  • I AM BLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIND

  • Can you burn ants with it?

  • I have design a circular disc shape barbe que grill fixed with a magnify glass. Mmmm steak in 10 min. who wants some?

  • What it if you two screens? More concentrated beam?

  • Does the wood stay burned after you take it away from the beam?

  • good way to get rid of ants nest to or the hornets that nest in the ground, the fun never ends

  • Watching Greenpowersience burning plastic -> epic fail

  • @BinaryCoder - what do you think happens to your plasic bottles, bags, ect?

  • wow... really takes frying ants to a whole new level :-)

  • wow awesome :D 5*

  • where do i buy one?

  • put your hand in there!

  • what if you got two linear ones and put them on top of each other, in alternating directions? so one is focusing left to right and one is focusing up to down, would you get a spot?

  • What are they used for? Except having fun?

  • You're good as long as Britt Eckland doesn't bump it with her butt.

  • WMD for bugs :D

  • Imagine sun without ozone... lots of popcorn!! weeee

  • when using magnifying glass or Fresnel lens you have to be careful to use very dark glasses, even welder's glasses, to protect your eyes from the concentrated sunlight. i was doing this in the 1950s and i think it caused eye damage, i ended up with some nearsightedness that might have been worsened by this sort of thing. most people do this and eventually just get blurry vision similar to snowblindness but repeatedly doing this will be very damaging to your eyes, and you regret it.

  • I use this when I dry my clothes.

  • Green power... that's suppose to mean like benefiting the environment right? Then why is he burning plastic... -_-?

  • so this guy just makes a bunch of vids about burning shit? awesome. lmao

  • is there a way to make a continous focal point like a laser beam?

  • @cjellwood kinda, yeah. you can refocus the light so that it would be parallel (ie a straight line) but it still wouldn't be a laser. also the lens required for such a thing would be damed expensive.

  • Oooh Id Love to burn a cuple ants with that thingy XD

  • If the ants ever get ahold of this... humans will be the new ants.

  • 2:15 polluting the environment with burnt plastic

  • Actually the opposite.

  • they're polluting stuff with green stuff O.o

  • Build a box around it (the sides) so that it can't hurt your eyes even if you're not wearing protective eyewear. And have the mirror bounce the beam back up to a flat panel which will collect all of it and then you can cook on top of that.

  • Now just imagine you're strapped to a table, and the intense light beam is slowly approaching your crotch.......

  • And the light beam is actually a woman...

  • Good lord, my nuts shot up into my chest when I read that!! haha

  • hahahaha

  • @tesladoctor257 you expect me to talk?

  • We have known for years you can boil water or heat air. In a boiler.....

Then force it through a turbine to create Electricity

But the BIG MONEY will never allow this it means there would be no need to BIG OIL - COAL - GAS - NUC plants and no one would be making ther big money for it...

    We all know this works...

  • When playing with solar do you get more power out put if the direct the lends over the top of the solar panel, I know it might melt so is there a panel out there that can with stand that heat and produce a lot of power?

  • I could play with that for days.

  • Burning plastic is extra Green.

  • My thoughts exactly.

  • why does the wood smolder but not catch fire?

  • There are flames, they just don't continue when you pull it out of the light. I think it just has something to do with how little heat the fire is providing for itself, and also a lack of surface area that's burning. If you had a bunch of little twigs, it would definitely keep burning.

  • how much does one of these bad boys cost

  • About $100

  • @GREENPOWERSCIENCE i got my lens for free at the junk yard off a old tv it is bigger than my front door almost:)

  • What's the hotest day you've ever used a fresnel lens? How hot was the temperature recorded on the focal point?

  • it's not hotness that counts it's sky clarity (no clouds and pollutants) cause have you ever noticed a hot days are some times cloudy? or a cold day it bright?

  • So are you saying that a clear sky with the temerature around 20 degrees could be more uv -ray intense(A hotter focal point) then a 40 degree slightly cloudy day? If that makes sense.

  • yup.

  • great work well done

  • I melted 4 plastic bottles into a bowl and used the plastic to mold some gears. Worked good, best part is you can actually mix all plastics regardless of the number. Only pollutes if you burn or dont recycle. I skipped a shower for a day to offset my footprint for the plastic in this video:-) LOL

Take care, Thanks for the comment.

  • haha, nice on the showers. we all should skip a few out of our days to help out.

It's pretty fun to watch fresnel lenses being used. I'ma order one.

  • Not if you use the sun to heat your water ;)

  • but people won't do that to help a great cause LIKE OUR PLANET AND LIVES. they want fast heat, even at the expense of everything around them.

  • @joegoatman you're a retard

  • coooool

  • I have a motherlode of ore I need to melt. I'll just point the sun at the whole kit and kaboodle. ;)

  • Dan, I'm just curious -- have you attempted or considered toying with the idea of making fake obsidian trinkets with chipped rock or cinder block? It looks like you can get the rock hot enough to basically turn into magma.

  • Hi,

I never thought of trying that. I have ended with crystalized material from the blocks.

Thank you for the great posts:-)

  • You should change your name from "Green Power Science" to "Just Burnin' Shit." Cool vids, though!

  • BBQ party on ur house

  • That'll teach those ants who's boss! >:D

  • yea you cold but one of the lenses so it will shine on theyr nest exit o.O so evryone who somes out fries =D

  • bravo pour le travail

  • WoW ! that's a lethal weapon !!

I have one of those plastic sheets, but it doesn't work.

  • What is it made of?

Can I get one in the UK?

  • It is acrylic plastic and Yes to UK but shipping is a lot. Check Ebay for "FRESNEL LENS"
