I live a block away from this b of a. I sat inside the gettaway car that the robbers drove. They had it on display at the LAPD car show. And the unit 15 squad cars.

Seconded. I heard the department requested rifles for squad cars shortly before this incident and the request was denied. If they had gotten them the robbers would have been killed the second they stepped out the door.

n thank u for the CAPT that gave me 10 days suspension. After the police dept and the chief made it a good shooting. The Dept approved a good shooting and the police commission over turned his decision. Reason: bad tactics, they found a few casings with no COVER in front of a black and white that i used as cover. Over 200 shots were fired at the officers including me. All i know is that every officer went home to their families and thats all it matters. My proudest 10 day hit ever. Thank u LAPD.

I remember we drove on the 170 s/b freeway that day and saw hundreds of cops. Never seen anything like that before in my life. I was a TA and I was in a school bus full of kids. I was telling myself, dam,whats going on? Me wanting to be a cop. I was confused. Not knowing that on March 10 2004 I would be involved in the 3rd largest LAPD shootout history. 1st being Noho 2nd being the Watt riots with black panthers in the 60's, and 3rd Vernon and Vermont pursuit shootout. God bless all the COPS.

@leanlikeapopo - Actually that pursuit was in *2005*. Be that as it may, I don't know how in the wildest stretch of imagination that you can claim that the shooting was the "3rd largest shootout" (sic) in LAPD history.

Also, the Black Panther incident was in 1969, not during the Watts riot, and you forgot the SLA shootout in 1974.

most of the audio is audible....the officer hiding is using a PTT-throat mic and can be hard to hear.......dispatch is readible......other officers are readible....not sure what scanner is used on clip......at 4:35 officer on is calling shots........5:19 aircraft in area......5:59-6:10 VERY CHILLING!!!!!!!!!!
