  • I think this guy should strip that dam system, get a LSD, and learn how to drive better, stage 2 clutch and a b18 would have been better than a b20.. displacement isn't everything dude.And if you reeeeally wanted a swap or a 2.0 motor you should have went with a K20. I have a 01 GSR and I've ripped on a few ludes when i was STOCK. I'm in the process of going all motor looking to get about 210-220whp on pump gas. b18c1 ftw

    Thats not the same. A b20vtec is a crv motor (2 liter) bottom end mated to a vtec head. The b20/21 that came in the 88-91 preludes is not compatible with all the other "b-series" eg. b16a, b16b, b18c, b18c5, etc...

  • @nicknoel684 just bolt ons for the most part, it was a JDM h22a with a LSD trans. lol m2b4 it was a very clear win man lol and he has less miles lol but the b18c's are pretty well race engines.

  • @INTEGRA1180 i think people forget that even though they make the same hp, the h22 has more torque but the gearing is not as good for short distance runs. but if you do a h22 type s with a b series tranny in a light car....then im sorry no other stock build is gonna beat you except maybe a type s k20 with a 6 speed but that is also a new type of motor and has a six speed....

  • @INTEGRA1180 it's cool, i'm calm. i guess i've never seen what the big deal is about h22 since i saw a civic with a type s h22 get pulled (slightly) by a b16 swapped civic. both drivers were very good and had been racing the strip for years.

    all that aside, going back to the original comment from smfiou, it just seems uneducated saying "prelude with h22 is much stronger then any integra type r" when they're similar in power but an itr weighs less and has better gearing...

    A b20a stock has 160hp & tuned around 200hp.

    a h22a has 187hp & tuned around 220hp.

  • When you are saying B20 integra the most common assumption is that the crank from a B20 was taken and added to tha GSR's B18 head which is already Vtec.This would easily pop the engines performance along with bolt ons and head work to 250 engine bhp at the very least...No one is taking the B20 CRV engine as it is and installing it on a civic or integra because we all know that it has less horses than a stock vtec engine...So please dont give me facts trying to seem smart .

  • not really, a b16 will make around 130-140hp to the wheels, and like 110 torque... a b18c1 (gsr) will make 150 to the wheels with 120 torque... a crv b20b (in a civic/integra) will make 140-150 to the wheels and 130 torque... no vtec, almost the same amount of power, and WAY more torque..

  • you both have good arguments about the H22 vs B20VTEC setup. but the one thing that the B-series has going for it (that a lot of H22 owners complain about) is their transmission gear ratios. A B16, GSR, or ITR trans has optimal gear ratios. Which is why companies started making H2B kits, so you can run a good trans on the H22. More power/torque doesn't mean much if the transmission doesn't put it to the ground any good. H22 transmissions suck. H22 is an awesome motor, trans, not so awesome.

  • Then you should know what to talk smack about and what to stay quiet about. The H22 is a monstrous engine and before the K20A, it was the best 4 banger honda had to offer.

    I have built a few Honda engines and one of them being a B20VTEC 89mm x 85mm bore. And I can truly say that the H22 is still dominating. The reason why most people doubt the H22's ability, it's simply because of the head work.

    If you don't know how to manipulate the H22, then you wont be able to produce a proper setup.

  • I know plenty of people with H22 preludes breaking into the low 14's and high 13's on very very moderate setups. I know if the weight difference wouldn't be there... guess what?

    Oh and FYI, I have a full drag EG... I've been in this scene for 9 years now and have had a full array of hondas under my belt.

    However the only downfall is that I actually build my setups from bearing clearances to degreeing my cams with various temps.
