Just heard that this wonderful conductor died today, aged 51. I saw and heard him performing Beethoven's 7th at the Concertgebouw two years ago (the performance this video was made for) - it was nothing short of electrifying. His last concert was "Scheherazade", also at the Concertgebouw, which I was also fortunate enough to attend. Masterful is what describes him best. He will be sorely missed...
