Like you, the idea of Lucy & Desi's divorce was an unpleasant fact for me to accept. Read, "A Book" by Desi Arnaz which is his autobiography. I think that you'll find that he explains some of the problems they had, and you'll better understand why they divorced.
THANKS for posting this very interesting clip! Not only was Desi a gifted performer, but was the creative force behind Desilu productions. A very astute businessman! I've read that Lucy bought out Desi's share of their Desilu after their divorce for one million dollars. Of course, that's sounds like peanuts today, but in the early 60's that sum was worth a LOT more & provided Desi with the funds for a long and happy retirement.
I think the shows of today are dumb down based on the last 30 years America has become less intelligent from the schools that we attend from grade school to college and with the moral decay you see today the result bad TV, music, and movies. It seems it is all about the dollar and not about real talent or ability.

Desi was very talented... he could sing, dance and act. His timing was perfect as a foil to Lucy. He also was a great director, pioneering the 3-camera technique that's standard in sit coms today. Ever noticed how good "I Love Lucy" episodes look in comparison to things like "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet" or "Father Knows Best" (when you get to see 'em). He also ran a GIGANGIC studio that was bigger than Paramount. Best of all, he walked away to go play congas at the beach. Cool.
Desi was an amazing producer, he was very humble to let all the credit go to Lucy, he was an innovator and was the first one to establish a set with multiple cameras (unlike other shows such as "The Honeymooners" with one camera setting) During the run of the show the entire cast was awarded Emmys for their outstanding performances (several times) except Desi! why couldn't they recognize his talent? shame on them!
Also, I think that Desi never stopped loving Lucy, that kind of love never ends.

She's saying that in 1982!! I watched as a kid in the 90's and I STILL am everyday at 12:00pm on my13 here in LA. This show will forever live on. Once I graduate from college and start to save my money again I will buy all seasons and show them to my kids(when I have some). Everyone deserves to have a memory of watching I Love Lucy from a young age.
I loved I Love Lucy, and still do, the episodes always made me laugh and smile. I watch them with my family. Lucille, Desi, Vivan, and William. Around 1:48 ...it looked like he was going to cry.... :'(

Desi was very talented... he could sing, dance and act. His timing was perfect as a foil to Lucy. He also was a great director, pioneering the 3-camera technique that's standard in sit coms today. Ever noticed how good "I Love Lucy" episodes look in comparison to things like "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet" or "Father Knows Best" (when you get to see 'em). He also ran a GIGANGIC studio that was bigger than Paramount. Best of all, he walked away to go play congas at the beach. Cool.

Desi was an amazing producer, he was very humble to let all the credit go to Lucy, he was an innovator and was the first one to establish a set with multiple cameras (unlike other shows such as "The Honeymooners" with one camera setting) During the run of the show the entire cast was awarded Emmys for their outstanding performances (several times) except Desi! why couldn't they recognize his talent? shame on them!
Also, I think that Desi never stopped loving Lucy, that kind of love never ends.

it still airs almost every day here in california on fox. im actually watching it right now on a sunday night. the humor still holds up to this day, 60 years later. kinda weird though, it usually doesnt air on sundays

She's saying that in 1982!! I watched as a kid in the 90's and I STILL am everyday at 12:00pm on my13 here in LA. This show will forever live on. Once I graduate from college and start to save my money again I will buy all seasons and show them to my kids(when I have some). Everyone deserves to have a memory of watching I Love Lucy from a young age.

I loved I Love Lucy, and still do, the episodes always made me laugh and smile. I watch them with my family. Lucille, Desi, Vivan, and William. Around 1:48 ...it looked like he was going to cry.... :'(
