  • great, could pass Interto slow to touch it, or tablature, thanks and greetings from Argentina're big greeting

  • why aren't you famous ?

  • what's that bass?

  • This is a pretty good Jaco tone too! just get it a little poppier sounding

  • This is so good. I've been trying to learn it by watching but, no luck. Would you mind getting tabs?

  • MarloweDK > Jaco

  • fuckin'awesome!!!!!

  • Are those 32nd notes at the end?

  • Comment removed

  • @x1te 16th note triplets

  • great job. btw do u have tabs for this?

  • Cool stuff! Jaco invented modern bassplaying...

Check my channel for more interesting bass songs...

  • Really nice! How do you keep your picking hand relaxed while playing this way? I always get my hand hurt after playing Teen Town or any Jaco tunes...

    Cheers!!! Love your videos!

  • nice

  • are you accepting students?

  • Yes i am, se the link in the info box

  • You are an astonishing bass player! Very impressed!

Jaco did show the way for a while but there are some pretty cool bass players around now who, I think, are tighter and amazing to listen to. Love the online lessons man! Stefan

  • Honestly a great freestyle!

  • You have the Jaco style down, with a little extra. That was awesome.

  • The whole video is awesome, but I had an eargasm at the very end of the vid, when you used 4 fingers. It was still so fucking tight and regular in the tempo! Awesome!

  • marlowe! you are the best teacher, i wonder which bass do u use right now?

a standar jazz bass ? or the deluxe??

  • it's a marcus miller jazz bass :D

  • Anyone who knows Marlowe DK knows he has soul. To know him is to soul him....

  • Hey that was a nice line - fast and sweet. It didn't really have a lot of soul though..

  • fast and tight man!

  • nice one... ;)

  • R.I.P Jaco, Long live MarloweDK

  • very short but fucking awesome!!

  • Ok... i gotta ask... how do u get it to sound like tht? lol

  • it really helps to turn of the neck pick up completely off and put the bridge pickup all the way up

  • how do you get ur neck to be to shiny?

  • is it? havent done anything

  • @MarloweDK marcus miller's jazz bass neck is shiny ^^

  • Its called an expensive Marcus Miller bass, and when the price goes up, the quality of the materials goes up, hence a better looking and sounding bass guitar

  • Wtf?

    It's the lighting.

  • shiny basses come from not leaving them around to collect dust. PRACTICE!!

  • @traben555 It comes coated with a polyurethane finish

  • @traben555 buy a bass with a poly-finished neck? lol

  • @traben555 thats the inlay most likely

  • @traben555 Maple necks that are one piece (meaning there is no attached fingerboard/the fingerboard is the top side of the neck) are usually finished to prevent warping

  • @traben555 glare from a window

  • Hi, on this sound clip of "Havona" Jaco play with 3 fingers with is right hand at the and of the song.

    best.

    Franck.

  • your name should be up there with the all time greats like wooten, graham, jaco, and entwistle

  • your name should be up there with the all time greats like wooten, graham, jaco, and entwistle

  • to brianreading:

Its skipping frames, original is 25, compressed only 15 frames, hence the jerky motion, You're right it looks kinda speed up...

  • lol! lookin' at your transcription ..~.~.. :) wheres the tempo!? lookee here .. Sweet vid man. how do those 16th nte triplets at the end sit? 1ana1ana2ana2ana3ana3ana4ana4ana..ONE!..... ?? or no?

  • wow, you really can make the jazz bass sound!!

    great player you are

  • I was hanging out with my uncle the other day and telling him about you (he's a fellow bass player... and he's quite good as well). Anyway, I showed him your slap stuff and he asked if you could do anything else. So I showed him this video and he was really impressed... much more with your finger style than with your slapping!

  • just to clarify... your slapping isn't unimpressive (of course). he was just so much more impressed with the fact that you could do more than just slap (and do it well).

  • my god, u've got the 3 fingered thing down, thats amazing lol. i've seen your 2 "lessons" on it, they're pretty cool. great job on this, sounds just like jaco

  • what happened to your knobs?

  • rest your bass on your left leg, then your wrist is much less likely to bend naturally

  • Cool. Hey, er, where are the knobs on your bass?

  • Any chance of showing examples the Richard Bona type of playing? The combined jazz-afro-cuban-afrikanna sound has always amazed me.

  • And the picking kinda stuff he does...It's much harder than he makes it look! :p

Have to say I can't get enough of Jaco's and Bona's tone!!

  • cool, thanks. ima practice that

  • so what are the advantages of doing your forearm like that?

  • less strain on wrist = more power = faster playing.

Takes some getting used to though, you get a bit tired in your shoulder

  • that forearm position is what i used naturally when i first picked up a bass.

once your use to it, it can really give an edge

  • I agree with Yux77, teach us to play like that! (please)

  • i thank your parents, for giving birth to you!

  • Hey Marlowe,

It would be great if you could post this kind of groove in one of your 'bass groove shool' video (I mean same kind of stuff but slower too ;).

I'm trying to play Jaco's sytle basslines but I don't get it, don't know how to play, how to mute... help me :)

Anyway, thanks for all your videos, ça envoie la gouache as we french people say...

  • That's a great idea! Marlowe.. hope you know what you got to do next :D

  • Yeah!

    Marlowe... do it!

I'm studing Jaco, I really love his way to play and it is so actual, every one ho want to became a great bass playa have to follow Jaco!

Please make some lesson about the Jaco style :D

I will so glad to ya!

  • marlowe is jaco come back..

  • oh my god that some of the best 16th playing i have seen man

  • Must say that this is the most lame background beat you ever used :P

    Awsome playing as always :D

  • ...yeah: you definitely are a badass bass dude ! but when the hell are you going to make a record ? there's a lot of great stuff here, just make sure not to fall into banality with the other instruments: there's nothing like fusion of genres !

  • Im making a tutorial site first i think with video normal slow versions and sheet music with tab do download

  • now that's good news Herr Proffessor =°D ! and if you do some workshops it might be worth a trip to Copenhagen to have some nice smörebröds while practicing yer 4 strings !!

  • waaaah awesome ! besides, talking about attitude, I think the bass players with that forearm-rest-on-the-body and angled wrist really do look a bit like sissies, so this thing about straight wrist angle makes you look more like a badass dude ! ;o)

  • Well, even better then:_D

  • otro pedo esa madre =D

  • Gracias (I think...)

  • Yeah, thats true, but the straigth angle really promotes playing strength, so im happy:-)

  • that is a lot of fun..

  • Nice, you are awsome! I love watching what you do.

  • amazing
