Ronnie's guitar was sounding very well, Keith was very good too at these sad days, he was very strong to face the death of his son and in the same way travel in a tour. Love Keith.
I read somewhere that Keith found out that his son died before this show & numbed by junk & emotion told no one. & played incredibly well & loud. also I always thought Billy Preston did alot of the backup vocals during this era
Hi, I'm desperately looking for a very rare version of this song probably recorded in 1975 (American Tour) with a FANTASTIC Ronnie's solo... Got it on an old bootleg vinyl called "The Rolling Stones Live 1971-1975" with no further precisions... If someone's got it and knows how to upload it, then thanx for sharing it on YT !
@fondofrory You're a bastard !... ;-)) Sure I too prefer Mick Taylor's soli... But I'm sure of what i say... On the version I mentioned, Ronnie surpassed himself and produced one of the best guitar soli ever !... Not very long, but really heavenly notes !... This incredible solo made me love this song even more... Hope to find it here one day ! Or I should find someone who could help me to post this old vinyl version here !...
@fondofrory The Bootleg vinyl was simply called "The Rolling Stones Live 1971-1975" - found it in the late 70's in Amsterdam or London or Paris, don't remember...
Keith overdubbed his harmony in studio for the album. Most of this album was overdubbed as were most live albums. This is still the best version of Tumbling Dice highlighting Mick. His vocals drive the whole song. Everyone in the band follows his tempo. The Tumbling Dice live from 78 Highlights Keith. Just sayin
KEITH RICHARDS IS MUSIC...THE BEST!!!! FANTASTIC KEITH!

Mick sounds like he's talking in a different language. It's like he's singing like a baby. Too too, he got to roll me....

@Jouwl Keith Richards? A lot of people say things like that but I wish he sang lead vocals on more tracks.
