@daw162 Johnny comes to play at the booths where he has friends and with companies who's equipment he likes. Of course it's great to have someone this good in your booth!
I like Johnny he is a friend. But if there was no Brent? There would be no Hiland. There are a million just like him in Nashville. He is blind. That makes him stand out. I like Johnny's feel, but there are many.
@SuperGuitarman69 OK Right. So that's why legions of people track him down at NAMM just to hear him play and his videos are viewed tens of thousands of times with great comments and all that. Most of them probably don't even realize he's blind. Sure, there are lots of shredders everywhere... but Johnny brings something to the music that many others don't. Plus, he's a super-nice human being.
@karlwinkler66 Not saying that. I know the guy. I love him to death. I am just saying there are a lot more. That's whats horrible about Nashville. The musicians in this town are the lowest ones on the totum pole. Well musicians and engineers. Don't believe me? Come visit. Go to the musicians hall of fame. (if you can find it). I am merely pointing out that there are incredible players here. Ones that should be famous that are not. It is sad really. I am happy for John. Just others got shafted
@sgrouge You should have seen him this year. I think he just gets better every time I see him. Check out some of the videos from this year's NAMM show - I know people have posted a few already.
Damn nice playing - just effortless.... Somehow I liked his tone a little better on a Tele before he started endorsing PRS. But anyway, what an awesome player.
Johnny don't have to take a back seat to any guitar player. He may not be he best in the world, but the best have him on speed dial. He can stand and play with anybody and not be shut down.
Johnny Hiland is a MOFO!!! I seen him jam with Vai once, and he gave Vai a run for his money. Of course, it's an apples to oranges proposition, but Johnny Hiland freakin' shreds in his own way. Dude is legally blind too.
gotta feel sorry for peeps that miss the positivity of jh

I'll bet there are tons of booths at namm that are screaming to get johnny to show up and make their equipment sound better than it is.
