  • 5 people decided to go outside and play...

  • @daytonaturbofreak and get anally but fucked...

  • Its NOT hard to play, but theres a specific rhythm that you have to keep AND the never forget: you dont steer the car but the environment around it, so it helps when youre a bit (or a lot) drunken.

  • I like to put on some ambient, droning music and play the endless drive variation. You just space out and you start to think some strange things, like who lives in those houses near the street? Are they angry that you are driving so fast and loud at this time of night? Where are the hamburger cars in such a hurry to get to?

  • i like this game i rock at it but its damn hard and i like your opinion

  • technology at the time was ok IMO...my best games was raiders of the lost ark, pitfall, keystone kaypers and breakout...hys.. playstation x box will fade like many systems did.. Atari, Colecovision NES, genesis will always be classics..btw? your car looks like a cannon lol

  • I think it's a pretty good game.

  • I think this game was also released on the Commodore64 as "Knight Rider"

  • Actually even GT6, or any game looks like this on the very first day of development...

This is the kinda concept that you give out to the programmer, you see the results a day after, and you jump into the harsh conclusion of "scrap the project while we can!", any age and state of technology.

  • I tryed to play this on my iPod......I will never try that again...

  • this game looks like it teaching you how to be a wrackless driver :)

  • This game looks too hard to have fun with.

  • pretty nice looking cars on the label art.

  • I guess I'm lucky, my Night Driver cartrige is being an asshole and I haven't gotten it to play yet

  • add me ps3 sk544

  • Thanks for posting.I played this game for hundreds of hours. It required the paddle control. The red button on the side was the accellerator.

  • The first Drunk Driving Simulator!

  • I am glad you guys went away from your old openers. Watching this makes me feel like watching the opening to NOVA on PBS back in the 80's. I am waiting for Slim Good Body to come on after I watch your older reviews lol.

  • This game is fun *because* it's badly dated, if only for a few minutes at a time.

  • This game seems frustrating.

  • YOU CAN PLUG YOUR iPOD INTO YOUR 360!? GOD, IMMA HAVE TO TRY THAT!

  • ya! i can wait to make street racer - the night show and stret racer - original for the nes!

  • this...game...was...awesome ...ok....AWESOME!

  • Night Driver is based on the arcade game, yes?

Is the arcade game any better?

  • This game looks like it's hard as shit

  • @vittau it is

  • @vittau I had it, and YES it was hard!

  • I actually have this game. I played it maybe twice. It was horrible. The controls were beyond clumsy. When you had other games like Demon Attack, Cops n' Robbers, Indiana Jones, Star Wars (The AT-AT battle one) there was no reason to play this poor excuse of a game. I played E.T. more than this game. Now bear in mind I did all my playing late at night. We lived next to a creek that I spent all my day's playing in with my friends. We didn't have any fat kids in my neighborhood.

  • hahaha, this is one of the funniest reviews

  • I remember this.It hasn't aged well at all.The packaging is still nice though.

  • I remember playing this game WAAAAAYYYY back.

  • I remember this and i liked it

  • 1:17-1:22 LMFAO!

  • I actually really liked this game and I think you just might not be very good at it. You have to slow down sometimes and you need to remember where the turns are. There are several different tracks. One of the settings allows you to hear oncoming cars honking, so you can avoid them.

But as a kid I wasn't sure if you are driving an artillery canon!

  • Mate, you are playing Game 1 with the difficulty in the "a" position. Any Atari Fan knows...unplayable. Try again in "b" and then the game plays at normal speed. My late mother hated it because "it was too realistic"!!

  • The Legendary Night Driver. I never imagined, that I can see this.

  • I've been playing this alot recently, and really enjoying it.

Those sudden turns to the right though.. they are impossible.. the game just seriously seems to be a little buggy in those: you can NEVER seem to move to the left quickly enough, unless you slow down a good bit more than normal.

  • The best part about this game is the cover art on the cartridge.

  • Yeah, kind of like TOCA.

  • I had this. Using the paddle was impossible with this game. I would keep this game back in, hoping that I would get it. Eventually, my patience lasted about 30 seconds until I remembered how brutal and unrewarding this game was. Plus, that sound when you crash with the flashing white screen always just made me anxious and want to play faster. Then I would crash again and again, becoming neurotic in the process. Finally, I gave up on Night Driver and played Superman and ET for the 2600.

  • Superman and ET? oh man. Not the best choices in games there.

  • LOL!! Agree.

  • I loved this game when I was a kid

  • me too!!

  • I kept trying to break through the barriers and crash into people's houses.

  • Yeah, well back then there were no such thing as PS3 or X-Box 360.

    Sheesh...kids of the '90s.

  • @Trance1972 lol your right i was born in the 90s im sure my name gives it away your almost 40 huh what games u play these days?

  • He plays Custer's Revenge. No, actually there were some good games back then, but he's kind of an asshole so I say he's playing Custer's Revenge over and over again.

  • I´m a kid of the '90s. and I love old school gaming! Even I loved to play Atari 2600 games when my brother dusted off his Atari, I did enjoy them a lot :D

Like centipede, is one of my fav classic shooter games

  • @Trance1972 im a kid of the 90's and id rather play atari then some shitty current console.

  • @OverruledDood Amen brother

  • @OverruledDood same here, tho SNES is my favourite console :)

  • @Trance1972 Well, I'm a "kid of the 90's" and the main thing I asked for Christmas was an NES. Today I picked up an Atari 2600. I own a SNES, NES, Atari 2600, and Sega Dreamcast.

  • @Afr0cat

I still have my old Atari. It's somewhere in the storage shed. There are some collectors who will pay top dollar for it.

  • @Trance1972 I like your user name. I hope you never sell your atari. :)

I popped in this game after not playing it since the early 80s and I actually played it for quite a while last night. I don't know what people are talking about, I think it's a nice game. Too me it's a classic but probably because it holds a nostalgic value to me.

  • Interesting how the other cars look better than the one you drive in this game. XD

  • LOL, I have this game...but never had the paddle controllers :( Although, attempting to play this with the normal joystick was funny :)

  • Thankfully, I have NEVER had the misfortune to play this game. Seen snap shots and thought it was great from those. But, looking at the game in motion...WTF! This is some tweeker's heart rate going on overload! Everything comes at you so fast, dodging is impossible. Random chance is all there is. Thumbs down; no fun; end of line.

  • i LOVE this game

    you just suck at it

  • The Arcade version had no upcoming cars to avoid and also none of the decoration like houses and trees. Also it was in black and white (although it doesn't make lot of a difference). I think the road was narrower in the Arcade, so even without the upcoming cars it was propably harder than the Atari version.

Night Driver has been the first driving Arcade game that didn't use an overhead view but this "pseudo-3D" perspective style.

  • i do remember the original as well, the cool thing about it was just the illusion of driving in a "3D" environment, accented by the full size, 3- spoke steering wheel on the arcade cabinet

  • OK this game was kind of ass. Enduro humbles it.

  • I actually enjoyed this game. I never did like Pole Position. The best race game on the Atari 2600 was, in my opinion, Enduro.

  • Comment removed

  • I totally agree about Pole Position and Enduro... I'm thinking about whether I should get Night Driver for my Atari 2600 or not, but hearing from a fellow Enduro fan that it's fun, I think I'll go for it.

  • makes you wonder what video games will look like in another 30 years

  • Theyre probably sterotypical future holograms, 3D or just the same as now.

I can't possibly imagine what they could be... Maybe they have stopped playing video games and go play outside... Nah. That's never gonna happen.

  • 1978, my parents had a huge stereo system, I remember them listening to KISS records (vinyl) and playing Atari 2600. Great times.

  • Night Driver or Pac-Man...surely that's the lowest level of Hell?

  • @Tryzon E.T without the instruction manual is the lowest level of hell.

  • @kingkongbassbeat Touche.

  • This game brings back some BAD memories, UGHHH!!!

  • The box artwork was more worth than the game itself...

  • Makes you wonder if they playtested these games...

  • I really did hate this game. It was not fun at all.

  • I recall as a kid not being able to get past one crossup/turn thing.

  • Ha I remember this...

Man I spent hours playing this with my brothers and sisters.....lmao

  • i got this its hard

  • Shit, this makes pole position look good...........remember those toys that could be bought for a kid, that was basically a device that went over a kids lap with a steering wheel with a screen with the blinking lights and sounds that made a kid feel like he was driving?...... Well even that may have had a leg up on this game!!! Keep your vids coming, we lovem!

  • THIS GAME IS FUCKING AWESOME

  • oh christ. I can hardly tolerate watching this game. I would probably end up tossing babies into power lines if i attempted to play this game.

  • Ummm... Ok....

  • COOL

  • Yeah I had this game.. and yes. it was tough.. I played it a hour and after that it was pointless. Same poles and houses and cars.. I sitl have it and my other 250 carts for the 2600 in the basement :)

  • id have gone outside. love your reviews though

  • the game s.t.u.n racer, i think was the first desent 3d racing game

  • Yeah EXTREMELY difficult

  • My second grade teacher had this game. And Wizard of Wor.

  • your right on with this game !

  • hehe I like how you said you'd rather play outside than play Night Driver.

  • badass game but I like the label.

  • i remember playing this game at the boardwalk aww man good times...

  • Seriously one of the worst games i've played. Too fast controls, unclear lines that seem to be a road.

  • Busting out the cassette player, that is mad ghetto.

  • NIGHT TIME DUI*

  • they should of named this game "Night Yime DUI"

  • Hahahahahaha, that's funny!

  • I remember this game. it was the second game I got on the atari 2600. I spent hours playing this game, using the clunky paddle. ah, memories.

  • Had those old games an end, something like a final goal to achieve, or did you just go on and on without any end until you used up your last life?

  • I actually drove off the road once in this game lol

  • It can't compare to the Arcade version, since it was more easy to control.

  • Pre-headlight gaming at its best-worstest.

  • Your game-reviews are hilarious, please enjoy my subscription :D

  • Wow. Please don't watch his videos. Or mine for that matter.

  • hihiman is a little retro game hater...-.-'

  • Wow you think i'm a retro game hater? Your an idiot i don't even play games now. All i do play is Retro games stupid ass. Don't accuse people of shit you don't even know about

  • @hihiman gta 5 is not out yet and it was not even in the making when you made this comment

  • I remember playing this game at my grandmas house when I was little and I sucked at it!

  • XD! all this "Get Animated" advertisement you see on TV for kids, should probably endorse this game and pacman, so all kids would rather go outside

  • you may not want to make fun of this game .....

    BUT I DO!!!

    **insert childish name calling here**

nanny nanny boo boo stick your head in doo doo!!!!

  • Another swanky review!

  • awsome
