No this is an exciting sport. Australia & New Zealand are the 2 top teams & have an amazing rivalry. NZ beat Aus in double extra time at the Com Games last year & Aus beat NZ in extra time this year at the Netball World Championships. The games are always close. Basketball is a sport of individuals where Netball is much more a team effort.

I think this sport is too tactical for the US because of the restrictions on movement and footwork. Too much control required maybe?? LOL LOL. I played GS for two counties a lifetime ago. LOL. As a GS I needed to know my GA WA and C inside out and they needed to know exactly what type of ball I could get. In my case it was "Just throw the ball in her general direction and she'll get it!!" Oh how I miss those days...especially going on tour!! LOL LOL.

My daughter has just turned 7 and im starting her playing Netball. Just got a net today and shes been tossing it about and general playing about with the ball. My question is (no Netball classes at her school till new term now) what would be good practice/exercises that me and her could do just over the summer holidays to prepare her?

@5285280 Try some Round the world shooting, shooting from different areas......then do some passes, try and teach her not to move her feet, and when she jumps to catch a ball, teach her to land on both feet...Defence isn't used much in the age group, but tell her about the three feet rule and she should be right before the lessons make her better :3

A coworker told me about this sport and it was the first time in my life that I heard of it. So of course I Youtube it and I found this video. I am always fond of any cardio activity to promote better health. However, I was turned off by the fact that the uniform consists of a "skirt" instead of shorts/leggings/pants. I learned a lot, but i'm sorry to say that netball won't be a good sport in the US. Basketball is smaller (5 players instead of 7), faster (most stoppages are for out of bounds and shooting fouls), much less restricting (2 zones on the court instead of 3 zones, players aren't restricted to zone positions), and much more entertaining (even for Women's Basketball).

Good friend of mine from Melbourne always spoke about her Netball team and how varied the ages were, that a girl or woman could always find a teams to play on. Sounds like something healthy and fun that mothers and daughters can do together. It definitely needs to come to America.

Hi, great video and got all the essentials about rules of netball. One thing to note is that about centre passes...the Centre pass should be taken alternatively between the 2 teams throughout the game but in the commentry it says if one team takes the 1st centre pass in the 1st qtr then the opposing team should take the 1st centre pass in the 2nd qtr...which is not correct.
