I live in Alabama and on the interstate I take to work, there is always the same stupid BLINDING road work lights. However, the majority of the interstate is well lit. This will happen anywhere there are super bright lights pointing into the driver's view along with no road lights !!
This stretch of the fwy has no lighting. Cal Trans on the opposite side of the fwy use blinding florescent lighting for construction. As you approach these lights, sometimes you cannot clearly see what's ahead of you. Tail lights from the cars in front become dimmed. On top of that the camera man's spot light is way too bright and he was pointing it at the drivers and waving it around. This only distracts drivers
In Germany they dont have a speed limit on the freeway but this would not happen as they use their 4 way trafficator or hazzard lights to warn vehicles behind there is a hold up ahead or they are arriving at a hold up i dont see any cars in this footage doing this.
also in europe some modern cars automatically switch on the hazzard light if the driver breaks hard. warning the drivers behind the fast reduction in speed. it is all only good as long as the drivers behind understand the indication

The fast lane on the 405 at rush hour can be extremely dangerous. People fucking tailgate you at 90mph 2 inches from the center divider, and the 405 needs to be repaired, the road is bumpy in areas.
I guarantee you that all this was a result of those damn construction work lights blinding the oncoming traffic. Those things are like 4 billion watts and most of the time aren't aimed in a safe manner. The contractor who was working on this highway should ultimately be liable for this pile-up (as well as the drunk van driver obviously)...

this accident was not caused by the construction on the north 405 and cones on the south, it was caused by the camera crews filming. What were they thinking waving their camera lights at traffic? Doing that only creates confusion by motorists

Please note that there were no break lights in front of the first car to hit, no hazard lights on the van, in fact, the tail lights on the van could have made it look like its just a car driving. And why would you slow down for a car breaking in the other lane? Most of the time its just someone to close so they back off a little. If your going 80 and a car is not moving at all, you can hit all the breaks in your car and still skid a very long way and hit it!

I'm guessing this is about 8-10 @ night. 2 lanes in construction zone, one van stopped, potentially hazardous. #1 any of these fuckin idiots that can push their cars off the road SHOULD instead of blocking traffic/creating hazards #2 In a construction zone you are supposed to decel to 25 mph #3 L.A. drivers have become increasingly stupid over the years- At fault- van-mustang-white truck for hittin the brakes-escort-accord. Were all these guys sleeping or what?

The fast lane on the 405 at rush hour can be extremely dangerous. People fucking tailgate you at 90mph 2 inches from the center divider, and the 405 needs to be repaired, the road is bumpy in areas.

I guarantee you that all this was a result of those damn construction work lights blinding the oncoming traffic. Those things are like 4 billion watts and most of the time aren't aimed in a safe manner. The contractor who was working on this highway should ultimately be liable for this pile-up (as well as the drunk van driver obviously)...

@dujmovich i know where you are comeing from but until you drive on the freeways in la u wont understand. we have a set speed limit of 65mph here so ppl tend to go faster. if you loosen the speed ppl dont tend to go as fast as they can. its a phenomenon. lol also when its dark u see lights in front of you without hazard lights you dont know its stopped till its right in front of you and going 90mph wont help. ;]

there's bad drivers everywhere, not just in the USA. And my opinion is that so far that I've seen is that us freeways are wider with better lanes than any other country. Except for the German autobahn.

this accident was not caused by the construction on the north 405 and cones on the south, it was caused by the camera crews filming. What were they thinking waving their camera lights at traffic? Doing that only creates confusion by motorists

Please note that there were no break lights in front of the first car to hit, no hazard lights on the van, in fact, the tail lights on the van could have made it look like its just a car driving. And why would you slow down for a car breaking in the other lane? Most of the time its just someone to close so they back off a little. If your going 80 and a car is not moving at all, you can hit all the breaks in your car and still skid a very long way and hit it!

Dont know if you are a driver your self, I am pretty sure you aint, because Its difficult to know whether to determine whether they are Brake or Just the Rear lights of the Cars, and you cant determine for sure until you are closed.
You also cant jeopardise slowing down, because it may have been just the rear lights of cars! THINK! Asshole

You've got a fair point - many police (at least in canada) were complete dickheads throughout their lives, and once they became police officers, they have just been on a massive power trip since. However, I do know a few decent officers of the law that have never drawn their gun throughout their careers. Its an unfair and offensive generalization to all of the good cops out there - but I do see where you get the idea
