@Mikisization yeah but hacking isnt the only way you can have her use dark magic, theres a glitch in the game in the lava stage where you can control the enemy units and have the gorgons, and those eyeball things give their attack items to your supply. after you do that you give their attack items to tethys or any magic user and after a couple attacks and kills using them they'll get a grade D dark magic allowing them to use Dark tomes

With glitches you can teach any character dark magic, with a tiny bit of rng abusing to make her get 10 strength you can teach her luna and have swordmaster speed with the best luck and around 90 avoidance while ALWAYS doing 10 damage lolz

I have used Tethys in every battle i fought so far. She's just so epic win. An extra unit movement can make a difference :] Let's say you wanna heal someone but there's rangers and mk's in the area so you can just go heal your character, use tethys to make the healer move again and move him/her away. Her stats are pretty godly too, 27spd/29luk/16def/19res :]

@powertothecoloured If your Tethys is able to attack twice and you have character animations turned on, the game will freeze because Tethys has no "return to standing" animation. If she only attacks once, as shown, then there's not supposed to be any bugginess.

Meh, nevermind. Tethys counts as unpremoted, so her capped Dark magic rank is A.

But she can use 3 good spells with A in dark: Fenrir, Luna, and Nosferatu. Just not Glepinir (likely misspelled, I'm talking about the Dark Sacred Twin) or Naglfar. And every weapon in the Link Arena has Inf usage.

Which is a stupid idea anyway. You can't put someone with 10 magic into the Link Arena. So yeah, I'll just go with Crimson Eye.

i say, tethys should be upgradable into a spelluser. i have trained her to level 20(non-stop turn ending/dancing...200 dances...) and she still isnt upgradable... she sucks... even a MASTER seal cant do it... hard work and for what? so she dodges most attacks and has 31 health w/o items...

However, if you count Nils/Ninian as a single character, they have more time in the game, thus they are better.

Actually, her dance ability is more useful than any other ability in the game since it's virtually another steal, heal or powerful fighter attack of your choice.

Not to mention how her stats and supports make her a reliable dodge tank.

She's God Tier for a reason.

Tethys is not God Tier. She's not even top tier. I would personally put her in high tier.

Tethys is ONLY as good as the unit she dances for.

And with a base movement of 5, it's a challenge even to place her in the front as a dodge tank.

Also, keep in mind that she gets 10 EXP per dance, meaning she needs to do at least a good 100 to 150 turns of dancing before her stats are solid enough to be a "reliable dodge tank".

Tethys is classed as a God tier character.

Also, she reaches her dodge tank ability far earlier than you think. Her initial avoid+two full avoid support means she has higher avoid than most endgame units. And she will grow this higher all the time.

Well, that means she's as good as the best characters in the game since she dances for those. Try again.

Tier lists are based upon how USEFUL a unit is in a particular walkthrough. Therefore it's completely subject to change depending on which mode and difficulty.

I would never give boots to Tethys when, based on the tier list, they could go to Tana, Franz, Gerik (Eirika route), or somebody of the likes.

All of these units are designed to be combat tankers with moderate control of the weapon triangle. To be using Tethys on them (if she could keep up in the first place), is just being roundabout.

Tethys is ranked above all these characters bar Franz, and as a matter of fact she and Franz are the only god tiers.

She can make your best unit move twice. Thus she is technically your best unit because of her dance effect. That makes giving her the boots very likely.

Two level makes you somewhat of a poor tactician. Looking at the maps, most of the earlier maps require less than 10 turns (=1 level) to finish.

Most of the later maps, yes, would allow Tethys to level up 1+ level per chapter if you decide to bring her.

On a note of personal preference, I would much rather give the boots to a flier than to a walker. But that's because I'm a ranked-run person.

Few character reaches 30 mag, even with a support. And those that do don't use black magic, which is soundly beaten by the much better Anima. Also, considering how most spellbooks has more than 10 mt and most enemies less than 7 res, Luna is almost useless. It's only good for taking down bosses with high res.

First of all, individual stats have nothing to do with supports. Supports are combat bonuses after stats and terrain have already been taken into account.

Secondly, Druids and Summoners are not known for high skill, and yes, they almost always end up with 25+ magic.

I will second that Luna is broken as hell in FE8 compared to 7, with 50 hit as opposed to 95 and 10 crit as opposed to 20. But given the nature of the enemies in this game compared to FE7, SKL points don't even matter.

Luna is not broken in this game, and wasn't in FE7. It's a boss killer, but against any other enemy that isn't a mage, it's inferior to flux.

I know that supports don't have anything to do with individual stats.

Also, to reach 30 mt, you need 27+, and few Druids/summoners reaches that.

Druid Knoll has 26.6 mag on average- so he will maybe reach it.

Due to the fact he has no offensive support affinity- he can at maximum reach 29 mt on average. As a summoner he has 25.9 average, so 28 mt

Ewan averages 25 mag roughly as either summoner or druid. He can reach 30 with supports, but that means they lose out.

He has to support with two of these three:

Tethys(who would want an avoid-boosting support rather than Ewan), Saleh(who is just a bad character on the whole), and Ross(who is decent at best).

Canas averages 24 mag, thus he doesn't reach 30 even with full atk support.

it's the control enemy glitch. you use it to get the creature spells like stone that anyone can use and level up dark magic until you get lvl D, then you can use normal dark tomes. what he's doing is dangerous though, b/c tethys doesn't have a pull back animation, so if she attacks twice, the game will freeze (so you should turn anims off).
