@DevornCauser Just Muslims? You did see the art about tourism distorting traditional Dogon culture right? Seems like everyone is playing a hand. It's saddening to see that the most ancient relics are being stolen and shipped all over the world to collectors. Horrible. Cultural Genocide
@IAmNubianAmerican It is saddening. It's our culture. Our history. Our way of life being erased. I said muslims because they're doing it intentionally. threatening to persecute the Dogons for practicing their culture. I thought islam was about peace?
As a point of interest watch David Attenborough's Behind the Mask documentary from the Tribal Eye series and see the difference 30 odd years have made in this region.
@SuperDamba You mean, "Yeke Yeke" (although I don't remember listening to the song during the doc)... also, I'm not sure how many copies were sold but at least 1 for each discotheque (back in the 80's, of course).
no its not the king salif keita , but the one who becomes the front man of the band salif keita use to be back in the 70's.. its mr MORY KANTE , both are from city colled BAMAKO in MALI ...MORY KANTE is the only african musician who sold more then 1 copys with the song ke ke ke lol

Its Salif Keita and the song is on Golden Voice - The Very Best Of Salif Keita. Amazing artist. (Unlike Youssou N'Dour whose song is played in the beginning he's at least from Mali. But, hey, its all Africa, right, so who cares *rolls eyes*)
@Thutmosis7 It’s a shame to see people with real authentic cultural and beliefs replace it with foreign crap. These people are a head of the game with their age old knowledge but don’t know it! I guess this is what happen to the Ancient Egyptian when they were force to convert!
I think it's funny that we create great Art as a representation of dreams and in passe' form, and it's beautiful, but in the real world, creation of structured society is a representation of our ego, not of our dreams and has nothing to do with old fashion values. Maybe we should dream more and be awake less.
wow... thx for posting, what a great show. interesting arts.

Why did they have a famous comedian doing the narrative? It sounds inappropriate as if they are subtley making fun of it.
