The L on the Fine Primer just denotes "large" can (180ml vs 100ml)
The regular surface primer is good...just a tad thicker than the fine primer, and may cover fine details.
If you can't find Tamiya Primer, give the new Vallejo Primers a chance. Spray them through your airbrush, pre-thinned, ready to go. Give you more control over your primer, as half of the Tamiya is usually wasted in the fog around the kit.
