I aam disabled, unable to work. My father did not like animals. My mother did. She made the sacrifice. So did I when volunteering at the shelter I found a cat I loved. I had a second opportunity when I found an older man whose two cats I took care of during the day, a domestic white longhair and a calico. Both were strays. The man took them off the street. I had somewhere to go and two friends and a small payment. When the man died I could not take the cats. His sister took them to the shelter.
Heh you might be his first love too. If you taught him he could trust humans by taking him out of his cage and on your lap, you might have made him more easily adopted and not have to sleep in/put out (if they do that with animals no-one will have).
It was a happy ending for me since he was adopted and not put to sleep, i hope his new owners adore him :)
That story is so sad and heartwarming...I'm sorry for your loss, but happy for Roger's gain of trust in humans because of you.
Roger reminds me of my own orange long-hair, Sylo. He always cries out in upset tones for seemingly no reason, and after three years in my care, still attacks me randomly sometimes. I think he was damaged by the 6 months of his infancy he was kept in a dark basement by a cruel breeder, with no human or feline interaction...Roger probably endured something similar...
@katelynn1900 What? Have you never lost a close friend, not necessarily by death? Trust me, it feels just as bad, if not worse because I know he's out there still and I don't know where he is or how he's living.
You did a good thing with Rodger. Did you give him the name Roger? Anyway, I am a trapper for spay/neuter and have come across a few feral cats that sometimes make the switch from feral to friendly. Roger is lucky to have had you in his life, and obviously, him in yours.
@janeaustinadmirer I didn't name him, but somehow it definitely worked for him. He answered to Roger, and not much else lol. Thanks for the nice comment :)
I understand how you love Roger.I a Cat for over 14 years. He perfomed a few Tricks and Hugs lei your Rodger.I'm sorry he died 2 years ago.I golt a new Cat but it's not the same.First of all he is still young and is not so well "trained" as my old Cat or your Rodger.Take care.I a appreciate your Video.5 Stars
@nagmashdriver lol I know, it's not even remotely good music.. If there was a way to replace the video rather than deleting and re-uploading, I'd just upload the version with no BGM.
@AK49BWL Well,,, if you say it does then it does. People just get too harsh with others here. I love the video - if you look at my videos I have wrestling Jake the maincoon.. he looks just like Roger
@motojeff He looks much like another MC Jake I spent time with a while back, he's got a couple vids on my channel as well... He wasn't quiiite so aggressive though, haha! Your cats are awesome, love the vids :-)
You did good Brandon, really, really good. It's truly inspiring. I'm so very sorry you didn't get to adopt Roger but through your love & commitment you've given him a chance at a decent life. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with Roger.
There'll be others who come into your life in the future & you will be able to take care of them like you want. They won't replace Roger but they are all unique & special in their own way. Thanks so much for everything you gave sweet Roger.
Brandon, I was so sad for you when I read this and saw your video last week. I decided to wait to write, hoping for just the right words. Well, they haven't come, so I'll just share what's in my heart.
Please don't think there was no gain. The love you gave Roger will always be with him. And your special connection with Roger will always be with you. What you shared is a blessing some people will never know.
Brandon, You are one in a million, you saved his life truly-Not only Roger but many, many cats. t- Our beautiful girl Leda(Smokie) is the queen of our household. We adopted her on 6/18 and can't imagine life without her. She brings us such joy. She still goes Laser crazy! She will skid into the walls full blast after it ,we will do a video of it and post so you can see. it is hillarious! Keep up the wonderful work, you are a special, spiritual young man,a St Francis of our times-Jan
Oh, sweetie, you'll soon learn that meeting ANY life goal is a bitter pill. You MET your goal of turning Roger into an adoptable cat. Meeting goals sucks!
I've had 3 or 4 Special Cats in my (47-yr) life, ones that loved me as much as I loved them, and I can hardly describe how hard it was for me to lose them to old age.
That's the pain and horror of loving cats: They do not live as long as we do.
Then you return to the Animal Control Shelter, pick up a kitten, and say, "This Is The One."
This cat looks exactly like my little guy Tiger. Was Roger part Maine Coon?
lismichelle86 3 weeks ago
@lismichelle86 I would personally have believed he was ALL Maine Coon lol. But probably just part :)

My cat Kato: I adopted her when I was 20. She died of old age when I was 37.
This cat moved with me to 3 different cities over the 17 years I loved and lived with her (a small black cat).
I still recall how I cried and hugged her dead body when she died (she was 17) 10 years ago.
She defined an era of my life. We loved each other.
And still, it's worth the terrible pain, to love a cat for so many years.
Roger LIVES, and is likely happy. Please join me in Rejoicing in that!

OMG, I was SO afraid, when you said he was sick, that Roger had died! I''m So Glad that Roger got adopted!
He may be "Gone" to you, but he's definitely not "Gone" to this world. Huge sigh of relief!
Get yourself some kind of job, my dear, get yourself your own home, and you can experience the JOY of living with a much-loved cat, for 15+ years.
Sending Cat Love, snuggles, and purrs.
Honestly, I believe you're well on your way to a life like mine: FULL of the joys of cat people! LOVE!
