Is this Pete singing? Just bought the CD but haven't listened yet. I love how Roger thanks John & Keith in the CD notes...always gracious. Roger is out on tour with Tommy this fall. I hope his wonderful voice holds out by the time we see him in Portland in Oct.
entwistle was da man ! his modesty and humility should be a warning and inspiration for ALL artists. and rog was underrated and shadowed unjustly by petes solo albums : rogers solo albums are some of the best rock music ever made ( like UNDER A RAGING MOON) i never quite grabbed pete´s " philosophy " ...it says all and nothing , there is never a real point of view, he evades real issues by hiding in shades, mind games, hazy symbols.whatever - he is a fab composer
ps,its a shame rogers got to wait for townsends deression@booze to lift to make a bloody oo album, rogers done it on his own many times roger oo go ahead..staysafe bee luckeey
wata boring miserable album iv got 15 who albums and i still dont get it,why cant they do a simple rock album instead taking us ona silly unknown journey, imean ok ucan do musicals now@then but alldat sillytime wasted on stoopid concept albumsi dont bloody get, even derelict white city wat the bloodyhells going on goodness me is dat art or fart?im sure etes a freemason theres a connection there folks, but after bout 15 albums 7years i dont get it maybe im dumb?
@amr7037 the production values are less than one would expect. Is Entwistle gone, too? there seems to be a big hole where Entwistle used to be. It is really noticeable. But mainly, seem to be lacking the full bodied sound. Maybe they just don't give a shit. Sounds like it was recorded quickly , on the fly. Sounds like it was recorded US instead of UK. Low octave is thin / unfocused.
I remember when I bought this album I was like it's alright... I listened to it a couple more times and crap it kicks in how good it is! Then I saw them live doing it Damn it kicks ass! Townshend worked majic! And Roger awesome!
this is better than todays groups he doesent shout and scream i went to go see them at newcastle and they blew me away there still the best group in the world ENDLESS WIRE
This is an absolutly amazing song. The Who have always sounded awesome! They are still my favorite band and possibly the greatest rock band in the world if not already the greatest band ever. Pete is my favorite and I think his voice is amazingly good and I love to hear it. I do love it when Roger comes in though. Very catchy! Pete Townshend is an amazing writer and I hope they continue to tour and record. Any song they come out with is a smashing hit. I LOVE THE WHO!!!
Ray High (from Psychoderelict. The ether man in this song) basically shows the band his new idea concerning music (Presume it's a reference to Lifehouse). Ray High features throughout wire and glass...
Concerning the way Pete sings:
It's very Dylanesque in my mind. Maybe because of the huge influence Dylan was having on...just about everyone during the 60's

The old fogy singing is Pete. Roger only sings the bridge. That said, you're right. In fact, this whole album is just old fogy. Half the band died before they got old. Obviously, Roger & Pete carrying on like this is not what we were hoping for. At one time, the band was called the High Numbers. Now, a more appropriate name would be the Low Numbers or, perhaps, Odd & Sod.
townshend and daltry might not sound at they're peak but i'd rather here something new put out by them than most of what i hear on the radio nowadays, songwriters don't seem to be what they used to be.
Well, now that I've gone back and listened to the entire album, I realize that they're still quite good. My two favorites off of this album are We Got a Hit and Trilby's Piano.

Pete Townsend is rock and roll's poet laureate. Roger Daltrey is the best interpreter of his music.

Yet again, they come up with something so original. Great song. Feel like singing along!

Endless Wire is a decent album. Though w/o Entwistle, it seems more of a Townshend solo album with Daltrey singing on it. But whatever.....

@sgk1967 It is supposed to be Pete singing about the Who. At least in my opinion.

Why is everything in code with these concept albums. It takes ages and ages to figure out what they're on about.

they could call the next album "who's left".
seriously though i liked the album.

There are some folkier songs, but I wouldn't say they've lost their touch. Mike Post Theme and Black Widow's Eyes are testament to that.

Fabulous. The chorus is just beautiful. I've never heard The Who like this but if this is Who evolution I think I like it.

I saw the Who in Boston twice in 2006, and thus heard the new material. Both shows were amazing!
