  • I liked this film, it was really good but I was disappointed in some ways. In the UK ( I dont know about elsewhere) this film is sold with British and American troops on the front and the blurb on the back of the box makes no mention to it being set in Germany and only has one small picture of German troops. I brought it thinking it was a British/American film so I was a bit disappointed when it was not about that. (Napola was not mentioned on the UK edition box).

  • @toyotasera55 However, it turned out to be a really great film and I recommend it! It shows an interesting part of German military history as well as history within the Third Reich in general and shows it in a great, entertaining and thought provoking way. It was really good! It was nice to watch a film where the Germans were just as human as any other person in WW2 for once. The grenade scene in the trench is rather sad.

  • TOM SCHILLING <3

  • i cried so much. i didn't like that end...

  • one of the best movies i have seen in a very long time. Great job

  • The best movie, I've ever seen! Respect!

  • I've been searching for this movie for ages

  • Best Movie

  • this movie is soo sad, i've cried so much

  • ich liebe diesen film.

  • Wtf???

    This is from Führerns Elit

  • @FNKOMH It's got many names, Before the Fall is the english name for it, Napola is the original name for it.

  • just watched this its brilliant....

  • I'm German and I am glad that America has helped in world war

@juliano9000 ohh you mean the kiss of albrecht and katharina

    nochmal danke an euch..

@BOY68BOY dir auch danke es ist nett das du es weist ich meine es liegen schon 62 jahre zurück..

  • THe only thing that I miss on this film is a kiss between Alb and Freid. I wish the director would've gonne deeper with their relationship, really showing the struggle of a young gay teen couple inside hitler yout. I think it would be groundbreaking and beautiful. Sadly he only showed it in a superficial way focusing on the horrors of nazi, wich, altho are good, are also kinda overused and not very new.

  • @juliano9000 But i doubt they were gay. He was just portraying a very deep and true friendschip between the two that a lot of boys (and girls) can have. As much as i wish they were gay, I seriously doubt they would ever have kissed.

  • I loved this movie so much that I rented it from the video store and never took it back cause I couldn't find it anywhere else.

  • @pinkprincess9113 Blockbuster is closed... so I can't really do that. Great idea though.

  • Tom Schiling is so cute in this film. And yap he's good actor!

  • I thought Napola sounded Italian? Maybe started in Roman times.

  • @DavBlc7

    NaPolA stands for NationalPolitische (erziehungs)-Anstalt..

  • Nazis did a lot of horrible things, but I think one has been overlooked. They have destroyed the image of the strong...forever. Now if someone in public is worried about his "folk" (if you will) he's racist, but if he has the balls to try and defend it then he's a nazi! Yes, I am taking about immigrant problems.

But damage is even bigger than that. The strong often in movies and such are the bad guys, but the weak are praised. So yeah, flame away, but that's how I feel.

  • it was sad... :'(

  • this film is great, unlike americans only make films telling everyone their the best and most powerful. their films of WW2 suck becuase they try to make the nazis look horrible, stupid and weak. they have to look at the facts.

  • this is very great movie..i love it

  • This is such an amazing movie! Love it!

  • As far as I'm concerned, snow never killed anyone.

  • I cannot wait to watch this!

    Love German films!

    ...and Germans.(Buts thats a different story ;))

  • I agree with ThirdCultureKidTCK. I never saw USA being so open about Hiroshima and Nagasaki, camps for the Japanese during the war, as TCK mentiones the genocide of Native Americans, or any school teaching about the Soviet 'Communist' (Stalinism as a matter of a fact.) ways of control that still has effects on my country, eventhough it's gone for 30 years already... Well done Germany :) Let's hope every country will follow this example!

  • Wow, hot Nazis.....

  • FINALLY! I searched for an hour and now I've found it! =D Il ove ww2 movies from the german perspevtive, its better movies. Many american ww2 got so much drama in it, makes me puke sometimes.

  • @Edange What are some other german films from the prospectives of germany? during ww2

  • @kyodaie

"Stalingrad", "The Boat" (Das Boot)" and "Downfall" (Der Untergang) are good German war movies.

  • we're watching this in class, but its all in german "/

  • great movie, i love it (:

  • Now look at all the mediocre leaders out there. Take Herman Van Rompoy for example. They picked the biggest weakling to be the leader of Europe. I love when Nigel Farage of England harangues him!!!!!! ha ha ha...we need more leaders like Nigel Farage...we shouldn't be afraid of our heritage. Soon, Europe, Canada, the US, New Zealand and Australia are going to be fighting for our life. God helps us. Perhaps it would have been better if Hitler had won...the West wouldn't be so wimpy now.

  • @rmcnnlly are you saying you want deliberate mass termination of human being through extreme measures?

  • ...just watched it.... very good movie

  • Germany make a lot of good movies actually.

  • super film hab mir gleich gekauft !

  • Max Riemelt. <33

    Er ist einfach wundervoll

  • greAT film

  • Das ist sehr gut Film.

  • "The Wave" (original titel: Die Welle ) Is a great german movie too! even with the same actor! its based on the book of morton rhue ..its awesome you should go and see it :)

we watched napola in our histroy class, it was so sad! i feel so embarressed to be german when i hear of this times. it was so wrong. if i 'd be in that time i 'd have tried to stop it :(

    amazing film!

  • @ShinySunMuffin chill out, it's not your fault :P

  • @ShinySunMuffin Your embarrassed to be german? You sir are disgusting and pathetic.

  • @EvilKorbinDallas You obviously dont understand the horrible guilt that germans, especially the ones from the generation of the war and the generation directly after, but also today, have to deal with. they are constantly reminded of the atrocities their country committed against humanity, less than a mere century ago. My german teacher speaks all the time of how even now, it is taboo to display national pride in germany. get with the program, man.

  • @tweaker25 sorry, i meant to @ that @ShinySunMuffin

  • @tweaker25 I am German, and I have full understanding of whats going on. I get bombarded with racism yet I brush it off because I know, not every German soldier commited a horrible act. All they do in the schools is teach millions of things that some are even made up, they force holocaust down childrens throat to make sure Germans and other Europeans dont have any pride left in them. But you mustnt forget the great things the "Nazis" created and done

  • @tweaker25 Why focus on 1 thing such as the holocaust when the Nazis did so many other great things?1 bad thing shouldnt scare the pure greatness of them. And also don't forget the hidious inhuman war crimes the allies did during the war? oh wait you don't get taught the bad things because the allies won.. ironic, they dont ever mention the bombing of dresden or the massive rape by the soviets? Heck they dont even talk about the Bolschievik genocide? Funny thing the Jewish are with their lies

  • @EvilKorbinDallas The jews are worst than any people on this world.Im not even nazi, but hitler had right to remove them from europe. They are pathetic parasites, destroyers of other races and cultures.

  • @MrMadman881

you know it's very sad that you think like that because not every one is the same not all people in one race are bad because a few people might be. if you say the jews deserved it ( and no i'm not a jew incase you were wonderin) than you mean that the childeren deserved it to, childeren who weren't even old enough to be accused of such things, innocent people, families who were murdered just because of people who had the same argument as you. you should think about that

  • @EvilKorbinDallas

I think you are wright about dresden and al the rest they don't teach you enough about it and that's very wrong

at my school we had to read a book : het stenen bruidsbed from Harry Mulisch. i don't know if they have it in your language but it's a book about dresden and i saw the war a bit different after that . not all germans were bad or did something bad during the war and not all alies were good and did nothing wrong. that should be told too.

  • @tweaker25 And their outragous hate towards the West and Europe.. lmao

  • @ShinySunMuffin You obviously dont understand the horrible guilt that germans, especially the ones from the generation of the war and the generation directly after, but also today, have to deal with. they are constantly reminded of the atrocities their country committed against humanity, less than a mere century ago. My german teacher speaks all the time of how even now, it is taboo to display national pride in germany. get with the program, man.

  • @ShinySunMuffin dont feel embarressed.. every nation has something they are ashamed of in their history.. but if u dont think that way then it is ok...NOT ALL germans were or are like that .. and "nazis"/racists exist everywhere.. and the most important nazis werent even germans.. hitler was for example austrian.. and i dont blame all the austrians for that!!

and people who tried to stop hitler and didnt make it were murdered.. so i dont really blame people who were afraid of it..

  • I tried to find information but I couldn't , was there in reality this type of schools for the ss ??

  • yeah, they were called Napola. When I was an exchange student in Germany they made me watch this film on it lol

  • Yeah, think of it like todays boy Scouts but here they trained them to fight and shoot; get ready for the war.

  • Look at Wikipedia. Napola is the shortword for Nationalpolitische Erziehnungsanstalt. Boys with "aryan" familybackground and very good school certificates. They were trained in every way to be the next german elite of generals, governeurs, gauleiter,....

  • @franmorella Yes, the Schools actually existed. There's a TV series called Hitler's Children' which you can watch fro free on the Internet. Episode 3 - Education - deals with Napolas. It's a great watch despite the boring title. There's also a book called 'Hitler's Children' based on the TV series. It's surprisingly moving.

  • @franmorella Yes these schools for the elite really did exist. Search youtube for a documentary "The Waffen SS 1/5", it shows footage from one of the castle schools.

  • This move was awesome!!

  • I love this move!

  • i have a dvd on this movie...this is a breath taking movie

  • yeah its sad right? I havent seen it yet but i think that the world wars are saddening

  • Downfall, Fatherland, The Boy in The Striped Pyjama etc

  • @GermanLegende88 I think you are TOTALLY right there.

  • DOWNFALL!!!

  • can anyone tell me where i can see this movie?

  • Excellent education for a wrong cause.

  • Napola is a great movie! It's interesting and emotionally very moving. And beside that it's very well shot and with great performance by the actors. I think this movie is a bit overlooked considering it's high class. I definitely recommend it:)

  • me too! i saw it last night, i thought it was Great! the only thing that disappointed me was that i had never heard of it before.

  • The movie quality is so much better than shown in this video. By that I mean, this trailer is really bad, and don't watch it and think the movie is anything like this.

Its a great movie, and you should really see this.

  • @Draious - Disagree! The trailer is great and helps you understand the movie. But the movie is even better!

  • me puse a llorar cuando muere el amigo :(

  • I think it's admirable that Germany has had the courage to openly confront its past repeatedly through film, in movies such as Napola, The Wave, Der Untergang, etc. Canada and the US remain cowardly in refusing to confront their own genocide of Native Americans.

  • well said.

  • @ThirdCultureKidTCK I think there are many books written and film made by Americans to bring that to the light, the killing of Native Americans. It is not really cowardly, i had seen many films about it and read books about it as well.

  • @ThirdCultureKidTCK Very true. It shames me as an American that we point fingers at everyone else and rarely ever admit to our own tragic faults. It's pathetic, really.

  • @ThirdCultureKidTCK Canada and the US still are too cowardly to confront their own genocide of the white race and the ethnic cleansing of white Christian civilization.

  • @ThirdCultureKidTCK We have. Bury my Heart at Wounded Knee and a few others. Britain needs to fess up too, for they have done some pretty horrid things as well.

  • @americrevolutwar1777 Not as a society. Not the way that Germany has. Britain most certainly has.

America is unique in it's inability to confront their past transgressions, because a third to a half of Americans sees such basic lesson-learning self awareness as inherently anti-American, & a sign of weakness at best - if not outright treason for daring to attempt to address settled history.

You know who I'm talking about.

They'll not allow THEIR America to admit it's made up of human beings.

  • @ThirdCultureKidTCK

Instead asking why Canadians and Americans are so "coward" and evil, Canadian and the US need to ask "if the US/Canadian government didn't wage a genocidal warfare against the First Nation, is there an alternative for these government to solve the dispute with diplomacy?"

  • Just watched the full movie recently, the Movie is Absolutely Terrific! Even way better than I had expected.

  • d best movie i've seen.

  • This movie was sad

  • I can not find this movie anywhere!

  • cant u buy it from amazon?! thats where i bought mine. ild upload it onto the internet i just no fucking idea how. =p great movie!!!!

  • Well, I've seen it there, but I went to rent it last night and couldn't find it in town. Small town though. I'll find it eventually. I really want to see it though. Looks awesome.

  • ugh yeah i know wat u mean! i spent quite a bit from getting it from america to new zealand! sob my poor money! gud luck!

  • netflix has it

  • I'd like to see the movie in italian language.....

  • HUH... Trust me, it's WAY better subtitled more realistic and interesting.

  • Why there will allways be so much moral aspects with, when somebody makes movie about Third Reich era. I´m absolutely sure that people during that time have not thought those things all the time. They had life to live. Government comes and goes, butt still people live full life. They have fun, they fall in love, they have sorrows and bad days. Natzism was not the main thing in their minds. Germany was normal country not land full of little brouwn evil martians from outer space.

  • @BOY68BOY it's national socialism

  • My daughter and I loved the movie. She is 13 years old and studies national socialism and the 100 years before Hitler. This helped show how ANY culture can fall prey to this type of brainwashing. It can happen anywhere, anytime.

  • PERFECT!

  • Important Lesson: The Nazis believed that human traits that we today are supposed to value e.g., humanity, empathy, compassion, sensitivity, were signs of weakness & must be eliminated to foster militaristic imperialism. At the Nuremberg trials, Nazi Hermann Goering explained that this could happen in any country. Such is the nature of too many people.

  • I love this movie Friedrich is just the best and i can't stop to cry for the Albreicht dead ='( this two actors are so handsome!

  • What the hell! Stop these fucking chain letters! Goddamn it, no one believes in those stupid freak messages anyway, so fuck off!

  • very good and quite powerful

  • REALLY GOOD MOVIE

  • is this out in nz

  • S'my favorite movie. I bawled. A lot. <_<

  • I saw this movie a couple of nights ago, Oh my god it was beautiful! I have to see it again!

  • I saw this movie last night and I loved it.

  • I knew you would. =P

  • I think he's great too! =P

  • I think Tom Schilling is now my favourite German Actor along with German Actress Fanke Potente. I loved this film.
