I used to smoke Gorf's arse. Timing and moving UP, not back. gives you more angles to maneuver. Shooting those lines and waiting b4 shooting... that was a fun game. the ship tho was the coolest. chunks flying off. hehe
Can anyone remember/tell me how the synth speech goes? I played this as a kid with very limited English capabilities and I only remember something like this: "Dee Sterly. Harald Dee. Above Gorf mission!" Yes, very amusing, but what can you do when English is not your first language? I gather it's "Destroyed. xxx something. Abort Gorf Mission!", but any help greatly appreciated. Cheers!
LOL, I played that too.. and yes, after top level, it got no harder.. I could play it that long as well.. I actually found that in the laser level, if u left one laser shooter, you could "park" on the opposite side and take a break.. drink a soda, etc...

Amazing game, probably my fave arcade game when I was a kid. And damn, you're good at it! I could have done with watching this video nearly 30 years ago.
Well done! This is far and away my favorite arcade game of all time. Brings back great memories of playing it at the 7-11 around the corner from my house as a kid.
Judging from this video alone, I thought you must be good at games in general. Then I saw your name and thought oh duh, that makes sense, of course you're good. At first I thought you were just a "regular" man and simply have abnormally fast reaction times. But the fact that you are an "arcade" man explains everything. It must be expected of you. haha :P
I was a space avenger at one time myself. I was wondering... how does one go about owning an actual home version of GORF. I honestly believe that you lose some game playing ability by sitting there using a small handheld control pad in some games. GORF, 1942, Megaforce and Outrun just to name a few. GORF was pretty wicked in its day and still is!
I've had problems with the sound/speech on the game since I've owned it(1998). It goes on and off. Sometimes the right speaker goes out, too; then I have half the sounds I should. Haven't gotten around to fixing it since its intermittent....
@arcademan1 I actually had one of those units as well. the speech synthesis was a dedicated board inside the unit if i recall, and the game would still function if the board failed.
Have you ever toyed around with the flag ship and seen how much you could blast away without hitting the reactor?

Congradulations, "Space Emporer"! I never made it past the 2nd mission of "Space General".
I didn't hear GORF talk and that was the reason I got so much into this game, it pissed me off!
I wish I had all the quarters I put into GORF... I wish I could find a home-version of it.

They just don't make games like that anymore. I can still hear the robot talking and it takes me back to when I was 10 years old.

So does Gorf end? If so that is a bit of a let down. Thanks.

As far as I know it does not end. I played for 4 hours and 45 minutes, got 943K and there was no end in sight.....

I missed....couldn't get to it? I'm guessing you're talking about the bouncing dude that appears at the top of the screen; I rarely hit that one...
