This vid was shot in 1987/88 in Saalbach/Aut. Iman was one of the skiers in the background. InI will never forget to have worked with John, as he was one of the most professional guys Iman have ever met. After the 2 days shot we were invited to a skirestaurant where he played a whole set just for our crew and most amazing to InI, he invited Iman to play some of his songs with him. This will stay in InI heart forever. Thanks so much for that post as it brings back sweet memories. Jah Bless
THIS IS FROM ONE OF JOHNS CHRISTMAS SPECIALS HE DID WITH JULIE ANDREWS I HAVE THE COMPLETE CHRISTMAS SHOW ON VIDEO AND YES THIS VIDEO OF JOHN SINGING AND SKING IS IN IT,,,
This is a wonderful video of John doing one of the activities he really loved. It is so good to see him out there having fun and singing a wonderful song. He is truly missed!
He sure loved life. We can all learn from that. I just took up skiing and love to watch my favorite entertainer having a great time on skis too. What fun!
Well this is the first time I have ever seen John Denver ski. Hum! I asked him if he'd go skiing with me in a letter I wrote to him when I was about 14 years old, nearly 30 years ago. Maybe, this song had something to do with my letter? Hum? Guess I never know? But happy just the same. Very cool video!!!! Pat Riley- Singer Songwriter
Great video and yet again another great song! I don't think that there isn't a song that he does that doesn't express some kind of human emotion and he's got one for every kind there is! This is just such a happy song that makes you want to get up and move with it! Thanks for posting it!!!!
Eureka!!! Happy this all worked out! He was such a good-natured person; I love the "face-full-of-snow" at the end. Think we'll all miss his talent, showmanship and bravado a lot. Thank you!!
John Denver is never gone, to me, his life and energy is everpresent and in everything he did. I am transfixed by the video, and I think this is the closest I have ever come to falling in love with someone I never met and will never know.
I'm so glad to hear from you! Thank you for your comments. I suspect we're both at the end of a very long line of "Denver" fans! Back before the flood, there was a poem we read in school, "To an Athlete Dying Young," by A.E. Housman. May be off on the spelling, even the author, but it might have been written for Mr. Denver. Thanks again.
I have had mixed reaction to sharing this video, but for some reason I simply find that nothng that John Denver ever did ever strikes me as "off". His soul is always there when he sings, as though he just cant do anything less than spectacular. I shared his love of the Calypso and Cousteau. Gracious thanks to you, as well!
@smartalexpat I feel the same way, that it's the closest to falling in love with someone I never met! I wonder how many people out there feel that way?
I loved the Julie Andrews special he did with her, 1988, on DVD..he walted with her too, in tails!! When I saw this it reminded me that he went heliskiing in British Columbia with TC and his friends. Perfect face plant the firs day, did 70 PERFECT turns his last run on the last day..that was JD!!!The guy who owned the resort named a run after him on the first day called "Take TWO" because JD told him that's what they called it when you flubbled the first time in the music business.
Thanks for posting! This song was performed for a Julie Andrews Christmas Special, and I don't think it was ever intended for a John Denver album. It was simply a seasonal song for Christmas - just for enjoyment. Thanks again!
I love this video. Fun to listen to, fun to watch. I totally disagree with anyone who says he should stick to . . whatever it is they think he should stick to. He was a musician, and he lived to make music. All kinds of music. Most good musicians with long careers try different styles now and then. It's a different way to be fearless, and he was nothing if not fearless.
Thank you! John was a fine musician and knew what his public would enjoy! Somewhere there's a lovely album of John and Placido Domingo as a duo! It's delightful. Thank you for your very kind comment.
JD has some great music, but to me this song was a pathetic attempt by him to try to fit into the disco era that was pushing him off the charts in the late 70s when this song came out..his voice sounds a bit desperate as he tries to hit the highs (and misses many times)..he would have been better sticking to what he really was..music goes in cycles and eventually attention would come back to him just as it did to Bruce Springsteen and Madonna after the 90s country wave pushed them out..
Yes, a real good one with that touch of humor throughout! Must have been difficult to film! All those skiers flying through the air, dangerous stuff!!! Johnny looked great:)
absolutely love this! It was one of my favorite songs that he did. I have this concert special on video and I watch it every Christmas..but thank you for posting it! it's great!
The quality of this video is much better than those I've seen before. Did you do anything to clean it up? Thanks for posting. It's one of my favorites...it's so upbeat and obvious how much John loved to ski!
This is a beautiful video. I am finally starting to discover the beautiful voice of John Denver. If he were not a 'dare devil' he might still be with us.
Have been watching this for four days in a row. Will continue for the next 7 days.

John never ceases to amaze me! Is there anything that this man did not do? Makes me want to get out of my chair and do something...
No, seriously, a gifted artist and a wonderful person all around. Wish I had known him.

I too love John Denver and am so thankful to have these videos and his music so he never leaves us.
Motorcycles, skiing, flying, scuba diving, he did it all to the fullest, and loved life.
I wish I had half his enthusiasm, not to mention talent.
