Personally, I like the new one. I mean, Englund's Krueger was sort of scary but after the first movie he and the entire series became way to campy and ridiculous. Haley's Krueger was way scarier. Also, some of you are saying that molesting a kid's worse than killing them. It's not! Plus the molestation background's much more believable. I mean it was pretty obvious old Freddy wasn't just killing for the hell of it. I've always been a fan, and since day one, I'd assumed he'd raped them first.
I think I have a little info that'll help end the debate. Heather Langekamp didn't like the remake, nor did Wes or Robert. Heck, even the actress who played Nanct in the remake hated it. She only did to make a name for herself.
@SteveIriwinFan96 Heather, Wes, or Robert not liking the remake is not a shocker. Wes was upset at the very idea, Heather was against it from the start cause someone ELSE would be playing Nancy, and most people dont like to bring up there start in horror movies. Kevin Bacon, Patricia Arquette, Lawerence Fishburne, and on and on. I have never seen Robert say he did not like it. Not saying I dont believe you though. If you could point me to where that is I would appreciate it
@26michaeluk Well, NancyThompsonofElmStreet here on YouTube told me about it. Go to her account and discuss that with her. She'll give some suprising information.
@SteveIriwinFan96 I was not saying it wasnt true. But I had never ever heard that. And me and Nancy pretty much dislike each other and are bad terms so I cant do that and just because she said that does not mean its true. Il do some research and get back with you. If I find out its true I will come straight to you and tell you I was wrong.
@SteveIriwinFan96 She is a MOD on the Nightmare website. I got tired of the remake being bashed and not being aloud to be critcal of anything about the original series. I posted a thread asking everyone name at least 1 thing the liked about JEH portrayal of Freddy and no negative comments cause I was tired of seeing it bashed. Nancy sent me a private email telling me not to post anything like that anymore. It made me furious. I tried telling the forum but by that time she ...
@SteveIriwinFan96 ... blocked me and then would not give me even the slightest reason for over a year. Listen to what she finally told me. 1st- She said "I was creating topics to see if people agreed or disagreed.with my post." . Yes she really said that. Thats the whole fucking point of a message board right? 2nd- My posts were becoming repetitive. Yep she said that to. Its a NOES website, of course we are repetitive. Thats what the sight is for is to discuss NOES. Can you ...
@SteveIriwinFan96 ... believe that? 3rd- That was I was combative after she sent me that message. I had a right to be. Now anyone who liked the remake has left because of her and the other MODS shit. I tried to get an explantion from her everyday. for a year and finally she comes back with that bullshit. Oh and that she was wrong for doing that for the pm. Im banned for life for trying to get an explantation. I still have the message saved. So thats why.
@SteveIriwinFan96 ... She lies so believe what you want to believe. Ask her about it and see. Sorry for how long it is. Read my posts and let me know what you think.
@26michaeluk Well, thanks for that. While I'm a not a big fan of the remake, I'll take it over Hellraiser Revealations or TCM: The Next Generation. As far as I'm considered, those don't even belong in the series.
@SteveIriwinFan96 I understand that a lot of people did not like the remake. But I also understand the minute it was announced Robert was not playing Freddy that most at that moment decided the movie would suck and never gave themselves a chance to like it. I liked it cause it was a least serious. I think the sequels did a great disservice to the character of Freddy by making him funny. Too funny. Anyways, would love to here your opinion and why you did not like it. thanks
@26michaeluk I see your comments on alot of these videos! xD You seem to have know alot about NOES. Anyways, I know that many people would perfer the old Freddy over the new one. Personaly, I'd perfer both as 2 different Freddys. Jackie's Freddy is much more realistic and serriuos. But I loved Englund's Freddy in the early sequels before he became comedic. People these days use the excuse: I grew up with the old Freddy. Well, I didn't because I'm only 15. I still like the old Freddy more though
@SURROUNDEDBYCOMMENTS Yeah it probably looks like I am being a dick on the other postings. For some reason I am really into the remake debate and I just try to find out why people didnt like this one. I grew up with Freddy and loved Robert but I was ready for a change. The sequels were horrible. It was time for someone else to become Freddy and JEH was perfect. I feel the same way and look at them as two different Freddys. I am glad to here someone thinks the same way....
@SURROUNDEDBYCOMMENTS .... as I do. They are just two different versions of the same monster. I just find a lot of the times that people have really petty reasons as to why they dont like it. I think most never gave if a fare shot cause it wasnt Robert. Also I dont understand why people arent happy that new movies of ANOES are coming out. They should be excited for any ANOES movie. Its a win win situation. Ur right, nothing is better than original movie Freddy.
@26michaeluk You and I aren't really different, I must say it's pretty rare to find a person who grew up loving old Freddy and likes Jackie at the same time. You waren't being a dick, you were just showing that the Remake Freddy deserves some credit. I feel the exact same way towards the Friday The 13th Remake. I think Jason was much more realistic and much more interestingthan the sequels where he takes manhattan and goes to hell and in the future! I just think Derrick Mears is a perfect Jason
@SURROUNDEDBYCOMMENTS Hey your comments are not on this page but they were in my inbox, weird. I totally agree. Its VERY rare to find people who loved both. I like it more for the character and concept than anything. I dont think Freddy should be locked away to never have any other movies made. I am not the biggest fan of Jason but the remake, to me, was the best by far. I loved the fact Jason actually ran. I have only seen all the Friday movies just one time. I never
@SURROUNDEDBYCOMMENTS .... got into it. They played it off brilliantly showing his mom dying, showing him with the sack on his head, and then finds the mask. They did it perfectly in line with the originals. I have never seen any of the Halloween movies. Are any of them good and if so which ones?
@26michaeluk Sorry for the late reply, anyway, I haven't watched any of the Halloween movies because I'm not really into horror. I'm into 80's style in general. Which includes music, movies, tv shows... and pretty much the way of living. And as a 15 year old, I haven't seen anyone my age who's interested in the 80's. Anyways, back to Freddy. I've also realized that he didn't talk much in the first movie, which made him even scarier in my opinion.
@SURROUNDEDBYCOMMENTS I am not really into horror either. Thats why I dont know hardly anything about Halloween and Friday the 13th. I just love the concept of Nightmare movies. Being killed in dreams is scary. Everyone has to dream. If anyone else could let me know about the Halloween series and Friday series please let me know
@26michaeluk I've done a little research and found out that there are 10 Halloween films since 1978 until 2009. According to IMDb, the 1978 movie got a 7,9/10 which is the highest of them all. A Remake of Halloween was released in 2007 as the same title of the 1978 film. And that's the one I'll be watching, even though the original Halloween got a slightly higher rating. The 2009 film (Halloween II) is a sequel to the 2007 Remake.
@SURROUNDEDBYCOMMENTS Thanks man, you didnt have to do all that lol. Seriously I appreciate it. I was curious cause people said Michael Myers started the slasher movies that led to Jason and Freddy
@26michaeluk lol No problem! It was nothing really. I've always wanted to get into Halloween myself. Anyways, I just watched the 2007 Remake and I loved it so much! But mny people say the original was better as usual I don't know. I'll watch the sequal of the Remake (2009) now which was written and directed by Rob Zombie the same guy who directed and wrote the 2007 Remake.
@SURROUNDEDBYCOMMENTS Awesome. You liking it makes me think I will since we have similar views on the subject. Yes please let me know what the sequel to the remake is like. Dont get into particulars though cause I plan on watching myself but am waiting to see if you watch the original and to see your thoughts on it. Seriously thanks again bro for looking that stuff up, that was very cool of you
@26michaeluk You're welcome. I just watched the 2009 sequel. I liked it, but I liked the 2007 more. Although I like the fact that in the sequel Michael Myers wore a long hobo coat and has facial hair, makes his condition very realistic. That's all I can say, I don't wanna ruin anything for you. I guess it's time for me to watch the original, I'm super excited. Anyway, a few days ago I watched the Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2003 Remake. I barely know the series and I don't think I'll get into it.
@26michaeluk I do agree it was good that they made it darker. I'll admit, they just made it plain silly as the seires progressed. Freddy vs. Jason was serious. It had some funny moments, but over all serious. I guess the one thing worse then it is Hellraiser Revelations.
The Old Freddy is better than the New Freddy I think that Robert Englund gives to the character the real sense of humor, in the movies of the 80's there was realism, good sense of humor of Freddy and talent, in the new movie Jackie Earle Haley looks too grim and he stained the the look and the real sense of humor of the old one
@Touring9 The sense of humor ruined the character in the sequels. The original had Freddy scary in a demented way. In the others it was funny. He was never meant to be funny. JEH played a different kind of Freddy which is what they were going for. As far as realism goes, the new one he looked really burnt, the original series he was a cheese pizza. No one can top Freddy of the original movie but JEH tops the Freddy of the sequels in my opinion.
@26michaeluk There was always some humor though, even in the first film. You need that a little bit otherwise the audience will end up laughing at the film rather than with it.
I honestly haven't seen the remake yet, but it makes sense that it could be better than the sequels. On the other hand though I do think writing in Hollywood isn't what it used to be.
@26michaeluk Yes exactly, I mean that's the way it always is. The first one hits the perfect note and then the sequels throw away all signs of subtlety, lol.
@26michaeluk Thanks, you too! Yeah you have to search a bit on YT to find good debates sometimes, lol. Anyway, I'd be willing to see the remake, you should definitely give things a chance before judging. It's just that nowadays fans always seem to have to put in the extra effort to make sure the originals aren't forgotten for the crime of being old. I guess there has to be some sort of balance here, lol.
@NeverDoubt1 Yeah you very rarely find someone with a lot of knowledge about the stuff on here. I get what your saying about the balance thing. Actually true. I would love if you ever seen the remake to tell me your thoughts on it then, no matter good or bad. My anticipation for the Nightmare remake was crazy. I was looking on YT at some of the sequels and I saw a trailer titles Nightmare 2010 so I watched it and my first thought was oh god, Robert isnt playing Freddy. After I>
@NeverDoubt1 > sat there for a minute an watched the trailor like 100 more times I finally said I am going to have a positive outlook till I see it. When the second trailer came out it was awesome and I literally spent a year of my life on the net looking for any news about the remake. U know what else this remake did for me? It got me back into nightmare on elm street, which I hadnt been for like 10 years and now I obsessed again, obviously. Sorry bout calling you a bro
@26michaeluk Yeah totally that's the one thing I definitely can appreciate about remakes, they can potentially create excitement for the originals again. And as I believe Robert Englund said one time, at least it's giving people work, hehe.
@NeverDoubt1 Well I'll have to wait before I can see the remake but I can comment on parts I've seen. I actually like the concept behind the pre school kids not remembering, that was effectively creepy and interesting and I can see it having a lot of potential. Freddy himself I'm a little underwhelmed by. His voice sounds like a standard human villain and doesn't really stand out to me. And his makeup makes him look like a dinosaur or alien or something.
@26michaeluk Actually I did have a question for you. I know in the original films, the initial intent was for Freddy to be a pedophile but they backed off of that because of scandals during the '80s. What do you think about them bringing back the pedophile idea for the remake?
@NeverDoubt1 Yeah originally we was portrayed as both child murderer/molester. Even though the molester was officially dropped, it was always insinuated. My thoughts about him being strictly a pedo is both positive and negative. The good was that he had a direct connection to the victims. I thought this aspect made more sense. Now the bad is that this has soured a lot of peoples view of the remake. The first thing is what was the purpose of the glove? It kinda shows he used it to
@NeverDoubt1 .. cut the kids but that was just stupid. Now for me I look at it like he was making the glove because he was ready to begin killing them. I like to think that in burning to death, it brought out the real monster and murderer. Plus a sequel can quickly go back and say he killed kids and I would expect that to happen. Personally it made me hate Freddy more which is how I like it. I dont think he was supposed to be rooted for. There is no way you can after finding out
Plus with the remake, if they wanted a movie about beating a molestor, that's fine. But then don't have the guy making jokes (wet dream, etc), why would I want to laugh with him at that point? I'd just want him arrested (yes I know he's dead already lol). This story was already done about 80 years ago with the movie "M" and did a great job of making you hate the guy but also pity him. The remake doesn't know what it wants to do. Good idea, confused execution for me.
@NeverDoubt1 I respect your opinion. But I dont get why a lot of people seem to condemn him for being a pedo but then act like killing children is not as bad. Its just as bad if not worse. Robert gets a pass cause he just kills the kids? Murder or molest children is on the same level to me.
It does make some sense when you think about it. Violence is something all around us, always been hard to ignore. And we have evolved to a point where we can make light of it in order to conquer it. But molestation is something we've really only recently begun to deal with as a culture (it's always existed but only recently acknowledged in the public eye). And the wounds are still so fresh in our minds that we don't accept humor or shocker entertainment coming from it.
@NeverDoubt1 You make a very good point with this comment. Murder and death is always something that is around us and has been whether on tv or the news for the longest time and molestation is really only now being discussed and has not been brought out into the limelight till only recently so I get that point as well. damnit lol
@NeverDoubt1 The wet dream line was from one of the sequels and she was in a big thing of blood. I never took that line the wrong way and for the most part people liked it. So you dont want to laugh with a pedo but you are cool laughing at a child murderer? See thats why it irks me so much. Actually JEH made me feel pity, anger, sickening, and scary all at the same time. I think that shows how talented an actor he really is
You mentioned earlier about people "rooting" for Freddy. It's not so much that. It's like something Captain Kirk said, "We can be against him and admire him all at the same time." The same has been true of characters in history. Villains are often the more complex and fascinating personalities. The good guys are bland, 1 dimensional and kinda stupid which is why they're always caught, lol. But villains are different. That's why Ahab is talked about more than Ishmael. (Con't)
@NeverDoubt1 You can apply your metaphor to other subjects as well such as US soldiers in the Vietnam War. Fighting against the Viet Cong. We were against them and hated them but we also admired the way they fought while being outgunned and having nowhere near the technology and firepower that US soldiers had. This comment had nothing to do with my argument. I just put what you said in similar context lol
But we don't admire a molester. When you think about it it's more of a realistic and close to home fear than the idea of an over the top child serial killer. I think that's why many people are not willing to use it as entertainment.
@NeverDoubt1 Your right. Villians are more complex and interesting than there bland counterparts. Great point. There is much more fear of a complex serial killer because that subject has been out there for so long and has been well discussed and thought about. Pedophiles on the other had are disgusting and bring up different emotions when thought or talked about. As you said that makes it to hard to not be bothered by it when confronted with it in movies and makes it almost
Yeah exactly, the crimes produce different reactions. Even in prisons, murderers beat up the molestors. Have you seen that movie I mentioned M? It's a German film from 1931 with Peter Lorre playing a child killer. The sexual angle is implied there through symbolism but honestly I didn't notice it until I listened to the commentary, lol. (Con't)
@NeverDoubt1 Your are right about the murderers beating up molesters, whoever, any crime against a child will get you beet up and murdering children is looked upon just as bad, if not worse than molesting children. No I have not seen the move M.
But it's a really good movie and one of the first talkies. In the end it's basically a debate about the death penalty. Lorre is captured by this mob and makes this speech about how it would be wrong to kill him because he has no control over his compulsions to murder. The points they bring up are surprisingly modern for an 80 year old movie! Kind of the original Krueger, lol.
@NeverDoubt1 I would really like to see that movie just for the reasons you have stated. I would not even know how go go about getting or watching it, any suggestions?
@26michaeluk Well you could type in "Peter Lorre M" on YT and go right to his monologue at the end, brilliant piece of acting! This is where the mob of criminals has captured the child killer and he's begging for his life. Like I said the movie's in German with subtitles.
@NeverDoubt1 subtitles dont bother me at all. I actually kind of like watching a movie like that. Weird right? Thank you and I will check it out. Did you get the PM about NEW NIGHTMARE I sent you?
@NeverDoubt1 ... impossible to stomach when seeing it, let alone accepting it as a form of entertainment. See you have make me think of this differently and it now makes sense why most people felt the way you did about it being out there in the movie. Now if they would have made him a serial killer as well it would be easier to get around the pedo aspect of the film. You have done your research that is for sure lol.
@NeverDoubt1 ... he was a pedo. It makes him sicker and darker. Plus it was only thrown if your face at the very end. You never see the pictures and are left to form your own conclusion as to what was on them. Also the last seen was very icky with Nancy being in that dress and the way he was talking to her. Now they can add the murderer and change it and I would be happy. What are your thoughts? I know it really threw a lot of people off
In the 1st film I feel like it's up for interpretation. I don't feel like I'm watching a guy attracted to kids. I think he's a more effective villain that way. People watch violence in films to enjoy being scared, to laugh at it and conquer it (Not talking about the sequels, just the original). But you can't enjoy watching a pedophile. We can't conquer that with slasher shocks or humor, it's insensitive, no matter what Family Guy thinks. That's why it was dropped. Con't...
@26michaeluk Sorry for the multiple posts, lol. Just to sum up, slasher films are basically our way of making light of our real life fears. I don't mean by one liners but just by treating it like scary entertainment. But you can't make light of a molester that way, you just can't. And if they had tried in the original, I almost guarantee it wouldn't be the classic it is today.
@NeverDoubt1 Again if you can make light for a child murderer then you should be able to make light of the pedo act. They are both one and the same type of crimes. The worst imaginable. Every single cast member or extra or what not all call him a child molester/killer in the Never Sleep Again documentary. Its always there in the originals, its just not thrown in your face. So it would certainly still be a classic cause thats how almost all people viewed him. I see your side though
@26michaeluk Just because the creators say it doesn't mean that's how he appeared to audiences of the first film, especially when there was an effort made to play it down. You can't always go by the creators. George Lucas think the prequels were great, but the fans know better, heh.
OK last thing, lol, I liked how Robert Englund put it at a convention once. Because they had to play that angle down in the 1st film, Freddy's crimes became more symbolic. He's killing children, which are innocence and the future. Making it more abstract does make it more thought provoking from a story point of view.
@NeverDoubt1 I believe Robert was referring to all the movies when he said that because in New Nightmare it is Wes Craven who says that Freddys evil stood for one thing, and that was the murder of innocence. I agree that making it abstract is more thought provoking from the story and audience point of view. I certainly see that
@NeverDoubt1 Ok now I see where you are coming from and I thank you for having the patience to explain it to me. While the aspect certainly was disgusting in the film, it did not have the effect it had on you and other people for me but now you have opened my eyes to look at it from your point of view and again I thank you and I love the points you made, damnit lol
No problem, thanks for putting up with my ramblings, lol. And I'll definitely meet you half way, I'm not saying the remake's idea was totally wrong. Standing on its own separate from the originals, it would be fine as a horror movie. Everyone can identify with childhood seeming all innocent and cute on the outside but actually being filled with fear and scary images on the inside (though thankfully most of us didn't go through what the kids in the movie did).
@NeverDoubt1 I had not seen these until I got your message. Its def not ramblings bro. Seriously you helped me see why people did not like it. Although as I said it didnt bother me, i can see why it did you and others. I agree on its own a lot more people would probly like it as well. Good point, we can all identify with childhood supposed to be innocent but filled with fear and scary images inside.
What's the point of a modernized remake if this new version lacks substance, a consistent script, good acting and especially, creepy moments? A friend of mine didn't watch the originals and yet, she found the movie ridiculously predictable and boring. I don't think Haley's a bad actor in anyway, but due to the pathetic screenplay, he created a Freddy that isn't even remotely interesting and is much more of a forgettable character than the demented sadistic killer that the fans are used to.
@MissDollStar Everything you just said can go towards the crappy sequels as well. For the love of god in Dream Master Freddy was brought back to life by flaming dog piss. If thats what you want and like, so be it. Many people were tired of it and needed something new. Freddy was only scary in the first 2. After that he became a joke. He was never supposed to be like that. Thats why I personally like the remake. I brought him back to what he was supposed to be
@26michaeluk Oh I won't defend sequels, hehe, obviously they're usually nowhere near the quality of the first film. Though I think Freddy always had a bit of humor even in the first film.
cont> For todays audience. Its greedy and selfish to want to deny them that. If you dont like it then fine. Horror fans are crazy about remakes which makes no sense. They dont affect the originals at all. They are introducing great characters to todays audience. A character as great as Freddy should not die with Robert. Yes he played him but Wes Craven created the character and then it was watered down. The remake is way better than most of the sequels.
@26michaeluk It's not true that remakes don't affect the originals. The remake DVDs end up being put out in front in the stores while the originals (which are usually better movies) get shoved to the back. And a lack of a remake does not mean a character as "died."
@NeverDoubt1 Thats petty bro. That does not affect the originals. Older movies are usually behind newer movies. It does not change what you think of the original and the original is still the same no matter where its put. Who cares if someone sees the remake first? The person will watch it and then maybe the originals and decide for them self. If new movies dont get made we are stuck with the original series. A character as awesome as Freddy needs to get introduces to the new >
@26michaeluk Freddy can be introduced to the new generations but you don't automatically need remakes to make that happen. Kids are certainly capable of enjoying older movies and often do in fact. I'm not sure why it's so terrible to be "stuck with" the originals. ;)
@NeverDoubt1 cont> generation. The remake is usually the way todays fans learn about the original series. The movies will look dated and not hold up well. It needed a fresh start. We already had plenty of crappy sequels. We needed something new to get the series going again
@26michaeluk That's your opinion that the older movies are dated and don't hold up. You're welcome to it but not every young person feels that way.
Now if a kid gets introduced to the original through a remake, that's great obviously. But I don't want to teach kids the lesson that new = good and old = bad.
@NeverDoubt1 Oh Im not stating my opinion as fact for the record. I feel a certain way and like debating people who see it a different way. I dont want to teach them that originals=good and remakes=back. They are def capable of liking originals. About the series, a lot of people are fine with it and happy with it. My problem is that they are only up for a new movie if Robert is playing Freddy. He has played him plenty and did everything he possibly could with the character but>
@NeverDoubt1 the last few sequels were horrible and made hardly any money. I dont want another dream child. The sequels left me very disapointed. The character and concept of Freddy needs new mythology and new audiences. Its a sin in my eyes to leave the character in the original series. The more time goes by it creates a gap between people who dont even know who or what Freddy is. We needed a modernzation of the story. I dont know why any Freddy fan would not want for there to>
@26michaeluk I get what you mean about revitalizing the series. Just that "modernization" is always kind of a red flag to me. It's not about whether a remake is modern, but whether it's written well, like the original first film. And for whatever reason remakes often disappoint in this area.
@NeverDoubt1 The original was awesome and my favorite horror movie. But that movie had quite a few flaws. The worst part is the ending that made no sense at all. My favorite scene which is Tinas death had the long arms that looked terrible even then. When Nancys mom is pulled through the window is obvious it was a dummy. There are more to. Some of the acting was horrible. To many things to list now. It also had flaws in the writing. But your statement that remakes often disappoint>
@NeverDoubt1 be new movies made. You cant bottle up a story like this one. It would be closing it off to people. It was either remake or nothing. It was a new freddy or nothing. Im sorry i dont want to be stuck with nothing.
@26michaeluk You don't have nothing. You have the original first film, which is the classic (leaving out the sequels for a minute). I personally don't understand why that's not enough for some fans. Not being rude, but I just never understood that mindset.
@NeverDoubt1 > in the writing area. The reasons I think that happens is cause first unreal expectations, going into it thinking it will suck, hate it just for being a remake are a lot of the problems. About the being enough for fans, it is enough if the original is all we have but any chance of getting a new nightmare movie should be celebrated. Take advantage of it. There doesnt have to be more movies, but I freaking love it if there is. A new freddy movie, fuck yeah I say
@26michaeluk Honestly, I know fans will have expectations, but beyond that I am concerned with the quality of Hollywood lately just in general. I don't see respect for the acting or writing craft the way there used to be. Maybe we disagree here and that's fine. :)
@NeverDoubt1 Oh trust me, I dont disagree with you at all about what was used to be called Hollywood. Its pathetic how far the movie industry has fallen. No good movies or scripts, just alot teeny bopper bullshit. Ive lost all faith for that. Other than the nightmare remake I havent seen hardly any new movies cause they usually suck. Its sad that movies made in the 70s and 80s is much superior to todays BS. I totally agree with you bro
@NeverDoubt1 I am really biased about the remake as well though cause I was just so happy a new freddy movie came out so I cant really dis it you see. lol
@26michaeluk Oh yeah I mean if remakes in general did deliver more in the writing department, I'd definitely warm up to them because the anticipation can be exciting.
Seriously? Most people never gave the remake a chance cause of Robert not playing Freddy. I am glad he didnt. It was a remake, not another stupid sequel. If you want Dream Child and Freddys Dead type of movie your nuts. The latter sequels destroyed the character. It was time for a change. It was time to re-introduce a scary and serious Freddy to the new generation. Robert played him enough. He passed the torch. Most kids today think the originals are tacky looking. The character was modernized>
Okay, I'm a huge fan of the original Nightmare on Elm Street. I've got every movie including New Nightmare and Freddy vs. Jason(even though I don't really consider FvJ as part of either series of movies). I will always love the original better. But to be fair the remake, while it wasn't nearly as awesome as the original, wasn't half bad. Granted Michael Bay's name was attached, but he was only a producer and not the director. On its own the remake is fairly decent, but "only on its own."
@gothtigger92 I know it's a really hard task, but you need to watch the remake without trying to compare it to the original (even if some of the scenes are taken straight out of the original). Watch it with an open mind, and if you can handle the thought of watching it a few more times it may start to grow on you. You never know until you give it a chance.
@gothtigger92 I concur. I too, have all the ANOES films (including the new one) and although it doesn't compar to the original AND Robert Englund will always be the best Freddy..The remake was okay for what it was..a remake. I give it like a B-.
According to Phelous from thatguywiththeglasses[dot]com the remake Freddy shouldn't even be called Freddy, he should be called Teddy, Freddy's younger, more dumber and lame ass brother.
@XxM00nSHADExX the glove came from his gardening tool that he had. The parents decided to burn him because they did not want their kids forced to tell a room full of people what happened. They rather end it there and make their kids forget.
the new freddy sucked, he sounded like christian bale as batman, they need to stop remaking the classic movies, and start coming up with new ideas, the remakes always turn out like crap
@Tipilodger I burst out laughing when I read "he sounded like christian bale as batman" because that's exactly what I thought when I saw the trailer for the remake (which I won't be watching)! The new Freddy doesn't even sound scary, and Robert Englund's makeup/acting seems much better as well. I'm definitely sticking with the original film.
@Tipilodger Oh quit. The remake was ten times better than the original. And you know what? Hollywood does come out with new ideas, and people like you bash them anyways.
@EdwardNygma1 lol. okay, that's your opinion. but a remake is not my definition of new ideas, it's my definition of making money as surely and as quickly as possible.
@RamsesTheStone The cash grab complaint, I love it. What the heck do you think all the sequels to the original are? Movies are made to make money. Why do purists not realize that? Freddys revenge is the prime example of cash grab. Its the name that sells. Its not about art 1st, it is about money. Thank god JEH took over and made the character serious again. Freddy was NEVER meant to be a dang comedian. Thats what almost destroyed Freddy, not the remake. Sorry
@NeverDoubt1 Bullshit. I recently saw The Adventures Of TinTin. Fantastic film. So much so that I went back to see it again a couple days later, and I rank it as the third greatest film of all time.
Love the old Freddy but who's doesn't? And I'm glad they made a remake. I wanted to see how someone else who played Freddy would do it. New Freddy is more realistic, serious and sinsiter. Which I enjoyed. Freddy has personality he's not an emotionless slasher like Jason or Micheal. That's why people are getting mad. Jason and Micheal get new actors all the time.
I like the Nightmare remake. They didn't try anything new, which was disappointing, but the new Freddie stole the whole movie. I liked how the makeup made him look more like a real burn victim.
Regarding to people who didn't get the comic'y approach after the first 2 originals I actually think its makes him creepier in that he's basically taking pure pleasure in fucking with you. The thing about freddys new look is that yeah he's a burnt victim I get it,but its not scary unless your a child opposed to the old freddy who looked like evil demon hell and would be scary to anyone.
The remake sucks ass! I'm always thinking like; What the fuck were they thinking making Freddy a child molester with a fabric made glove that makes no sense? Why does he have a glove? Why do the parents kill Krueger for molesting the children? Why don't the cops care? Why did they return the name of Jesse? Since when do you get put into an asylum for murder? Why's Freddy's voice not scary? Why's Freddy got too much on-screen time? Why's the story the way it is? Questions, but no answers...
@MyComicStyle Freddy was orginally going to be a child molster, and its adds an intresting twist.. What does it matter what the gloves made out of? Because it was in the orginal. Because they felt like they needed to take justice into their own hands. They probably did care, but may have been biased at the time once they learned the horrible thing he did (small town). Why not? When you do it with no motivation/ are crazy. It is, in my opinion. Because hes awesome. It was written that way. xD
The new actor, before he becomes the monster, he looks so kind and innocent. I don't want Freddy to look kind and innocent in the beginning. That's not who Freddy is. Freddy looked mean and evil before he got "killed". That's his character. He isn't like Michael Myers or Jason. They looked pretty innocent before they became the monsters that they are. But on them it WORKED. On Freddy, it doesn't really work. F13th remake and Halloween remake where the only ones that got it right.
old freddy is the best and new freddy ....well theres nothing to say he suxs. every 1 robert englund needs to be back. hollywood needs to stop remakin goood movies
I actually thought the New Nightmare on Elm Street was pretty badass. I love the new take they are using the story. I loved the original Nightmare of Elm Street and it shall forever hold a place in my soul, but seriously people. Give this one a chance.
yes, yes we know. but that doesn't change the fact that jackie earl haley kind of failed. it's not all his fault, the directors probably were too amature to give proper direction, and the make up made him look like an alien mouse cat fish thing... also he had no sense of humor and that's a freddy trade mark.
i aint happy about it either they also did the same to hellraiser and doug bradley did an amazing job

SteveIriwinFan96 1 month ago

@26michaeluk Okay. Just as a question, why do you two dislike one another?
SteveIriwinFan96 2 weeks ago
@SteveIriwinFan96 She is a MOD on the Nightmare website. I got tired of the remake being bashed and not being aloud to be critcal of anything about the original series. I posted a thread asking everyone name at least 1 thing the liked about JEH portrayal of Freddy and no negative comments cause I was tired of seeing it bashed. Nancy sent me a private email telling me not to post anything like that anymore. It made me furious. I tried telling the forum but by that time she ...

@SteveIriwinFan96 ... believe that? 3rd- That was I was combative after she sent me that message. I had a right to be. Now anyone who liked the remake has left because of her and the other MODS shit. @26michaeluk Well, thanks for that. While I'm a not a big fan of the remake, I'll take it over Hellraiser Revealations or TCM: The Next Generation. As far as I'm considered, those don't even belong in the series.
SteveIriwinFan96 2 weeks ago
@SteveIriwinFan96 I understand that a lot of people did not like the remake. But I also understand the minute it was announced Robert was not playing Freddy that most at that moment decided the movie would suck and never gave themselves a chance to like it. I liked it cause it was a least serious. I think the sequels did a great disservice to the character of Freddy by making him funny. Too funny. Anyways, would love to here your opinion and why you did not like it. thanks
26michaeluk 1 month ago

26michaeluk 1 month ago

26michaeluk 1 month ago
@26michaeluk Sorry for the late reply, anyway, I haven't watched any of the Halloween movies because I'm not really into horror. I'm into 80's style in general. Which includes music, movies, tv shows... and pretty much the way of living. And as a 15 year old, I haven't seen anyone my age who's interested in the 80's. Anyways, back to Freddy. I've also realized that he didn't talk much in the first movie, which made him even scarier in my opinion.
SURROUNDEDBYCOMMENTS 1 month ago
@SURROUNDEDBYCOMMENTS I am not really into horror either. Thats why I dont know hardly anything about Halloween and Friday the 13th. I just love the concept of Nightmare movies. Being killed in dreams is scary. Everyone has to dream. If anyone else could let me know about the Halloween series and Friday series please let me know
26michaeluk 1 month ago

Seriously thanks again bro for looking that stuff up, that was very cool of you
26michaeluk 1 month ago
@26michaeluk You're welcome. I just watched the 2009 sequel. I liked it, but I liked the 2007 more. Although I like the fact that in the sequel Michael Myers wore a long hobo coat and has facial hair, makes his condition very realistic. That's all I can say, I don't wanna ruin anything for you. I guess it's time for me to watch the original, I'm super excited. Anyway, a few days ago I watched the Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2003 Remake. I barely know the series and I don't think I'll get into it.
SURROUNDEDBYCOMMENTS 1 month ago
@26michaeluk I do agree it was good that they made it darker. I'll admit, they just made it plain silly as the seires progressed. Freddy vs. Jason was serious. It had some funny moments, but over all serious. I guess the one thing worse then it is Hellraiser Revelations.
SteveIriwinFan96 3 weeks ago
The Old Freddy is better than the New Freddy I think that Robert Englund gives to the character the real sense of humor, in the movies of the 80's there was realism, good sense of humor of Freddy and talent, in the new movie Jackie Earle Haley looks too grim and he stained the the look and the real sense of humor of the old one
Touring9 2 months ago 2
@Touring9 The sense of humor ruined the character in the sequels. The original had Freddy scary in a demented way. In the others it was funny. He was never meant to be funny. JEH played a different kind of Freddy which is what they were going for. As far as realism goes, the new one he looked really burnt, the original series he was a cheese pizza. No one can top Freddy of the original movie but JEH tops the Freddy of the sequels in my opinion.
26michaeluk 2 months ago
@26michaeluk There was always some humor though, even in the first film. You need that a little bit otherwise the audience will end up laughing at the film rather than with it.
I honestly haven't seen the remake yet, but it makes sense that it could be better than the sequels. On the other hand though I do think writing in Hollywood isn't what it used to be.
NeverDoubt1 2 months ago
@NeverDoubt1 You are right, there was humor in the first one. But it wasnt cheesy one liners. It was scary and creepy and threatening
26michaeluk 2 months ago
@26michaeluk Yes exactly, I mean that's the way it always is. The first one hits the perfect note and then the sequels throw away all signs of subtlety, lol.

@26michaeluk Thanks, you too! Yeah you have to search a bit on YT to find good debates sometimes, lol. Anyway, I'd be willing to see the remake, you should definitely give things a chance before judging. It's just that nowadays fans always seem to have to put in the extra effort to make sure the originals aren't forgotten for the crime of being old. I guess there has to be some sort of balance here, lol.
Btw I'm a sis, not a bro, but that's OK, lol.

26michaeluk 2 months ago
@26michaeluk Yeah totally that's the one thing I definitely can appreciate about remakes, they can potentially create excitement for the originals again. And as I believe Robert Englund said one time, at least it's giving people work, hehe.
NeverDoubt1 2 months ago
@NeverDoubt1 Well I'll have to wait before I can see the remake but I can comment on parts I've seen. I actually like the concept behind the pre school kids not remembering, that was effectively creepy and interesting and I can see it having a lot of potential. Freddy himself I'm a little underwhelmed by. His voice sounds like a standard human villain and doesn't really stand out to me. And his makeup makes him look like a dinosaur or alien or something.
NeverDoubt1 2 months ago
@NeverDoubt1 I hope you get a chance soon to watch the whole thing
26michaeluk 2 months ago
@26michaeluk Actually I did have a question for you. I know in the original films, the initial intent was for Freddy to be a pedophile but they backed off of that because of scandals during the '80s. What do you think about them bringing back the pedophile idea for the remake?
NeverDoubt1 1 month ago
@NeverDoubt1 Yeah originally we was portrayed as both child murderer/molester. Even though the molester was officially dropped, it was always insinuated. My thoughts about him being strictly a pedo is both positive and negative. The good was that he had a direct connection to the victims. I thought this aspect made more sense. Now the bad is that this has soured a lot of peoples view of the remake. The first thing is what was the purpose of the glove? It kinda shows he used it to
26michaeluk 1 month ago
@NeverDoubt1 .. cut the kids but that was just stupid. Now for me I look at it like he was making the glove because he was ready to begin killing them. I like to think that in burning to death, it brought out the real monster and murderer. Plus a sequel can quickly go back and say he killed kids and I would expect that to happen. Personally it made me hate Freddy more which is how I like it. I dont think he was supposed to be rooted for. There is no way you can after finding out
26michaeluk 1 month ago
Plus with the remake, if they wanted a movie about beating a molestor, that's fine. But then don't have the guy making jokes (wet dream, etc), why would I want to laugh with him at that point? I'd just want him arrested (yes I know he's dead already lol). This story was already done about 80 years ago with the movie "M" and did a great job of making you hate the guy but also pity him. The remake doesn't know what it wants to do. Good idea, confused execution for me.
NeverDoubt1 1 month ago
@NeverDoubt1 I respect your opinion. But I dont get why a lot of people seem to condemn him for being a pedo but then act like killing children is not as bad. Its just as bad if not worse. Robert gets a pass cause he just kills the kids? Murder or molest children is on the same level to me.
26michaeluk 1 month ago
It does make some sense when you think about it. Violence is something all around us, always been hard to ignore. And we have evolved to a point where we can make light of it in order to conquer it. But molestation is something we've really only recently begun to deal with as a culture (it's always existed but only recently acknowledged in the public eye). And the wounds are still so fresh in our minds that we don't accept humor or shocker entertainment coming from it.
NeverDoubt1 1 month ago
@NeverDoubt1 You make a very good point with this comment. Murder and death is always something that is around us and has been whether on tv or the news for the longest time and molestation is really only now being discussed and has not been brought out into the limelight till only recently so I get that point as well. damnit lol
26michaeluk 1 month ago
@NeverDoubt1 The wet dream line was from one of the sequels and she was in a big thing of blood. I never took that line the wrong way and for the most part people liked it. So you dont want to laugh with a pedo but you are cool laughing at a child murderer? See thats why it irks me so much. Actually JEH made me feel pity, anger, sickening, and scary all at the same time. I think that shows how talented an actor he really is
26michaeluk 1 month ago
You mentioned earlier about people "rooting" for Freddy. It's not so much that. It's like something Captain Kirk said, "We can be against him and admire him all at the same time." The same has been true of characters in history. Villains are often the more complex and fascinating personalities. The good guys are bland, 1 dimensional and kinda stupid which is why they're always caught, lol. But villains are different. That's why Ahab is talked about more than Ishmael. (Con't)
NeverDoubt1 1 month ago
@NeverDoubt1 You can apply your metaphor to other subjects as well such as US soldiers in the Vietnam War. Fighting against the Viet Cong. We were against them and hated them but we also admired the way they fought while being outgunned and having nowhere near the technology and firepower that US soldiers had. This comment had nothing to do with my argument. I just put what you said in similar context lol
26michaeluk 1 month ago
@26michaeluk That is a good metaphor actually!
NeverDoubt1 1 month ago
But we don't admire a molester. When you think about it it's more of a realistic and close to home fear than the idea of an over the top child serial killer. I think that's why many people are not willing to use it as entertainment.
NeverDoubt1 1 month ago
@NeverDoubt1 Your right. Villians are more complex and interesting than there bland counterparts. Great point. There is much more fear of a complex serial killer because that subject has been out there for so long and has been well discussed and thought about. Pedophiles on the other had are disgusting and bring up different emotions when thought or talked about. As you said that makes it to hard to not be bothered by it when confronted with it in movies and makes it almost
26michaeluk 1 month ago
Yeah exactly, the crimes produce different reactions. Even in prisons, murderers beat up the molestors. Have you seen that movie I mentioned M? It's a German film from 1931 with Peter Lorre playing a child killer. The sexual angle is implied there through symbolism but honestly I didn't notice it until I listened to the commentary, lol. (Con't)
NeverDoubt1 1 month ago
@NeverDoubt1 Your are right about the murderers beating up molesters, whoever, any crime against a child will get you beet up and murdering children is looked upon just as bad, if not worse than molesting children. No I have not seen the move M.
26michaeluk 1 month ago
But it's a really good movie and one of the first talkies. In the end it's basically a debate about the death penalty. Lorre is captured by this mob and makes this speech about how it would be wrong to kill him because he has no control over his compulsions to murder. The points they bring up are surprisingly modern for an 80 year old movie! Kind of the original Krueger, lol.
NeverDoubt1 1 month ago
@NeverDoubt1 I would really like to see that movie just for the reasons you have stated. I would not even know how go go about getting or watching it, any suggestions?
26michaeluk 1 month ago
@26michaeluk Well you could type in "Peter Lorre M" on YT and go right to his monologue at the end, brilliant piece of acting! This is where the mob of criminals has captured the child killer and he's begging for his life. Like I said the movie's in German with subtitles.
NeverDoubt1 1 month ago
@NeverDoubt1 subtitles dont bother me at all. I actually kind of like watching a movie like that. Weird right? Thank you and I will check it out. Did you get the PM about NEW NIGHTMARE I sent you?
26michaeluk 1 month ago
@26michaeluk Oh good, well let me know what you think. Yup I saw the PM, stay tuned! lol
NeverDoubt1 1 month ago
@NeverDoubt1 ... impossible to stomach when seeing it, let alone accepting it as a form of entertainment. See you have make me think of this differently and it now makes sense why most people felt the way you did about it being out there in the movie. Now if they would have made him a serial killer as well it would be easier to get around the pedo aspect of the film. You have done your research that is for sure lol.
26michaeluk 1 month ago
@NeverDoubt1 ... he was a pedo. It makes him sicker and darker. Plus it was only thrown if your face at the very end. You never see the pictures and are left to form your own conclusion as to what was on them. Also the last seen was very icky with Nancy being in that dress and the way he was talking to her. Now they can add the murderer and change it and I would be happy. What are your thoughts? I know it really threw a lot of people off
26michaeluk 1 month ago
In the 1st film I feel like it's up for interpretation. I don't feel like I'm watching a guy attracted to kids. I think he's a more effective villain that way. People watch violence in films to enjoy being scared, to laugh at it and conquer it (Not talking about the sequels, just the original). But you can't enjoy watching a pedophile. We can't conquer that with slasher shocks or humor, it's insensitive, no matter what Family Guy thinks. That's why it was dropped. Con't...
NeverDoubt1 1 month ago
@26michaeluk Sorry for the multiple posts, lol. Just to sum up, slasher films are basically our way of making light of our real life fears. I don't mean by one liners but just by treating it like scary entertainment. But you can't make light of a molester that way, you just can't. And if they had tried in the original, I almost guarantee it wouldn't be the classic it is today.
NeverDoubt1 1 month ago
@NeverDoubt1 Again if you can make light for a child murderer then you should be able to make light of the pedo act. They are both one and the same type of crimes. The worst imaginable. Every single cast member or extra or what not all call him a child molester/killer in the Never Sleep Again documentary. Its always there in the originals, its just not thrown in your face. So it would certainly still be a classic cause thats how almost all people viewed him. I see your side though
26michaeluk 1 month ago
@26michaeluk Just because the creators say it doesn't mean that's how he appeared to audiences of the first film, especially when there was an effort made to play it down. You can't always go by the creators. George Lucas think the prequels were great, but the fans know better, heh.
NeverDoubt1 1 month ago
@NeverDoubt1 Fair point on that. You got me on that one damnit. lol
26michaeluk 1 month ago
OK last thing, lol, I liked how Robert Englund put it at a convention once. Because they had to play that angle down in the 1st film, Freddy's crimes became more symbolic. He's killing children, which are innocence and the future. Making it more abstract does make it more thought provoking from a story point of view.
NeverDoubt1 1 month ago
@NeverDoubt1 I believe Robert was referring to all the movies when he said that because in New Nightmare it is Wes Craven who says that Freddys evil stood for one thing, and that was the murder of innocence. I agree that making it abstract is more thought provoking from the story and audience point of view. I certainly see that
26michaeluk 1 month ago
@NeverDoubt1 Ok now I see where you are coming from and I thank you for having the patience to explain it to me. While the aspect certainly was disgusting in the film, it did not have the effect it had on you and other people for me but now you have opened my eyes to look at it from your point of view and again I thank you and I love the points you made, damnit lol
26michaeluk 1 month ago
No problem, thanks for putting up with my ramblings, lol. And I'll definitely meet you half way, I'm not saying the remake's idea was totally wrong. Standing on its own separate from the originals, it would be fine as a horror movie. Everyone can identify with childhood seeming all innocent and cute on the outside but actually being filled with fear and scary images on the inside (though thankfully most of us didn't go through what the kids in the movie did).
NeverDoubt1 1 month ago
@NeverDoubt1 I had not seen these until I got your message. Its def not ramblings bro. Seriously you helped me see why people did not like it. Although as I said it didnt bother me, i can see why it did you and others. I agree on its own a lot more people would probly like it as well. Good point, we can all identify with childhood supposed to be innocent but filled with fear and scary images inside.
26michaeluk 1 month ago
What's the point of a modernized remake if this new version lacks substance, a consistent script, good acting and especially, creepy moments? A friend of mine didn't watch the originals and yet, she found the movie ridiculously predictable and boring. I don't think Haley's a bad actor in anyway, but due to the pathetic screenplay, he created a Freddy that isn't even remotely interesting and is much more of a forgettable character than the demented sadistic killer that the fans are used to.
MissDollStar 2 months ago 2

26michaeluk 2 months ago
@26michaeluk It's not true that remakes don't affect the originals. The remake DVDs end up being put out in front in the stores while the originals (which are usually better movies) get shoved to the back. And a lack of a remake does not mean a character as "died."
NeverDoubt1 2 months ago
@NeverDoubt1 Thats petty bro. That does not affect the originals. Older movies are usually behind newer movies. It does not change what you think of the original and the original is still the same no matter where its put. Who cares if someone sees the remake first? The person will watch it and then maybe the originals and decide for them self. If new movies dont get made we are stuck with the original series. A character as awesome as Freddy needs to get introduces to the new >
26michaeluk 2 months ago
@26michaeluk Freddy can be introduced to the new generations but you don't automatically need remakes to make that happen. Kids are certainly capable of enjoying older movies and often do in fact. I'm not sure why it's so terrible to be "stuck with" the originals. ;)
NeverDoubt1 2 months ago
@NeverDoubt1 cont> generation. The remake is usually the way todays fans learn about the original series. The movies will look dated and not hold up well. It needed a fresh start. We already had plenty of crappy sequels. We needed something new to get the series going again
26michaeluk 2 months ago
@26michaeluk That's your opinion that the older movies are dated and don't hold up. You're welcome to it but not every young person feels that way.
Now if a kid gets introduced to the original through a remake, that's great obviously. But I don't want to teach kids the lesson that new = good and old = bad.
NeverDoubt1 2 months ago
@NeverDoubt1 Oh Im not stating my opinion as fact for the record. I feel a certain way and like debating people who see it a different way. I dont want to teach them that originals=good and remakes=back. They are def capable of liking originals. About the series, a lot of people are fine with it and happy with it. My problem is that they are only up for a new movie if Robert is playing Freddy. He has played him plenty and did everything he possibly could with the character but>
26michaeluk 2 months ago
@26michaeluk Gotcha, yeah it is good to debate these things. :)
NeverDoubt1 2 months ago
@NeverDoubt1 the last few sequels were horrible and made hardly any money. I dont want another dream child. The sequels left me very disapointed. The character and concept of Freddy needs new mythology and new audiences. Its a sin in my eyes to leave the character in the original series. The more time goes by it creates a gap between people who dont even know who or what Freddy is. We needed a modernzation of the story. I dont know why any Freddy fan would not want for there to>
26michaeluk 2 months ago
@26michaeluk I get what you mean about revitalizing the series. Just that "modernization" is always kind of a red flag to me. It's not about whether a remake is modern, but whether it's written well, like the original first film. And for whatever reason remakes often disappoint in this area.
NeverDoubt1 2 months ago
@NeverDoubt1 The original was awesome and my favorite horror movie. But that movie had quite a few flaws. The worst part is the ending that made no sense at all. My favorite scene which is Tinas death had the long arms that looked terrible even then. When Nancys mom is pulled through the window is obvious it was a dummy. There are more to. Some of the acting was horrible. To many things to list now. It also had flaws in the writing. But your statement that remakes often disappoint>
26michaeluk 2 months ago
@NeverDoubt1 be new movies made. You cant bottle up a story like this one. It would be closing it off to people. It was either remake or nothing. It was a new freddy or nothing. Im sorry i dont want to be stuck with nothing.
26michaeluk 2 months ago
@26michaeluk You don't have nothing. You have the original first film, which is the classic (leaving out the sequels for a minute). I personally don't understand why that's not enough for some fans. Not being rude, but I just never understood that mindset.
NeverDoubt1 2 months ago
@NeverDoubt1 > in the writing area. The reasons I think that happens is cause first unreal expectations, going into it thinking it will suck, hate it just for being a remake are a lot of the problems. About the being enough for fans, it is enough if the original is all we have but any chance of getting a new nightmare movie should be celebrated. Take advantage of it. There doesnt have to be more movies, but I freaking love it if there is. A new freddy movie, fuck yeah I say
26michaeluk 2 months ago
@26michaeluk Honestly, I know fans will have expectations, but beyond that I am concerned with the quality of Hollywood lately just in general. I don't see respect for the acting or writing craft the way there used to be. Maybe we disagree here and that's fine. :)
NeverDoubt1 2 months ago
@NeverDoubt1 Oh trust me, I dont disagree with you at all about what was used to be called Hollywood. Its pathetic how far the movie industry has fallen. No good movies or scripts, just alot teeny bopper bullshit. Ive lost all faith for that. Other than the nightmare remake I havent seen hardly any new movies cause they usually suck. Its sad that movies made in the 70s and 80s is much superior to todays BS. I totally agree with you bro
26michaeluk 2 months ago
@NeverDoubt1 I am really biased about the remake as well though cause I was just so happy a new freddy movie came out so I cant really dis it you see. lol
26michaeluk 2 months ago
@26michaeluk Oh yeah I mean if remakes in general did deliver more in the writing department, I'd definitely warm up to them because the anticipation can be exciting.
NeverDoubt1 2 months ago

On its own the remake is fairly decent, but "only on its own."
gothtigger92 2 months ago
@gothtigger92 I know it's a really hard task, but you need to watch the remake without trying to compare it to the original (even if some of the scenes are taken straight out of the original). Watch it with an open mind, and if you can handle the thought of watching it a few more times it may start to grow on you. You never know until you give it a chance.
gothtigger92 2 months ago
@gothtigger92 I concur. I too, have all the ANOES films (including the new one) and although it doesn't compar to the original AND Robert Englund will always be the best Freddy..The remake was okay for what it was..a remake. I give it like a B-.

Sorry
26michaeluk 2 months ago
@EdwardNygma1 New ideas, old ideas, they have to be well written and that is sorely lacking in Hollywood lately.
NeverDoubt1 2 months ago

MorbidHorrorMadness 2 months ago
Love the old Freddy but who's doesn't? And I'm glad they made a remake. I wanted to see how someone else who played Freddy would do it. New Freddy is more realistic, serious and sinsiter. Which I enjoyed. Freddy has personality he's not an emotionless slasher like Jason or Micheal. That's why people are getting mad. Jason and Micheal get new actors all the time.
31thatkidagain 4 months ago

MyComicStyle 5 months ago 2
@MyComicStyle Freddy was orginally going to be a child molster, and its adds an intresting twist.. What does it matter what the gloves made out of? Because it was in the orginal. Because they felt like they needed to take justice into their own hands. They probably did care, but may have been biased at the time once they learned the horrible thing he did (small town). Why not? When you do it with no motivation/ are crazy. It is, in my opinion. Because hes awesome. It was written that way. xD

the remake NOT SCARY THE REMAKE NOTHING LIKE THE OLD STORY THE REMAKE SHIT! WHERE THE FUCK IS ROBERT ENGLUND WHEN U NEED HIM!A
gingercracker 5 months ago 17
The new actor, before he becomes the monster, he looks so kind and innocent. I don't want Freddy to look kind and innocent in the beginning. That's not who Freddy is. Freddy looked mean and evil before he got "killed". That's his character. He isn't like Michael Myers or Jason. They looked pretty innocent before they became the monsters that they are. But on them it WORKED. On Freddy, it doesn't really work. F13th remake and Halloween remake where the only ones that got it right.

bowlchamp411 6 months ago
@bowlchamp411
yes, yes we know. but that doesn't change the fact that jackie earl haley kind of failed. it's not all his fault, the directors probably were too amature to give proper direction, and the make up made him look like an alien mouse cat fish thing... also he had no sense of humor and that's a freddy trade mark.
