  • @Dywanne73 Too bad that era is LONG GONE. DC Black subculture is dead. Crack-Cocaine epidemic killed all that out. DC now means skinny jeans and pants hanging all off your ass with goofing ass colors on. The old days of DC are gone...Sad though. Native DC girls don't even look good like they used to.

  • @palmares77 I will agree, although I hate too. My kids are teens now, and the very same subculture that we embraced they can care less.

  • @palmares77 Amen to that! Used to come to DC from NYC cause the girls were slammin! Good ole days indeed.

  • a true classic! lets get small.

  • Coldcut

    "say kids"

  • And a remember, gentle people, Dr. Dre once wore purple sequins in a group that I cannot bear to mention the name and so I won't in the start of his career. Nobody has a lock down on this music and so.....it's yours!!! : )

  • haha the first tunes of the chorus reminds me of the "mute city" song of the snes game FZERO...

  • i thought the same thing! crazy SNES flashbacks

  • @FreshDeus

DUDE I heard this song on the radio today and thought the same exact thing! I kept waiting for the rest of it to kick in.

  • @FreshDeus

    holy shit good call.

  • this is the shit!!!Criminally sampled by the bronx bombers boogie down productions!!Too sick!!!

  • Criminally sampled by the bronx bombers boogie down production!!!Sick as hell!!!Soulrocka

  • Yeaaahh...the tune

  • dr dre was wearing pull ups and sequins when this came out....bow down fool and show some respect

  • Before their first album was even around, beastie boys early in the 1980s have gone on the record as saying TroubleFunk and this song 'Let's get small' as the best live band.

  • my man said he saw the beasties in DC at lolapalooza. they played this song and the non-DC folk had no idea what they were hearing.

  • Key words: 'non-DC folk'. There was a time when in the very early 80s, nobody knew except for NYC ghetto youth that were in the know who beasties boys were. I'm from San Francisco and caught the new sound wave in the early 80s and those 3 youths had every San Franciscan kid, including blacks, not knowing their ass from their elbows, as well as the rest of the world.

  • i must be misunderstanding you. you're not comparing people in new york knowing about rappers two years before i do to a fifteen year difference between this recording and a beastie boys show in '97 right?

  • I'm not quite understanding your question. I was just making an observation that the non-DC folk had no idea what they're hearing to when beastie boys made their first earliest appearances in the rest of the country and in my case, San Francisco, even radio stations like LIVE 105 had no idea who they were.

  • I honestly dont understand what you are trying to say but I live in Philly and we definitely knew about Troublefunk and the go go scene.

  • Ttlgunn, I was responding to another poster.

  • krs-1 and scott la rock - criminal minded

  • the beginning drumroll.... "bitches aint shit" by Dr.Dre on The Chronic

  • that's true but he didn't sample it.

  • Sorry, but Dr Dre was released ten years after this was first played (not released) by Trouble Funk

  • This jam defines the term- stinky dink.

  • It's shame go-go couldn't go international back in these days. This is dat real stuff. Reminds me of around da way on Good Hope Road back in da day.

  • the funkiest go go song ever

  • One of the dopest go-go cuts ever!! Let's Get Small.... sampled by many in the music business. We don't hate on hip hop. Go-Go and hip hop are cousins.....Whacha gon' do? Let's Get Small!!!!

  • KRS-One Crinimal Minded

  • Big Tony came through and turned the GoGo awards into the Panarama Room u hear me!!!

  • man....i was going to shaw junior high....sneakin in to the Coliseum....

  • the chant/chorus is from Kool and the Gang....Get Down on it

  • Wrong. This was played by trouble funk back in 1978. So either they both adapted from another band or Kool and the gang copied.

  • Chapter III, RSVP and the Room is where I got wet on this joint and don't forget about the Ibex on GA ave. Me and my boys used to get SMAAAaaallll!!! Yeah Bay-boy!!

  • Chapter III was my spot. Every Thursday and Sunday night. They had the male strippers on Thursdays, and the place would be filled with nothing but fine honeys!!!

  • Tuesday night Essence at the Chapter III as well (1988). The good ole' days!!!

  • My boyfriend just got small and it wasn't all I thought it would be. This song is misleading.

  • criminal Minded

  • Lookin 4 Trouble Live in concert. Grip it and hold it and the rest of them joints.

  • Capital Heights crew in this joint!

  • say what yall..eastern high 1975

  • Being from DC, this was the joint back in the day. Me and my brother used to listen to this on the record player.
