Scottie was a once in a lifetime player as well because he was basically Magic Johnson with athleticism and able to play defense. Magic was a better passer but Scottie had him beat in every other facet of the game. Mike was the BEST, Scottie was a beast and they also both scored 40 points in the same game once. The best 1-2 punch in any sport other than Montana and Rice!!!
Pippen is better than Lebron by far. he never had to average 20 plus points wen jordan was there cause they played as a team and they knew his position to defend and do the dirty work. Need to look at some more footage of pippen and you see he did everything. and when jordan left those two years he did average about 25 plus a game and led the team in about all the major stats and went to the ECF. Basketball much softer now and if half the people played today back then would cry like Bosh
That's just sick, when do you ever see teamates getting a triple double in the same game, un-f''n real man, the same teamates who also were only the 8th teamates in NBA history to score 40 or more points in the same game, it just shows you how special of a dynamic duo MJ & Pip were, the best duo in NBA history, hands down.
@SanctifyXu Even if you're right that he's not better than LeBron, he's still top 50, EASILY!! Also, he avg 20 or more in 4 seasons. He coulda avergaged way more but A) he played with MJ, & B) he was extremely unselfish, and took way less shots than somebody like LeBron or most other stars. Easily the best defender in his era, possibly a top 3 defender of all time. Give Pippen his credit and stop hating. He's a legend, & not only top 50, but top 20 for sure, maybe higher.
@SanctifyXu Na man I disagree. Pippen is easily top 50 and is a much better all-around player than most people in today's game. I'd still take him all day over LeBron, and even Wade too. He's a better offensive player than both of them. Pippen is as good if not a better defender than LeBron, and he can play the point as well if not better than LeBron. The only people I would consider taking over Pippen would be D.Rose, Kobe, Durant, & Howard. But I would most likely take Pip over all of them.
lebron james did the same play as 0:48 and it was deemed one of the top two plays of the playoffs this year. MJ does the exact same play and I've never seen it until today
@BigdogH201 I respect your opinion, but I disagree. If you wouldn't take Wade up to this point in his career over Pip, then I don't get why you would in 2 or 3 years. Pippen did everything as good or better than LeBron, except James is probably more explosive off one foot. I can understand why you said Duncan in his prime. Hard to go against that, also hard to compare a 3 to a 4. For me, that's a toss up but I can see why you'd take Timmy. I'd also take Pip over Kobe without hesitation
@Loudmouf84 Kobe is top ten. Pippen top 40 (my opinion). Kobe is the better scorer, higher basketball IQ, better shooter (my percentage), clutch player, athlete, and dominated player. Pippen was a role player who wasn't clutch, couldn't make his teammates better, and a notorious inconsistent scorer. I think Lebron is slightly better than Pippen. Based off the fact that he makes his teammates better and basketball IQ.
@BigdogH201 Sorry but I completely disagree. Idk how you can put Kobe in top 10 & then say Pip is only top 40. Scottie had one of the best Hoop IQ's ever, and he was way more than just a role player. He was option #2 on the Bulls. He was a fantastic athlete, a damn good shooter, maybe the best defender of his time, and MJ wouldn't have 6 rings without him. Let's not forget the MVP-worthy season he had (93-94) when MJ was gone, still went 7 games against NY, and lost on questionable officiating
@Loudmouf84 Okay...Pippen was a liability in the half-court game (sometimes!!!) He couldn't always move without the ball (like Lebron today), inconsistent scorer, and would've been a number 2 on NJ (with Derrick Coleman) or GS (with Sprewell). Now, Pip's clearly better than Coleman or Sprewell...but he's not a catalyst....he's more of a faciliator....or a second option. I'll agree that MJ needed him for those championships....but Pippen wasn't going to lead Chi-town (or a loaded Portland team)..
to a title. That's a bonafide fact. Without Jordan touching the ball in 94, Grant and Armstrong (magically) had career years. Those are two legit good players. Remember, Cartwright was a 20 and 10 player in NY and Armstrong had to bottle his game for Jordan (and the fucking triangle). Plus, he had a rookie Kukoc, Paxson/ Kerr to shoot the three, and Longley (who was a solid bench player) to come in for Cartwright. Despite having an MVP season in 94, he still had the talent around him.
Going back to my original point....not leading a team to a title (whenever or not a ref robbed him), not being able to create baskets for self or making your teammates better, is a sign of a weak basketball IQ. Pippen lead an under-talented chi-town team to a 34-31 record. Jordan came in and subsequently closed out the season with a 13-4 record. Flash forward to the 1997-98 season: when Jordan was without Pippen for 35 games...he lead them to the Central division lead....with the same team....
....Pippen had in 1995 (minus the Worm). Point: He didn't have a very strong basketball IQ. Pippen basketball IQ was only apparent on defense. He was an intelligent defender.....not an iq basketball player. Now he was an all-around player, who had more comparents than a Swiss Army.......but didn't posessed the basketball intellect of a Jerry West, Magic, Bird, Barkley, or Jordan...making him an inferior player. At best, Pippen was a "smart enough" player....the guy who learns enough "to get by".
@BigdogH201 Man I think you're selling him short bigtime. Scottie made his teammates better, just like Jordan did. 93-94 he avg 22pts/9reb/6dimes/3stls and the Bulls won 55 games. Sorry but that is damn good and that Bulls team wasn't stacked. You gotta understand that Pip was unselfish & knew his team would be better with him doing more than just focusing on scoring. He was the definition of a complete player. I can state stats from every year but it ain't just about stats....
@BigdogH201 ...I completely disagree with you about his hoop IQ as well, and idk how you don't include defense in how you determine hoop IQ, but it's a huge part of it. On offense, Pippen came up huge all the time. No he wasn't the BEST offensive player but he was damn good. And if you wanna say he wouldn't have led any team to a title, I can go ahead and say LeBron hasn't been able to do it yet in 8 years, & Kobe hasn't done anything without All-Star Bigs down low.
@BigdogH201 ... Also, in the 97-98 season, when Pippen missed 38 games, the Bulls actually started the season 12-9 without him before they started to take off. So, it definitely showed that he was absolutely necessary to their success, and they weren't nearly the same without him as they were with him. Without Pippen, that team is not winning 6 Championships and losing 0. Pippen is the most underrated, under-appreciated superstar ever (aside from Mitch Richmond) & much higher than top 40.
@Loudmouf84 Good point....but i emphasized "35 games". Plus, they were first in the division 38 games deep. Not the first 21 games. Remember, Pippen practically had the same team for 65 games in 1995 (before MJ's comeback) and lost 31 of them. Point: MJ's intellect was stronger than Pippen.
@BigdogH201 Ok but I never argued that MJ wasn't better than Pip. Of course he was. MJ = GOAT. Of course the Bulls were at some point gonna take over 1st place, MJ ain't gonna let them fail. But it just goes to show how difficult it was to adjust to playing without Pip. As far as the 94-95 Bulls goes, yea their record wasn't spectacular. No argument there. But, let's not leave out the fact that it was the 1st year without J.Paxson & H.Grant. It was a year of change & much of the team was new.
@BigdogH201 Ok.... You'd have to name off them 35 players. I guarantee you I will put Pippen over a bunch of them, including a couple you already named
@Loudmouf84 Okay. But remember two things. One, this doesn't (except for the first two) go in any particular order. Two, this is my personal opinion: 1. MJ 2. Bill Russell 3. Larry Bird 4. Magic 5.D-Wade 6. Oscar 7. Kareem 8. Shaq 9. Kobe 10. Jerry West 11. Dr. j 12. Hakeem 13. Barkley 14. Wilt 15. Rick Barry 16. George Mikan 17. Tim Duncan 18. Moses Malone 19. Bob Petit 20. Bob Cousy 21. Elign Baylor 22. Isiah 23. Lebron James 24. Stockton 25. T-MAC 26. Patrick ewing
@BigdogH201 From this list of yours I wouldn't put bob cousy, bob petit, and d-wade (I would put d-wade, not on top 20) , and seriously, you put all HOF behind bill russel? He just had a better team, look at Wilt. He was faar better than him, but just didn't had a good team. Look a 67 playoffs. Wilt's team dominated the entire playoffs! The only time I agree that russel was better than wilt was in the 1969 finals, were they won in 7 games
@miguel151420 Bill Russell was the smartest center and more dominant player than Wilt. Wilt had god-like skills and athleticism. However, Russell made his team better and always knew how to win. Wilt didn't always help his team win or make his team better. And don't hit me with that b.s. about him not having the same teammates. Wilt couldn't beat him in 69 (with a loaded LA team) or Reed in 70!!!
@BigdogH201 You're seriously telling me that russel was better than wilt? You're kidding right? So you mean that Bob Cousy and John Havlicek weren't that good? Or was russel who made them better? If you can't remember, the only time, as I said, that Russel was indeed better than Wilt was in 69. Uh? Reed? You're joking right? Remember that Chaimberlain nearly missed that season with a career-threatning injury on his knees, and was 10 years older than Reed... So don't come with THOSE bullshits!
@miguel151420 So you mean that John Halivcek and Bob Cousy weren't that good? No. But Wilt did have Chet Walker and Hal Greer. Plus, the Warriors and Sixers always pushed Boston to six or seven games match-up. And had a clear shot of beating them in the1965 NBA Conference Finals. And I never said that Reed was better. I said he couldn't beat him with a loaded Laker team in 1970!!! Chamberlain missed that season with a career threatning injury in 1970? Yet, put up 22 ppg in the playoffs!!!
@BigdogH201 That's how you see who was, indeed, the greatest! Yeah that 1965 ECF was a pain in the ass for wilt. If it wasn't for "Havlicek stole the ball", nba history could'va changed... a lot
@Loudmouf84 27. Bernard King 28. Kevin Garnett 29. Dominque Wilkins 30. Jason Kidd 31. Willis Reed 32. Pistol Pete (scoring, IQ, and fundamentals) 33. George Gervin (more dominant scorer and clutch player) . 34. David Robinson (no argument here). 35. Allen Iverson And two more: 36. Alex English (great overall player despite the lack of defense). 37. Earl "The Pearl" Monroe
@Loudmouf84 So...was the start of the 1988-89 season with Cartwright being traded from NY for Oakley!!! And Pippen getting the starting job from Brad Sellers!!!
@Loudmouf84 Point: The Bulls were in a transition point in 88 through 89 and got better. You blame the 95 drop off (from 94) on a transition from the first three-peat champions to the second three-peat titles.
@BigdogH201 Right, and the 94-95 Bulls were in a transition year as well. It's really not a big deal they were only 34-31 with Scottie. After all, they won 55 the year before with him as the leader. Like I said, they didn't have key starters from the previous year anymore and the team was going through changes. I'm not saying Pip was gonna lead them to a championship without MJ, but let's remember that MJ needed Scottie just as much. They were perfect compliments to each other. Perfect duo.
@Loudmouf84 And remember, they lost Horace Grant who was a huge rebounding and offensive force. Pippen couldn't do all by himself much like Jordan couldn't in his early years
@miguel151420 Precisely!! And not just Grant, but also John Paxson. Most people don't even know how good he was. He was a huge part of the Bulls 1st 3peat. Starting point guard on all 3 teams and hit many clutch shots. Anyone who hates on Pippen doesn't know what they're talking about
That dunk at 2:00 is unreal, more like a video game. Jordan was basketball God at this point in his career regardless of team accolades, ie championships.
@Bryskie7 thats just dum. wade and jordan no where close. LBJ and pip, no where close. lets see LBJ play some defense and develop a consistant jump shot.
@dlawson688 u must b crazy...anybody that can average 30+ with no jump shot is the best. he dont need the shot to be better than pippen, he's far better than the pip
@Bryskie7 yup but LBJ always want the ball in his hands .. unlike pippen finds his spot ... and jordan pass it to him ... or harper pass to pippen ...
i don't understand what you sayin 9th teammates duo to each have triple-double? is it for basketball world like all the leagues? bcoz in NBA the only team with two players with a triple-double in a game are Pippen-Jordan and Kidd-Carter
it would have been the greatest basketball game of alll time if Bulls only have MJ and Scottie vs the rest of the Clippers, and still won.

@dlawson688 u must b crazy...anybody that can average 30+ with no jump shot is the best. he dont need the shot to be better than pippen, he's far better than the pip
younggp20 1 year ago
@Bryskie7 yup but LBJ always want the ball in his hands .. unlike pippen finds his spot ... and jordan pass it to him ... or harper pass to pippen ...

i don't understand what you sayin 9th teammates duo to each have triple-double? is it for basketball world like all the leagues? bcoz in NBA the only team with two players with a triple-double in a game are Pippen-Jordan and Kidd-Carter

@StarkyStar I know right. I will look it up.

@StarkyStar Jordan had 41 points, 11 assists, 10 rebounds, 2 blocks, 2 steals, 1 turnover. Pippen had 15 points, 12 assists, 10 rebounds, 1 block, 2 turnovers.
The only other time this has happened is when Vince Carter and Jason Kidd did it with the Nets (I think in 2006-07)
