  • THE BEST FUNK BAND TO EVER STEP ON STAGE AND THEY ARE WHITE.

  • @mmdelciello YEA THEY ARE FUNKY NO DOUBT ABOUT THAT BUT THE BEST FUNK BAND TO EVER STEP ON STAGE IS JAMES BROWN AND THE JBs FOLLOWED BY PARLAMENT FUNKADELIC DO NOT GET IT TWISTED

  • The producers should have FIRED this moronic host for "acting" like AWB was his " Boys", and then NOT getting the name of their song right. What a fuck up. Lay off those blunts you fuckball !

  • annoying hosts

  • No matter the line up... AWB for ever FUNK!♪

  • Pure F-U-N-K.

  • This is F-U-N-K-Y...open the window funky !!

  • who the heck is teddy carpenter?

  • Too Short

  • Just love these guys great music ok.

  • This is my Jaaaaaaaaam!!! AWB BABY!!!!! Sooooo Funky!!

  • i love the beat it's amazing

  • To see Hamish Stuart perform with AWB, check out the video " Work to Do" from this playlist it's live. From the first note you know it's him. Check out his moves. The dude was FUNKED UP..

  • Teddy Carpenter should have stayed home. Cut the Pieces, his diction is horrible. In 2010 Jasmine is in Atlanta doing stage work and she is still fine.

  • Condolences to AWB on the brutal slaying of their leader on Easter Saturday. ...Oops, sorry! Wrong AWB - LOL!

  • There are so many shows that were never picked up by the networks. This show I'm sure never aired. It would be hilarious to see out-takes of celebrities that tried to do their own talk shows but failed miserably. All the embarrasing moments and awkward silence from the studio audience. The guests that no one's ever heard of. Things like that.

  • What happenned to the black drummer that played with them in 75 I wonder ..They are One of the tightest best ever anyway!

  • @crfzero1 He died...drugs...I think.....He was the BEST drummer ever.

    What was his name?

  • great soul music by a great soul band...old school ... this is when you had to play an instrument or sing .....hey wasnt that little wayne playing guitar and singing....NOT

  • still lovin em' after 36 years!!!

  • cut the cake and pick up the pieces this is school boy crush

  • I must be so behind the time. Never heard this one. Damn funky tho. ;-)

  • On the radio constantly in the mid seventies.

  • Jasmine Guy is fine.

  • "Cut the Pieces"? Everyone knows it's "Pick up the Cake"!

  • @PQA13 Hahahaha!

  • Comment removed

  • Yuk, yuk. I love it.

  • Still fUNKY THOUGH!!

  • @PQA13 "Cut The Cake"!!!

  • those boys got soul !!!!

  • AWB, one of the funkiest bands ever!!! This completely knocks down the color issue, funk is funk , no matter what color...as long as its funky! Btw, I don't know if this host (Carpenter) is still on t.v. anywhere but he is really bad (not bad as in good, but bad is in really bad)! That was one of the worse introductions I have ever heard, AWB deserves better than that!!!

  • agree

  • Cut the pieces??!?

  • I know that guys a dumbass!!

  • hecka funky

  • THE absolute funkiest white boys I ever heard. Tight!

  • one of the most popular stepping cuts in chicago

  • Blues is in the blood, not the skin.

These blues-blooded white boys got it right!

  • I'm so happy these guys are still around. One cannot help but to compare this guy to Hamish. He may be out of the band now anyway, I'm not sure. These guys funk it UP like nobody's business !!!

  • jasmine guy what a piece of booty!

  • I was surprised to notice the average white boy on bass cover so well for Hamish....i'm impressed!

    Their music will live on....

  • eric b and rakim used the beginning part of this song for 'microphone fiend'

  • Funky crazy in the pocket funk

  • Awesome one of my favorite 70's funky bands

  • lol, Cut the pieces... horrible host...incredible band...prolly 3rd funkiest, behind parliament and ohio players

  • LOL, he mixed "cut the cake" with "pick up the pieces"

  • That Ninja did say, "Cut the Pieces". (LMAO)

  • U wana c me carve up da funky beats!! Dey b my farno hard!! Keep it cuzzies!!

  • The band was Bangin!! But the show sucked bad!!

  • It seems like I've heard of AWB but I never heard any of thier music. That's what I get for assuming because of their name that they were some sort of alternative/rock band. DAMN I was wrong. These guys are one of the funkiest band ever.

  • Funkadelic was the funkiest in the country.

  • AWB is still bad, after all these years.......

  • "cut the pieces" ...that's too frikkin funny!!

  • Who the hell is Teddy Carpenter?

  • must be hard when a great band last this long to hang on to the sound that made them famous...with line up changes that are bound to happen and all...i think they have done better than most to not buckle and keep to there rootsie funky soul sound...stunning stuff

  • Hammish went on to play bass with Paul McCartney & Wings. Not a bad gig..but what a shame.. he was wasted!..well you know..Mr McCartney cvan be funky too!

  • What a shithead. he said,' Cut The Pieces". LMAO.

  • what happened to jasmine

  • I saw AWB with Stephen Ferrone back in the day.

The band is awesome and Ferrone is one of my two favorite drummers in the world, along with Steve Gadd.

  • So, the tall guy on bass replaced Hammish? What ever happened to him? Why did he leave the band... This band was one of my fav's back in the day. Didn't Hammish wear one of the scottish skirts and stuff? Both Hammish and the other brother really made the band!!

  • is that sax player roger ball?

  • Just saw them live outside boston, different rythem section and still incredible perhaps better than ever

  • dis my sony whit boys who could sing there buts off

  • Did he say? "Cut the pieces" Instead of the Cake.

  • That's why the show didn't get picked up he couldn't talk to save his life. He got confused, he meant to say pickup the pieces, or cut the cake, but it came out cut the pieces, funny stuff!

  • He also said they were "my band" and the funkiest "in the country" (and they aren't from his country) and he looked at Jasmine Guy like "help me" and referred to her as "my.." but quickly corrected himself and she looked at him like "you're on your own, idiot". At least she introduced them. He probably forgot their name. ROFL

  • @isobari What the band should have done after that- Sing the songs just as confusingly, then ask the host," How was that ?"

    LOL

  • Yes Teddy did no wonder he didn't last long as a Host! But Jasmine is so Cute who care's thats funny he say's His band they have more talent than him anyway!

  • @soulserva60 Thoses stupid white folks . They cain't even jump .

  • @soulserva60 just dum 11

  • who's this new lead singer ,he's not the original, the tall guy playing guitar ? replacements never quite capture that signature vocal sound. I'm not feeling his voice, sounds cheezy! a cheap version of the original.but overall the sound is still tight!! love ! AWB!!

  • The tall guy is singing backup and playing the bass. He is the newcomer. Hamish Stuart used to sing and play bass/guitar. He left in the 80's and played with Paul McCartney for a while- he was the new Denny Laine for Paul.

I agree- this band without Hamish is still great, but they don't quite capture the old sound.

  • this is one of the greatest songs to skate on, when we were kids, we roller skate on this song. The DJ played this song every time the skating rink was open

  • This is a song that was a signature song for Average White Band that hit the souls of my youths growing up in the city during the 70's. I know, because that's what it did for me and my friends.

  • Great live performance of one of the best AWB songs. They are great in person if you have never seen them before. Also, the live CD available from their website (recorded at BB King's in NYC) is really good- excellent sound quality.

  • I do have to Admidt I like this version of AWB very tight Sound!

  • how long was this show on,and what network

  • It was a one time thing, 1 show, never got renewed, pilot, test show

  • I'm tired of Guessing who are the bass player and Drummer???????

  • Alan Gorrie bass, Onnie McIntyre guitar, Elliot Lewis, guitar, Roger Ball keyboards and Pete Abbott on drums. Line up has changed a bit since then.

  • Roger Ball saxaphone

  • I'm sorry to half to Correct you Reports but That's Elliot on Bass/ Alan on Guitar

  • Alan originally played bass

  • I know But him and Hamish switched a lot They both still play both Hamish still plays with Ringos Allstar band

  • It's called "Pick up the Pieces" not " Cut the Pieces"

  • I guess he had "Cut the Cake" mixed in :D

  • *jammin*

  • awesome sound & performance rdmnred

  • This is the one you're looking for. rdmnred

  • I was a fiend, before I became a teen, I melted microphones instead of cones of ice cream... LOL
