth)... You are just upset that Mormons were good at organizing and used their rights as an American to be involved. I dont care if you boycott Mormon business, I doubt Marriott will suffer because you are pissed.

And yes,we did.I supported gay marriage because I have friends whose are gays and are really nice people and I believe that children have more stability because they remain together and don´t get divorced.About taxes, I am not even close to get taxed but I believe bigger companies will start firing people to reduce costs and I could lose my job!

With or without civil rights gay people will never be accepted in the course of our lifetime. I guess you can just stay mad and focused and do your best to only think of those things that you don´t have and forget about the things that you do. This issue will be resolve when it is resolved no matter what you guys do or don´t do.

Blacks aren't accepted yet by everyone either. The point is freedom and equality and it does matter when people fight for it. That's how societies evolve. You may think nothing gets resolved, but I disagree. We're gonna fight back in a way that hasn't been seen before. Stay tuned!

Why was separate but equal not equal? Because it was shown that not only were the facilities no where close to equal, but blacks felt inferior to whites as shown in the doll test. I would argue any inferiority the gay community feels is self invoked. Honestly outside of a marriage sense no one really cares if someone is gay. Also, blacks fall under suspect classification, gays do not. So its really not comparable.

BTW Domestic Partnerships do not cover the partners property in the case of death. If my partner dies his family has the right to take away our house, our cars, our personal property. If minorities weren't protected from raw majority votes, the Mormons and Scientologist could find their religions outlawed by Catholics and fundamentalist Protestants. You do know what they say about those religions don't you? The seperation was to protect freedoms on both sides. My people have not been protected from LDS actions. Yet. We will prevail.

Mormons have a right to give money to whatever cause, but gays have a right to protest as well. The proposition is illegal, because the Constitution of California can only be amended through the legislature, not by majority vote. There are many informed gays. You decided to pick individuals who are angry and perhaps not as well-informed as others. You have your own members like that. You will lose this fight the way you lost fighting interracial marriage. It's bigotry, and you're guilty.
