  • Why is Billy Joel using an English accent?

  • Led Zeppelin really was the best of the best. I don't think we may ever find another band like them.

  • "Well, Bonzo... was THE best hard rock drummer, ever! Hands down, I mean no one comes within a mile of him. (...) He was the best!" OMG! I love you, Simon! Finally someone agrees with me!

  • @Tinafigureskater I think Keith Moon would give him a run for his money. And what about Neil Peart or Cozy Powell?

  • Yes, The Yardbirds played "Dazed and Confused" and the melodie is kinda the same of Led Zeppelin's (only Zeppelin's is by far better), but man... you gotta remember The Yardbirds' "Dazed and Confused" lyrics... they sucked! While Zep's ones didn't... they were actually pretty catchy!

  • Page is the cutest when he's using a bow.

  • love how jim mccarty is like "oh yeah yardbirds and led zeppelin is kind of the same"...i guess every one can dream >.>

  • Could they not get the rights for Zeppelin songs to play in this documentary?

  • @idieinelevators Probably not. Led Zeppelin rarely give their music rights out to anybody

  • didnt johns fall out big time with page

  • there rite the first alblum by far was the best, when i first heard it i was hooked, gonzo bonzo was the best drummer, the whole lineup was magic

  • I mean cmon... Bonzo is legend drummer, John Paul Jones is just .. ah epic, Robert Plants voice is unequalized, And Jimmy Page is just .. wow the best!

    Hail the mighty Zep!

  • A documentary about a band that doesn't feature any music by that band. How shit is that?

  • Jim McCarty - another sad nobody who, in only in their mind - are equals of Led Zep

  • is it me or does Richard Cole look like Billy Joel?

  • @geedee81851 My thought exactly!! :D It's uncanny :P

  • What an asshole John Entwistle was! He made the assumption that two seasoned session musicians who formed a new band would just bomb right out of the gate?! Arrogant idiot. Ironic that he said it about a band that went on to become the greatest band of all time!

  • @dokokai Maybe his comment was just an example of dry humour among musicians. Nobody can be sure about his intention. Those days all rock musicians were friends, more or less.

  • The "witnesses" (the American ones, anyway) are beyond pathetic. Why doesn't every single one of them come out & say: "my parents forbid me listening 2 'nigger music' so this was all completely new to me" and just be done with it? These mediocres "invent" heavy metal by purchasing Marshall amplifiers and a genre is born? Two albums (II & IV) and these suckers were done! At least Jeff Beck Group had soul (hence Stevie Wonder's use of JB as a session player) Couldn't somebody please kill me now!?

  • @dantean Physical Graffiti was good too but I agree with your statement. I love Led Zeppelin but they did not really "Invent" anything. 2 and 4 and Physical were great albums that I still listen to. The others are OK but not really all that inspired. That's just my opinion. I still love the band though.

  • When Gods Walked the Earth...

  • Good times Bad times!

  • Richard COLE looks identical to Billy JOEL before they both lost their hair. Don't belive me? Go to minute 2:07 on pt2 ....

  • @outriderV thats true man!!

  • Led Zeppelin is hard to explain, everything good you say isn't enough.

  • Gotta love zeppelin

  • RIP Bonzo

  • Richard Cole should get in right , the idiom of langauge he is referring to is " go down like a lead balloon" (USA Led) ie Entwhistle probably used that phrase to veto a name suggestion from someone else. What followed was probably zeppelin was substituted for ballon, as a zepplin is a gas filled balloon.

  • EVERYONE!!!..... THEY DID GO DOWN LIKE A LED ZEPPELIN

    AND THEY ROCKED!!!!!!!

  • This just seems like a second hand crap version of the Led Zeppelin story....any comments on a good doc about LZ?

  • i love the vanilla fudge guy "They wanted us to take them on tour as our opening act, which is pretty ridiculous when I think about it now" hahahahahahaha He fucking knows

  • I wish they could have used Zeppelin music on this documentary.

  • LO QUIERO SUBTITULADO AL ESPAÑOL PLZ

  • whats the song at 4:14 ?

  • The part where Jonesy talked about them playing Train Kept A-Rollin' lol so funny.

  • my dads friend was in john bonhams band before led zep lol

  • @greyreview HAAAAA YEA RIGHT...he was in terry and the spiders?

  • thank god terry reid said "hold that tought" instead of yes!!!!

  • can you imagine zeppelin without plant?! woah if reid did it that would be so different

  • This clip right here should prove to all the oversensitive Zeppelin fans out there, that Led Zeppelin was NEVER "The New Yardbirds".

That whole misconception started from a magazine article, in which the author referred to Page's new band as being the "new" Yardbirds.

    It's shown here at about 1:04 .

AND - Jimmy never got the rights to the name...ever, in any sort of fashion,

    That's been known for awhile.

  • @asmorgan88 @ 4:50 John Paul Jones admits they toured for 3 weeks as " the new yardbirds "..........

  • @budgood099

Again, they were never billed as, nor did they ever perform under that name.

They (Zeppelin) played maybe 12 or 13 shows obligated to the name "The Yardbirds".

They were billed as : The Yardbirds, Yardbirds, Yardbirds & Jimmy Page, and in one case, The Yardbirds feat. Jimmy Page.

Fans, historians, authors, magazine journalists, & many others did indeed refer to them as The New Yardbirds...but, it was never official, as it was never their name, nor did they play under the name.

  • @asmorgan88 You don't know jack shit about zeppelin so shut your fucking mouth! Watch the video again and listen carefully dumbass.

  • @budgood099

    Calm down there, Chief.

They (Led Zeppelin) played a dozen or so shows as THE YARDBIRDS.

They were never billed as, nor did they ever perform under the name, THE NEW YARDBIRDS.

The whole misconception stems from a magazine article in which the author refers to Page's new band as the "new" Yardbirds...much like how The Style Council could've been called the "new" Jam.

They even show the article on some video on here...

This clip is from like 15 years ago.

    New light has been shed.

  • @budgood099

Contrary to accepted "facts", Led Zeppelin was never the "New Yardbirds", nor did Jimmy Page ever have contractual rights to the band's name or music.

Chris Dreja has said so, Jane Relf, Jim McCarty, Peter Grant...the only person who said they had the rights to anything "Yardbirds" was Jimmy Page, while the former members of the band claim that to be "absolute bollocks", and "quite opposite in fact".

This may be news to you, as this has all surfaced in recent years...

  • @budgood099

This is how it went :

Some of The Yardbirds quit the band right before they had a small Scandinavian tour booked. Chris Dreja & Jimmy Page auditioned for members for this tour...then, Dreja backed out & Jimmy Page (and company) toured as "The Yardbirds".

After the tour, a cease & desist letter from Dreja prompted Page to stop use of the name "The Yardbirds". They then became known as Led Zeppelin.

  • Richard Cole looks like Billy Joel

  • Nice to see Bonzo verbally abusing the Beatles. nice

  • 0:45.. thats danish on the wall! xD

  • Great vid!

    LZ 4EVER!

  • Jonsey never got the credit he deserved--I hope the futures different...But there's not much he can do-----Bonzo and Plant were the best at what they did..

Plant along with Iommi had the greatest riffs..

JPJ just gets left out in the pantheon of "greatest" --- but, never-the-less he was a genius..

  • I meant Page and Iommi

  • Thier is a great Youtube clip of the Making of Who's Next where Townshend talks about the fact that Jones had created a new bass picking style as a session guy pre Zep that was "totally Clean "etc. Much respect to Jones !

  • Yes---Much respect--I'm not denying that---But is it the same as Page, Plant and Bonzo? Those guys are the names that pop up when we mention Led Zep...Agreeably Page, being the producer, got more attention than the others...

  • I totally agree! Sure wish Robert would get his act together and come tour!

  • @wjv4me

    I know--He's fucking around with Allison K

don't get it--I mean she's good--But wouldn't you rather jam with your buddies Page and Jonesy---

    Plant---god he had a great voice---brain, not so much..lol

  • @glakshmiratan totally agreed he's a nasty bass player, ever listen to the lemong song? it's insane

  • @CJbass420

Of course--But No Quarter is JPJ's baby

--That's what Ill always associate him with

  • RIP MOON AND ENTWISTLE !!!!

  • @muttilo It quite surprising--The Who really has lost its fan base..It seems like they vaporized..All this hip hop, rap nonsense, shit I don't understand is making people deaf to the good stuff

  • Well i have to disagree with you here but I will send you a message to explain , This is a Led Zepplin thread and I don't want to sidetrack the thread here out of Respect to the Zepplin boys

  • ponerlo en español cabrones

  • JPJ laughs like my brother.

  • stairway to heavens all lies and bullshit, jimmy page said richard cole lied about the whole thing. he even said that he exaggerated b/c he was a fuckin drug addict and needed money

  • Richard Cole wrote the best Zeppelin biography out there... its called Stairway to Heaven.... the story of Led Zeppelin. If your looking for a good read get that. Its a Zeppelin Bio written by their tour manager... you can only imagine the stories he has from being on the road with them for ten years

  • Better than Hammer of the Gods? I'd be surprised.

  • lori mattrix !! Oh ya fucker .If you watch the song remains the same -since ive been lovin you- she is in the front in the crowd and the look on her face is amazing

  • i remember that chick but i wasn't sure it was lori. didn't really look like her

  • Not that chickk with all the blue make-up on her eyes right? And not the shot of the crowd just before the dumbfounded cop right? remember she was like 13 then, but tell me where to look, I've been watching it for 30 years

  • BE KIND TO PEOPLE AROUND YOU

  • richard cole looks not bad considering what he's been through as well

  • this is great - thanks for posting it

  • what is the song of 1:50

  • no doubt some generic incidental music written...no relation to Led Zep

  • This is just "Straight Up Awesome". I have this Zep A-Z on DVD, and I have never watched it. This is the best documentary on Zep I have seen! Great Post

  • is it just me or does Chris Welch look like an old lesbian

  • @stillwaterseven hahaha.....he looks like a girly man.

  • @stillwaterseven

Yup. Also at 8:21, Carmine isn't just the president, he's a client of the Hair Club for Men!

  • @stillwaterseven probably due to the make up and his hairstyle.

  • @stillwaterseven Damn, I just saw that face and immediately new you were talking about. Lol.

  • @stillwaterseven Dude you were sooooooooooo right he does look like an old lesbian

  • @stillwaterseven lol, i realize this is an old comment but I was thinking the exact same thing when his face flashed on the screen. I was certain that I was looking at an old bull dyke before he started speaking. There's actually an entire website devoted exclusively to this topic. It's called "men who look like old lesbians dot com" (one word, of course)

  • I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall that first time they ever played together, what a historical moment that was,...RIP Bonzo

  • @stillwaterseven Haha, a fly on the wall. And I would've been the white plaster on the wall absorbing all the incredible sound and music.

  • First. Zeppelin Rules.
