I constantly bug my friend to play this song because its a song that puts a different kind of emotion in me. Its a well arranged piece and I thank you for putting this on youtube.
My Mom played this as a lullaby for me as a kid... statistically, whenever I hear it, my HR drops to about 70 and (normally) I'm asleep almost immediately. Awesome relaxation tool.
Welll...you played a lot of it wrong. When it starts playing the harmony notes at about 0:56 you played 3rd intervals when they should have been 6ths /watch?v=T_ViGY67MY4&feature=related#t=1m50s
@cassie10255 o_o umad? calm down xD it wasn't exactly a mistake in the sense that he didn't play what he intended to, he had the notes wrong, and i was only hopefully helping him find out what the right notes were so he could play the song as closely similar to the original as possible.
There are certain stages in the music that makes me think of glad, sad, scared, and it ends on a very happy note; I like to pair it with Thomas Cole's 4 stages of life!
This is amazing, thank you so much for posting it. I'm currently learning how to play this song and it's nice to see it being played. So thank you for not only a beautifully played song, but also for the help. :-)
Damm you play sooo GOOD! im 14&iLOVE David Lanz, &iOnly know the first 40 Secs, and iDont know almost nothin about the piano, only the letters xD But im learning this by trying to see which keys you play and also by ear(: Hope i learn from this:D
I have been browsing youtube for piano solos to play and I think this one is sure to win over the audience. Thanks for posting and feeding my inspiration! I am 17 and have been playing the piano for 11 years now all self taught and though it is a little plain, sometimes less is more, which in this case it is. In short, so long Fur Elise, I am playing Cristofori's Dream.
Two tiny mistakes? Well no one noticed them or even cared to notice them while listening to this. Very very well done. I'm 15 and I play piano strictly by ear and I've decided by my 16th birthday I will have taught myself this. I could read sheet music but I just might do your version instead :)
I am learning to play this song. I am 13, and I have already decided that I want this song played at my funeral. By the way, amazing job on the song. I couldn't tell the difference between that and the actual song.
Love this song. My Mom listened to a David Lanz cassette tape when she was in labor & delivering me. She said she remembers hearing this song come on right after I was born. It holds a special place in our hearts :)
I love this piece, It is sentimental to me as well. When I was little, after my mother put me to sleep, she would jump on the grand piano and play this. Wonderful!
so the first time i heard dis i was about 9. my daddy had played it for me. i had already started piano lessons by then and truthfully i hated piano. but when i heard this song i really wanted to learn it. so at first i tried to play it by ear since i didnt know how to read music well at all. then i just gave up on it. i am 17 now and i have been practicing piano one again and now i can play the whole piece fairly well. i thank me daddy for keeping me in piano :D <3
Calbee I would also be very grateful if you can rendition more of these sentimental/soulful pieces (I know you've already have a few in your collection like River flows in you and Mariage D'Amour but I can't get enough of it). Once again, thank you for introducing me and others to this beautiful piece. I await eagerly for more renditions alike. =) Cheers.
Hey calbee I read your home page on how you go about learning piano and it's very inspiring. I just have a couple of questions. Once you learned how to read music sheets, do you go straight to playing this piece, and just keep practicing it? or is it better to play some simpler songs first? And also, how many hours did you practice each day? I really want to learn piano so I can play this song and also Mariage D'Amour. I hope it doesn't take me 5 years =(.
I love this song! This piece sounds really familiar. When I heard it for the first time I felt like I've heard it before. If that makes any sense whatsoever haha.
this is so cool...I love the way u playing...really awesome..I love david lanz songs..so beautiful and deeply touching..can u try play lost in paradise by david lanz also..same like cristofori..that song also a bit sentimental... XD
This is a beautiful peace. David Lanz is quite the music artist. You play it beautifully, thank you for posting this video. I am teaching myself how to play the piano, and i'm in the prosses of learning this song. It is my favorite song on the piano, and you play it well. I may not be a piano expert, but i can tell when something sounds amazing.
I am thirteen and i am also trying so hard to learn it. I have been playing for seven years now, so i think i can master it... thanks for sharing this! you play so well!
You could be a piano teacher... or even a piano star!!!You are great, don't listen to other people if they say bad things about you you are perfect!!!
This is beautiful, amazing job. This song gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it, and the first time I heard it I almost cried. I am now trying to learn this song by ear, but sheet music would be much easier, do you know where I can find it?
e-waters has chosen this piece to accompany its newest inspirational videos, "A Letter from God" This music is fitting: devine, contemplative, hopeful, sublime ... You have played it here with great feeling and depth. Thank you. No doubt, it is therapeutic to break from studies and immerse ones' self in beauty. Tho your studies must be complete now, I hope you're still playing, and will share more of your talent. I am learning it now by ear with the help of your video ... thank you again!
wow...you play it very well..im 13..im working on this piece now..i love it and i love david lanz...i started piano lessons about 2-3 years ago...b4 that i have been teaching myself since i was about 4 or 5
@1PeAcELoVe3 im kinda like you. im 14. used to take piano lessons but dont anymore. i teach myself a little. i want to learn this song its beautiful. good for you sticking with the lessons wish i had :) keep it up
I think it's a real piece, a beautiful song and I love to play as I have seen many videos of this song and I think this is the best I've heard lots of luck and keep playing well you're on the best way.
I played piano from the time I was 8 until I was 18. I recently started playing again due to problems with depression. This is the first song I turned to. I listened to this song on the Narada compilation CD that my parents had growing up. I am now 23 btw. This is an incredibly difficult song to play and I give you major props!
Let's be fair here. It is certainly a beautiful and moving piece, and the performer clearly performed it well enough (although some parts need more shaping), but there are parts of this piece that I wish were shorter. Mark of a good piece of music is that it's not boring to the audience. When a music is boring, is it really the audience's fault for not being sophisticated enough, or the composer's fault for not being creative enough?
I don't concider 6:35 to be that long, though. There's a longer version than this. I just don't understand how people can be bored by it, although everyone, I suppose, has their own style and taste when it comes to music, but if this type of music does not suit you, why would you then click on this video? It boggles the mind... Obviously I am not asking you directly, but "sinepecunia".
I clicked because it's nonsensical to discuss any piece of music without at least listening to it, even if it's critical.
I suppose I did come off too strongly. Music, I think, is a conversation between the composer, the musician(s), and the listener. It takes all three for it to work, but I've felt in the past the listener tends to receive the most flak for "not getting" a piece of music.
The piano sounds vibrant, and you play this with great feeling for the pauses at the end of each phrase. A lovely balance between your hands as well and this is so enjoyable to listen to! Very Well Played!
You can have the chance to learn something also from video like this one...I am enjoying each second of your performing.!! The maximum of stars.....from Rome...and thanks to Terry (Bocafriend) for sharing!!
You're very welcome. I have genuine enthusiasm for sharing such treasure among my friends. As you see! And you can also see how lovely they are in friendship, based on the sensitivity and regard they have each had for your work. And even their graciousness in acknowledging me for bringing you to their attention. All because Judy Esther shared this video with me! : ) I love your other covers as well. best wishes, ~Terry
Dear Jonathan, I wish to express my deepest respect for your eloquent performance of this enchanting piece, and warm wishes from a new subscriber/listener in South Florida. Perhaps next time I can call you Jonny as you wish, but this was too elegant to forfeit the appeal of your formal name! : ) ~Terry (tempting to say Theresa for once but don't wish to confuse you!)
I learned this piece in a weekend. I don't even play piano properly, I found the sheet music and it's a lot simpler than it looks. It's pretty muck 4 different chords in the first section and 5 or 6 in the second. Really quite simple. I just couldn't stop playing it.! My parents hate it when I play it now because I've played it too much. :) Calbee219 - You're my idol.! Thanks.
This song is so close to my heart. My father used to play it all the time to put me to sleep. He was an artist on the piano. He passed away 5 years ago, and I have always wanted to learn to play it, so I can teach my children. Thanks for putting it up on youtube. I've been trying to learn from your video how to play it. Keep on playing!
Read the information, it says it was written and created by David Lanz. He is the composer of the song. You can find him on itunes or on CD in pretty much any cd store.
The album is also called Christofori's Dream. Not sure if I spelled that right. It is an old song, and very good one at that. First time I heard it was early 90's.
Nice work for the person playing it. Sounds excellent.
i really really really really really really really really really really really really really want the original solo Cristofori's Dream music sheets for piano., anyboyd know where or how??
my english is not bery good, and i speak spanish ok?, bien, me encanta como tokas el piano..en especial esta pieza, ke la toko con la flauuta, mientras tu tokas yo toko cno la flauta, hariamos una buena pareja de musicos, bye, and thanks for ear-me
were did I put "bery" ? Sorry, I'm not sure. And, about "correectar", its "corregir". "esribi" = "escribir". And "englise" = ingles, "dehestes" = "Dijiste"
I had been trying to learn this by ear and was doing great until the 2:14 mark in this vid, haha. anyway, the sheets are really helpful too, im finding. so thanks for the whole package, lol. you really do do a great job with it.
he has the link just click the it and on the page even tho its in a differnt language ull figure it out it said like pdf er something i think lol if u have too much trouble just email me chirano213@yahoo and ill reply back with the sheets attached.
I love this song. You do such a great job on it. I have been working on it for months to memorize the song. I have small hands so the octaves are difficult as well. I find if you use the very tip of the keys it works better for small hands. But you did a great job on the song.
An octave is just comfortable for me, but after practicing this song for a couple hours, my hand REALLY hurts, haha. I'm jealous that this guy can play an octave with his first and fourth fingers...

And even their graciousness in acknowledging me for bringing you to their attention. All because Judy Esther shared this video with me! : ) I love your other covers as well. best wishes, ~Terry

Sometimes, when I hear a cover played by a, for me not well known musician, I struggle with myself, do I prefer the original or the cover.
In this case I prefer your performance!
This is absolutely beautiful and you deserver every single star I can give you here!

Thanks.

i really love this song!
my hands are small, so my only problem is trying to play the octaves throughout the piece.

I have the same problem, and my fingers in the middle sometimes hit extra keys and make it sound bad...

Mi Espanol no es tan bieno que degamos.
Me tambien, talgual que tu escrivistes(algo as si. :/)
Quiero prende todo este.
Tambien que es ear-me? Nunca cuche.
cutiegirlpup 2 years ago
I think you are trying to say:
My Spanish isn't too good (Mi español no es muy bueno, que digamos),
Me too, like what you wrote (Yo también, igual que tú dijiste, (algo así)
Also, what is ear- me? I never heard that.
También, que es "ear me"? Nunca lo había escuchado.
P.S. With "ear- me", I think andeitakiki means "hear me, listen to me" or something of the sort.
wolfdogboy 2 years ago
En englise, tu dehestes, "bery". Para correectar, es "very".
Si, tengo problemas para esribi en espanol, mas para hablar e todo eso.
cutiegirlpup 2 years ago
were did I put "bery" ? Sorry, I'm not sure. And, about "correectar", its "corregir". "esribi" = "escribir". And "englise" = ingles, "dehestes" = "Dijiste"

I love this song. You do such a great job on it. I have been working on it for months to memorize the song. I have small hands so the octaves are difficult as well. I find if you use the very tip of the keys it works better for small hands. But you did a great job on the song.
ChateauCtn 2 years ago
I have such a hard time with the octaves because my hands are so small...
Yellowcard8807 2 years ago
me too! i can just barely stretch an octave!

An octave is just comfortable for me, but after practicing this song for a couple hours, my hand REALLY hurts, haha. I'm jealous that this guy can play an octave with his first and fourth fingers...

i know what you mean! and yea when i see him with those fingers, it looks so effortless hes so lucky lol
