If you are 35 feet away, and you don't need to fire a real gun, how can this device possibly be justified? And because its "just a taser" the decision to use it on someone will be considered trivial (compared to bullet).

Plus if a criminal gets a hold of this he wont be such a threat as someone with a gun, or even a baton if they know basic rules of engagement and its use. Police now are trained to jump and hit for vital points at signs of aggresion, when they might not know if the person is schizo or just a cold blooded killer

Dude why would a cop shoot someone in the face from 8ft away before grabbing his handheld taser first? Cops have their shotguns mounted in the passenger compartments of their cars. If faced with an immediate threat wouldn't it be way easier to grab the taser mostly cops carry in a holster? Even their firearm would be more convenient than running back to the car to grab their shotgun. This XREP thing is for when cops are knowingly going into hostile situations where force is necessary.

Public disruption not including peaceful non-confrontational protests, will only make you look bad and possibly get you shot with one of these XREPs.
