You're probably right, but my theory is that he got overconfident. I think he really did kill two people, and because he got away with it he felt almost invincible. How could anybody take him down? He's his own boss. He went to get back what was "his", and he wasn't going to let anybody stop him.
Then again, maybe it is stupidity that keeps us from knowing our own vulnerability.

Sadly because he needs anger mangement. Only O.J. will do 5 years at (or a maximum of 9 years) at best.
It it wasn't for the weapon and the "hint" of premeditation, I believe he would of gotten a lesser charge
