While all electric power cars would reduce the amount of smog in congested cities, the power needs to be produced somehow. And the cost of maintaning the 7,000 lithium-ion batteries and other special parts on the tesla is far more expensive than comparable gas powered cars. What bankrupts families is wanting a 40,000 dollar plus vehicle just to impress people you don't even like.

I guess some people dont realize how cheap that is for the benefits this car has. Over a period of.. 10 years, you pay OUT YOUR ASS for gasoline, (thousands of dollars) Electric engines are very reliable.. so That means you can save money on paying NO GAS, and very rarely on repairs.. which are a fortune sometimes
If you get a solar panel installed on this car.. you make electricity so you dont have to charge up as much at your house. When you brake, it charges the battery as well.. Awesome stuff!
Besides, this car will most probably get cheaper since its so much simpler than a combustion engine. I imagine cheaper to make too.
we all need one of those, when i win the lottery i will definitly buy one of those, i would love to outrun a ferrari or any high power car, with an electric one! :-)
