"Rayden is particularily powerful against Shang Tsung" - In what way?
"We think this game deserves good marks in general, but the challenge level can be low if you set it that way" - well .... don't set it low? really how does having an easy setting give it a negative point when in other reviews you happily mention to people how to make the game easier and cheese your way to victory?
Is that the first cartridge edition? The family-friendly one? I hate FF Mortal Kombat! Mature-tagged MK is better! I love blood, but not tthe fatalities... ^.^' But in MKI, the Fatalities were nothing but a bonus-point thing, and NOT FREAKING BLOODY OR BLOOD-STAINED BONE LETTERS!!! That's why I can stand MKI Fatalities a little bit better than in any other MK game.
This is like a kid version of Mortal Kombat because it has no blood! I used to own this game years ago, but not long after I started playing it, it turned out to be a bit of a disappointment despite the graphics. The bottom line is that I realized that this game deserved to be recreated for mature players after the release of Mortal Kombat II for the SNES.
I am surprised that this guy didn't mention the unique revolutionary character models for the time: digitized sprites of the actors, considering he loves discussing the technology behind the games.

Yeah it's pretty fair to say that EVERYONE had to have mk and mk2; kinda like when SF2 came out for the SNES, dude, if you didn't have that on the top of your pile of games when people would come over, you looked like a real asshole.
@NeuralNetProcessor The genesis version is the version of MK to have. I bought a genesis to play MK in it's true form. The endings are like in the arcade with images of the winner and text underneath with a grey background. I didn't know anybody who bought the snes version nintendo made it clear they were butchering it.

Mortal Kombat 2 RULED! Mortal Kombat 3... was enjoyable, but you knew it would not bring the genre much farther...
And yes, the rest sucks giant balls. MKA was fun for a moment or so, because it was not bugged up like the other games but... Meh.. not a good game...
Let me insist:
MORTAL KOMBAT 2 RULES! And face it, even if the ports where inferior, they still where mortal kombat, the game EVERYONE WANTED!
Absolutely! While I think that Mortal Kombat Armageddon is great, its not a true mortal kombat in my eyes. And honestly, without the mad number of characters and the ability to make your own, MKA would not have been fun at all. Oh and face it, the characters are EXTREMELY unbalanced, everything from some characters having two mediocre moves, to some having 10-15 different crushing moves for all situations.
