Black Helicopter Over Vancouver

This Helicopter clearly has markings all over it. Last week I saw Two Unmarked Helicopters flying back and forth over the highway during rush hour. Then a day later I saw another one (Black and unmarked) flying around a house I was working at in Vancouver. Anyone know the story with them being unmarked like that? I assume RCMP searching for someone or something. But why unmarked?!

Common guys, the most popular color for a helicopter is black. The bloody news helicopter is black for gods sake.

I have seen this helicopter before, its one of VPD's aerial traffic units.

VPD does not have an air wing. The helicopters used are Eurocopter and Integrated amongst all lower mainland police detachments, the helicopter is white and has RCMP markings all over it. It is known as Air 1 and Air 2

@MRSWS338Lupua Yes, I know all about the helicopter with RCMP markings called Air 1 and Air 2. However, my mother (dispatcher for the RCMP), and a few family friends (2 RCMP officers and 1 VPD officer) all say that the black helicopter in this video is part of the VPD. It may not be marked as "VPD" with it does co-ordinate with them very often. If VPD needs it, the pilots (and helicopter) are always "ON CALL".

Poster really needs to think before posting this video. Clearly a Blackcomb twinstar as noted below. These have markings in gold which can be seen 1:53 -2:04. Blackcomb helicopters is also contract to do Olympic promotional footage as well non-military search and rescue. These people are under contract to take HD footage of around vancouver and that is exactly what they are doing

That's Blackcombs Twinstar with what looks like a tyler or wescam nose mount camera, probably filming promo for the olympics, most certainly not a FLIR cam, and the lack of any "distinguishable colours" does not make it military or foreign gov't. All you need is visible registration for the CARS quote.

I live in Burnaby and hear helicoptors flying overhead nightly around 2:00 - 3:00 am. I have always suspected that they are searching for grow houses.

that is a bell helicopter not sure which series, you can tell by the coppy noise and open tail rotor

Interesting. I figured I'd pop onto Youtube and see if anyone else has managed to capture photos/videos of this black Astar helicopter in the Vancouver area.

Its been flying a grid over the downtown area around dusk today, seems to be focusing on Granville St. Exact same aircraft from what I can tell.

What do you make of this? I managd to snap a few pictures from my balcony, but not videos. Also upon researching it, this aircraft is most certainly not the RCMP helicopter tasked to Metro Van.

Probably a DEA helicopter checking for thermal signatures, Terrible. With this recession I dont think they are going to be too keen on getting rid of the people generating all this profit that they put back into the economy.
