Parents think nothing of sending their kids to after school math lessons until they are very good at math but feel that it is unbalanced to have a kid who excels to the same degree in music. In this case, we can see the natural desire being freed from debilitating convention. Please answer this as I am interested in your reply (not to tear you down).

Hey... Wow, someone's interested in my opinion... There's actually a bunch of factors I could list here. So first of all, it's okay that she plays the piano for all I care. It's a challenging and creative process, so why not?

But I have the strong impression that stuff like this is not just about support, but rather show-off. 'Cause, you know, they uploaded a video. Parents put high hopes in their children to compensate own suckyness. Kids might be stressed and psyched out and everything.

OK. Call it what you like, but in the end the child benefits from having developed parts of her body and mind that couldn't have been done in another way (other than music) and also gets great enjoyment out of it. The ambition of parents is why so many more young musicians are enjoying interesting lives than say 50 years ago. You can get an impression or feeling about these things, but this is not the case for me. It is my life. I am not giving you opinions (although I am interested in yours).
