I know I had a s-line b5 A4 GIAC X+, turbo back catless by me, intake by me, forge splitter, FMIC by me, 18-20psi...I raced it three times, barely beat a stock S2k, barely crept by a turbo prelude, and lost bad to a 05 GT haha

    94-95 GT's had the 5.0.

    96-98 GT's had the 4.6.

  • @bad65stang The 94-99 Mustangs all had the same style to the bodylines, it wasent until the late 99-04 that they made the body more crips and sharper looking. They kept the 5 till the early 99 then dumped it for the 4.6 till they released it last year.

  • @SupQTTS nope trust me...the only sn95 mustangs to have the 5.0 were the 94 to 95 models which had horizontil lines accross the tailights...from 96-98 they still kept the same body style (the only difference being the tailights shown here) but they had the 4.6 in em...they carried the 4.6 alllll the way up untill the 2010 model year when they brought the 5.0 back in 2011

    "5.0" is the title of this video, so the model year is inconsequential (was not reported), except for the still unaltered 240hp that it ever produced, no matter what year in that generation.

  • I own a GTI and while I do race against V8 Mustangs, I'm not expecting to win them in straight line unless the driver happens to be a newbie butterfingers.

    Even a factory 1999 Mustang 5.0 has 80hp extra to deal with a mere 450 lbs of added weight compared to a 1.8 GTI, so it means it has a power-to-weight ratio of barely 13.2lb/hp, compared to the GTIs 16.6 lb/hp.

    To the GTI driver: Get a K04 and chip tuning. It will give you a ratio of 12 lb/hp without adding extra weight!

  • @onewingedangel326 Its the fact that my 4 banger can stomp the piss out of car that was made to be fast off the production line is what makes it awesome. I love cars in general, muscle or tuner in fact i use to own camaro, but agree to disagree when you see a VW rolling down the road and it looks completely stock and you try and run it then it walks your ass, that is pretty impressive. Not to mention I get 20-30mpg while doing it too. Displacement really doesn't matter too much anymore.

  • @stratmemph1 Not all mustangs are made to be fast.. Not all golfs are made to be fast. Yes you can make sleepers of both because they are so common. I destroy most mustangs and turbo golfs with a NA 1.8. Any car can be made fast, it all depends how much money you dump into it. The only reason to get picky with cars is the max hp you can get out of the engine before it blows and expense to work on the car. I don't get this video though, the mustang won why are people cheering the vdub.

  • @onewingedangel326 thats why i bought a vdub, its a good car. with rods/pistons upgraded everything else in the block will be find when im running 25+lbs of boost. and sitting on around 450whp. 1.8t can be kicked up to over 1000hp if you want and have the money to do it. but i get what your saying, not every mustang isn't made to be fast, BUT it is an iconic pony car that is symbolized as being a fast performance production car vs. a vdub which is "just a compact european car."

  • you can pick up a 5l mustang for $2000. you can pick up a 1.8t golf for roughly the same price, closer to $3000. the mustang is already faster. you put another $1000 into the golf for a turbo upgrade, $1500 with a cheap tune, $2000 if you get a good computer system. now ur $5000 is faster than the mustang... for $5000 you can build a mustang twice as fast as your golf... and it wont have a turbo.. no detonation. what is i told you i had a NA 4cyl that could beat a stock turbo 4cyl? believe it?

  • @tpfaff6 I keep up with GT's with a flash, MAF, and Exhaust. You can squeeze 250hp out of a 1.8t's k03 without replacing it and be neck and neck with or even beat these older stangs depending on driver skill. Bigger turbo would lead to 300hp easily. Wouldn't be a fair race at that point.

Especially when my Saab 2.0T Stage 3, nearly fully lookin like a Viggen now btw, can compete with all of these cars, and I wouldn't dare line up my Saab with my Termy... Two different cars. Btw the Saab has full weight reduction, 33psi big turbo, wrapped in racing hardware top to bottom.

  • And those of you who "STILL" think American cars can't turn are stuck in the 80's. Look how destructive the Z06 is, and is relatively cheap. I'm a Ford guy, not real happy with the '05+ platform, but for 2010 the Mustang GT has a .93g lateral grip, that's damn good.

    Also, the new Saleen Extreme S302, 620hp, is based on the GT500, live axle, but Saleen's patented suspension setup handles incredibly well, and makes up for the uncomfortable bumps in the road, when you're turning. You're all biased

  • Saleen is more of a tuning house than a full fledged manufacturer isn't it? It's got like 1 car that's not actually based on other maker's car. Other than that, it seems that most American muscle cars are still stuck in the 80's with prehistoric live axle suspension heh.

  • You guys don't fully realize. Technology has come a long way, when the 5.0 was common, there was no "Import scene" at all, the only fast hatch in existence was the VW Rabbit 16V MKI. Many ppl give credit to the 5.0 Mustang for the import tuning scene to begin with, which I agree with, I watched it develop over the years. You shouldn't compare pony cars of 20 years ago to imports of today. Go ahead and compare a 1987 Subaru to a 1987 Mustang GT, do you understand now? Not fair. This is elementary

    Besides, I can simply boot up the mac air, with the press of a button I'm on race tune, (and I store 20 gal 110 oct), fill'er up with the 110, and I'm running 850whp. Okay who's next?

  • @clifford850r a newer gti is in the same price range as a 03/04 cobra, but no where even close to the performace and capabilities that a cobra has. Cobra's run for about 18k-22k. 390hp stock. would make a gti look like the economy car that it is.

  • First off, you dont "eat vw's." you beat the vw's you have raced before. i see many n/a vr6's (2.8 12v) easily take 5.0's unmodded and yet i see the same thing happen the other way around. depends on the car and driver. Also the 1.8T comes in many versions, from 150hp up to 225hp in some audi TT's, we dont't know what this one was. And as for the modding, i think what he is trying to say is to show us a ford engine that can tune so easily. i mean up to 50hp just from a chip?

  • Put an 03/04 cobra up against an r32 in any kind of race with a curve or turn in it, then well see whats up. r32 isnt a straight line car. And for a grands worth of chip and exhaust the gti would have taken the mustang. no shit the v8 mustangs gunna beat a stock 1.8 in a straight line.

  • @jrkidd89 just to let you know, a vw is faster than a mustang cuss a VW has more parts, less weight, and can crank out over 450 whp on stock internals,. and ontop of that, a mustang can only hit about 137 or so with the factory speed limiter, VW/Audi are around 145. dont think cuss you have a bigger engine, your car is faster cuss you are greatly mistaken.

  • @18vwT thats funny cause i had a stock 97 gt with just exhaust and it hit 160 why dont you do some research on what ur gonna talk about before u do it plain and simple mustangs get pussy the parts are cheap and easily available and heres the deal on this run its a 1.8 TURBO vs an NA 5.0 sorry to say no replacement for displacement
