Don't know if your aware of this: the Red Videodrome chamber where half this scene takes place, was going to be the setting for an alternate ending. After SPOILER WARNING FOR VIDEODROME VIRGINS, Max shoots himself he finds himself in the chamber with Nicki and Bianca and a transsexual orgy occurs between them. Nicki/Bianca now have phallus shaped hands which they insert in Max's "abdominal vagina". David said "Well my version of a happy ending, Freudian rebirth imagery plain and simple". Ha!
Chris Rodley noted that constant references to "The New Flesh" may have been clarified by this scene: suggesting a more satisfying fleshy existence beyond death. Somewhat interesting since David claims not to believe in an afterlife. Anywho after much thought David decided onscreen it wouldn't work, it might have have come off as laughable.
It was never shot. He thinks the theatrical ending was the right one, so that's that.
