I have a flighted African Grey that I let fly around my home every moment I can. Which is most of the time I am home. I also thank my baby for being my companion every day. He is the sweetest little friend I have ever had and is preening on my shoulder as I type right now. We are close friends forever. I am not sure how anyone could ever starve, abuse, or neglect such a beautiful creature. However, human beings are, on average, emotionally blind and disconnected! Worst species on the planet!
I have indian ringneck abt 7 month old i really want him to enjoy his free wild life i have him since he was born i want to free him in wild but where can i find a place in usa where he has his own kind any help would be very greatful
If you love and treat your parrot well, he will be VERY VERY happy with you. Perhaps get him a mate and make sure he can free fly in a big room most of the time. He will have a lovely life. I have 2 ringnecks that live free flying in my living room and only go into their cage to sleep at night. They are perfectly happy and tame and very healthy. Don't clip wings, keep locked inside a cage, chase about, and then they will have a great life. treat with respect and understanding.
Ok, just want to let you know because I think you might have misunderstand something.
Not all birds are trapped like this. This is obviously parrots from the 1950s. People have banned capturing these majestic creatures. Birds that you see everyday are NOT birds than are from the wild. They are bred birds. Most people are caring for them nicely. They are not abused, negletted or anything. Most are cared ofr nicely
@fairfresh Parrots are still captured from the wild and sold cheaply. Check on that. It is not true that all birds are treated well and not even the majority is. There are so many people out there not knowing, not understanding or those who neiter want to know nor want to understand. Your view does not include non-western countries where animal rights are even less than here in our "glorious and golden west".
I breed over 200 types of birds (mostly parrots). I know people haven't banned them. True. I just wish everyone knows how to care for one properly. I really want you to back that up. We don't even have rescues in my country. All the birds are treated nicely. By the way, I said "most", not all. I guess the majority of parrots are cared for properly. I really would like you to back that up with trusty websites or graph/data.
@fairfresh I don't know where you live I can only speak for my homecountry and countries I get information from if there are rescues.
For Information about parrot or bird capturing you can always follow the news of nonGo's such as the Wild Bird Trust they also publish newspaper articles they find about capturing and parrot abuse. There are several other wildlife preservation organisations, can't name them all. Most capturing seems to happen in Africa with Greys.
@fairfresh I found problems even in Europe. It is a desaster. I am not fixed to one organisation. Just wanted to show you things I saw. You can join many groups on Facebook too. Good Luck!
My grandfather kept birds, and I have for most of my life - they require much time and care. Most buy on impulse, and when the novelty wears off, the bird is the one that suffers - an intelligent creature, left alone and ignored in it's cage. I get sick when I walk thru bird shops, one near me has over a thousand birds for sale. I am now against breeding. Yes, there are responsible bird owners - but so many are not. Please adopt a rescue parrot, so many need us!
i have seen some of these birds in a rescue in the UK, but they are dead now has the rescue thought more about money than the welfare of the birds. birds will keep dying in this rescue from pdd untill they stop doing what they do. there is a group trying to stop them now.
It's really hard to see that people mistreat birds. I myself own two budgies but everyday I try to pet them, even though they may run away. I buy them toys so they can have fun, I feed them and protect them from weather. Even though they are in a cage, I consider that and try to make their caged life better. I can't stand it when people think that birds don't need as much attention as other animals, because they DO. So love your pet birds because they are precious~♥
@Cookies2Sugar good to hear this, yes, we have to make their lives more interesting for them when we choose to keep them locked up - nice that you have two birds, as well, that helps a lot.
heart wrenching video i see this while y parrot sits on my lap trying to squint in the screen dont know what he understands but i surely understand that i need never forget y responsibility now the proble is even if i set hi free i doubt he wants to go and even if he does then he wont survive long in manade concrete world for long thus cage is his only guarantee for living
Acttualy this Video is a Lie when i saw it i Asked my Dad (His a Police) I asked him if u could Kill a Parrot And he said thats Part of the Law you cant Kill a Parrot And by the way Parrots Live In the Forest Very Far Away From Humans That i Bet a Human Cant Reach There
@puppiesrule09 so you're saying that hunters and trappers dont exist and thay people dont do illegal things, and these are all photoshopped? so when they catch the parrots, they give them nice, loving cages in mexico where there is no police? dont believe your daddy kid. he may be a police officer, but there are still things going on in mexico like this. and since the birds live very far away that we cant reach them, you're saying my 2 pet sun conures are a lie and dont exist. your daddy lied.
@quintinp02 As someone that will one day breed birds myself I find this video sickening and felt i had a right to say something about it HOWEVER i chose to, and i did. Furthermore, your comment even insinuating that i am insulting educated, caring and loving breeders is downright offensive and not to mention wayyy off the mark of what i was trying to say. So be more intelligent when trolling people that are obviously more educated then you. :)
so cruel i have two quakers, one male and another i think is male but has one splayed leg, and gets around well,, i hate how people do this to innocent creatures................. beautiful creatures, i watched this clip,,, and it is my own fault i watched it, i knew this cruelty and stupidity of some people in this clip would make me sad
This is why i spoil mine with delicious food, giant cages and lots of friends :) These kind of videos just depress me..no bird/creature of God deserves that. They are all beautiful and have their own unique personalities. If those ''breeders'(assholes)' could see that i bet theyd go insane with shame.
@m0sas i just want to say you didn't specifically say which breeders you were talking about, but as you posted you have a parrot or a few as i read,, i am understanding that you got these birds more than likely from a breeder (RIGHT),,,,, so be more specific when throwing random cuss words out towards people that you probably have supported
@quintinp02 first off, i take it you treat animals like shit with your random issue with me hating animal abuse. ANYWAYS, i put 'breeders' in quotations (if you bothered to look), in regards to the disgusting people who did that to the birds in the video. Common sense and a 3rd grade education would've told you that. Its not any of your damn business, but i get my birds from a local breeder and family friend which i GLADLY support bc they truly love and care about their animals.
@m0sas yes, but what about the breeders in all countries who breed to make lots of money, they don't care where the birds wind up - in the hands of people who don't give them proper care and attention, who don't feed them well or get them vet care - as long as you have cash or a credit card, you can have a parrot. Who cares if the noise or extra work bothers you after a few months and you stick the bird cage in a closet with a blanket over it? Believe me, it happens, I've seen it.
@Bhav341 the fuck are you even getting at? i love my birds i take care of them and if i could i would have 20 more. theyre not some novelty item to me, ive grown up taking care of birds theyre like family to me so i sincerely hope you are not comparing me to some low life animal abuser that sticks their bird in the closet. the people who are responsible for all of the abuse in this video are sick fucking people, if you cant see that then im sure theyre hiring and you can go to hell with them.
@m0sas good lord. I wasn't referring to you, just adding to the conversation here. I'm on your side. I am glad you know a nice breeder, but the majority of them do it for the money. They don't care where the birds wind up, or if they get good homes. They just make their money supplying the pet stores. And because of that, I think there should be limits on breeders, because too many birds wind up in inappropriate homes.
@Bhav341 oh okay im sorry, i must have misread. i agree 100%. alot of people purchase birds dogs, snakes etc. etc. bc they think its 'cute' but when it comes down to it, you have to make alot of sacrifices for these animals and they need alot of time attention and patience. its just disgusting to me that people let this happen. if you cant take care of your bird it takes 10 mins and no money to take them to a shelter or breeder and give them away.
my 6 rescue parrots get most of my time, they have been used and misused so poorly, my Moluccan was going to be PUT DOWN because he was screaming in anger, confusion and fear :'( my home is always welcome to the used and abused parrots of this world and I will always feel this way, may God take pity on these soul-less creatures that can only harm other living beings *sniff*
What the Devil is wrong with people? Money's a powerful motivator, but how can you not feel like you're going straight to Hell when you stuff a bunch of wild birds into a filthy cage, or neglect them to the point of ignoring blatant wounds?
Those who willingly and knowingly abuse animals should go through everything they put their victims through.
I can stand looking at a lot of horrible things, but when i see animal cruelty i feel their pain and i want to do all i can to help the poor creatures whose life has been made a living hell because of the cruelty of man. My parrots recieves love and care every day and has everything their hearts could desire, I cry my heart out for those poor birds who has no life in the wild as the birds they are and the ones who has no loving family to care for them...
Thanks for the video and letting us know how cruel most humans are. People, it's all about the money. Poachers don't care about the bird whatsoever, just how much money they can get.
HOW COULD HUMANS BE SO CRUEL I HAVE LOTS OF PARROTS I AM A BREEDER I HAVE A GREAT CAGE IN MY GARDEN WHEN ITS COLD I BRING MY BIRDS AND PARROTS IN SADDDDD:)
My heart breaks for these beautiful animals to see so many not treated right shoved into cages and never getting out to just be breed or sold . .How would a Human feel if they were put in a cage and left there in their own filth???
gosh people are so bitches man cant they just let them be free cause their like people and how would they like to be treated like that i mean i have a parrot but id prefer him being in the wild than with me
Something rarely stated during conversation following such an emotional film is the importance of protecting habitat of the creatures involved. A person that is upset at the content of the film might be the most angry at regulatory measures intended to protect those same species in their natural state. If we don't come to a consensus on protecting, sharing habitat with our fellow creatures, they're as good as lost...
This made me cry. I love my parrot so much and couldn't imagine treating him badly. They make such great friends and will love you back .. how can people do this.
its horrible to see a imprissoned bird, i just lost my parakeet to a tumor if which he had removed and sadly died of a seizure when we got him home, i open the cage when i get home at around half 3 and there out till 11 at night flyin around the house, im still devestated by his death as hes left a hole that will never be filled :(( r.i.p billy never forgotten
Now, he flies outside daily and loves it. He thinks that's where he shiould use the restroom and I couldn't be happier. i love seeing him spread his wings. He's so attached to me that he flies back to me when I ring his bell. I just wonder if it's a good idea to get another one. I don't know where they come from and bu buying one, I think it's fueling this cruelty, at the same time, I think he could use a friend. Any input?
@ScorpioRay83 You are his friend. Don't get another one, you'll just reduce the tameness of him.. And eventually he will see the other parrot as his friend and leave u behind. Which results maybe in flying away when u're freeflying ;)
@ThaMaikel13 Thanks for this advise. I have to force him to fly nowadays. lol. He actually prefers to walk rather than fly. He eats everything...and I mean everything. when i take him outside, he walks with me, and if I get too far away from him, then he'll fly to catch up. He likes to fly on top of the house and stare at me when I mow the lawn...he really is a good friend.
@ThaMaikel13 - That is a very selfish way to view it. Shouldn't one care more about the needs of the bird instead of our own selfish needs? I'm sorry, but I just can't understand how you can put your own wants of a "cuddly bird" before the birds need for companionship of his own kind. They have not chosen to be our "pets", so we should be as little selfish as possible. And that includes giving our naturally living flock animals friends of their own kind.
@Skywalker91 I'm not viewing it selfish.. I'm just viewing it at the point of why u bought a parrot, to make it tame and learn it to talk right? If I wanted him and a partner I would've gotten him in a big cage in my backyard..
They look soo pretty and healthy wild. I have one and have had him for 3 years. He's molting and I can't do as good a job as another quaker. Should I consider getting him a friend? After having him, then seeing them in the wild, I believe that's where they should be. they look so much happier. Not to day mine isn't, but he can't live fully with his wings clipped, or being confined to my house. I've decided to let his wings grow again, being that he's flown away and returned twice already.
this makes me feel reaaaly bad for my 5 birds...but, i do really try my best to keep them happy, and i even let them out of their cage daily and fly around my house, and then when they're done flying, i put their cage outside so they can interact with other birds....and i can tell they r happy by they're body language..so ppl out there who abuse these amazing animals should watch this vid and c what they r doing to them.. :C Those of u who take care of these birds, good job, keep it up. thumbs up
I have birds myself, but They only took these birds out of their habitat so they could get money. How would humans like it if they were taken from their homes and sold?
It's so sad to hear about people who buy birds for the wrong reasons, and for those who don't understand that some birds are as smart as young children!
Thank you for recognizing that not all pet owners are cruel to their pets! I hate hearing people tell me I'm an "abuser" for owning a pet (if they saw my bird, they'd know I spoil him worse than a grandmother to her first and only grandchild!) A realistic video. Thank you!
This video is ALWAYS in the forefront of my mind in my interactions with Rocky, my adopted female umbrella cockatoo. The only time she is ever locked in her cage is at night when I put her to bed. The rest of the time, she is out of her cage, has tons of toys to play with, and receives lots of interaction with her flock (us...the family) throughout the day. She was just a shadow of a bird, in fact didn't even know how to be a bird, when I first got her. Over 3 years of therapy changed that.
this is why i don't want to clip my parrot's wings, and i never will !! so he can feel free and wonderful..I feel so happy when he flies around my house :)
What happened to the poor baby at 4:05??? Maybe he hurt its legs and people are not guilty. They can do nothing to the poor thing. Maybe took it to the vet, but the wounds heal slowly. Anyway, you can see that they put him on a towel, so he will heal. Poor baby. It made me cry.
My parrot stays ALL DAY LONG in the balcony! I bring him in the evening only inside; where he sleeps. I go in the balcony to play with him, to kiss him on his belly, and he is very happy. In the morning, when he is seeing me waking up, it calls for me to let him go. I open his cage, and he goes, chirping, screaming with joy. He is a happy budgie! I don't see why people buy parrots to keep them locked in their cage. It's cruel!
this video made me cry. i have 4 wonderful parrots that i love dearly. and it is terrible to know that there are so many people out there that treat these jewels, these precious treasures with no love. Humanity was born on this planet to protect nature's gifts not destroy them... to harm them.. i could not watch the part with the dead greys, i have a timneth grey and i hugged him because of this saddness. i rescue parrots from people like these. and its hard to see them like this.
unfortunately each one of us who buys a parrot from a dealer is contributing to this trade. Even the ones who do provide all the love care and attention to the parrots afterwords we all are making this trade profitable. You think if you give them "several hours of love" that makes them a happy bird?? They would much rather be in the wild with their own kind... For every one good owner there are 10 bad ones. And it will never change , unfortunately... STOP BUYING THESE BIRDS! Adopt them instead.
@tati31251@tati31251 if you watch my amazon parrot you will notice that at times he is happy, at times he is grumpy, at times he is content..a bit like a person really. I go to work for 8 hours a day, I hate it but put up with it, yes he is in his cage during that period of time as well but at least he has toys to play with rather than having to shovel shit all day ;) I wish a person could give me several hours of love a day, my amazon is lucky! True though, only adopt or get a hand reared.
It is so sad that some people treat them like mere objects. Even if they may not show it like we do, they have feelings too ): *sniff* RIP all those poor birds who died. It's so hard to watch this video; but I'm happy that there are people showing efforts to stop this suffering.
Please just...at least give them fair treatment T_T
I like it but can't watch it, we have greys, no cages, their own toyroom and bedroom. They are my angels, so special, make me smile everyday. Do Not understand how a so called man can be so careless and senceless, it hurts deep inside.
The thing is, unlike dogs, parrots havn't been kept for thousands of years, so like the negros right after slavory was abolished, they are tr.eated poorly by a lot of people
I don't understand why people still get birds out of the wild! We have pretty much every species of parrot we need to breed and sell to responsible owners. It's not like we buy wild parrots for pets.
It breaks my heart to see such beautiful, intelligent, and curious creatures faced with so much torture...they don't deserve it. Only the most passionate person should be able to have a parrot. Such lovely animals...due to so much cruelty. My deepest regards and wishes for all of the parrots out there.
The breeding of parrots NEEDS TO STOP. If you want a parrot, go to a rescue. How can we keep up this breeding. DO YOU NOT SEE? This video is one of many that shows the truth about what is happening.
It kills me to see birds of all things trapped even when it's got the run of an entire house.
I will rehome birds, but as much as I love them, they just aren't doesticated species that aren't as easily healthy and content in the confines of a home.
I have a blue-and-gold macaw named Peeko. She is in a large cage outside, big enough to fit in seven full-grown adults. It's underneath an overhang so that if it rains, she doesn't get wet, and we feed her every day. When it gets too cold we bring her inside, but she loves the fresh air so much that we make sure she has enough of it.
I can't believe people would do this to birds. They are wonderful creatures.
This is why my sweet baby boy gets several hours a day out of cage time and has a nice big cage when he needs to be secure. They are special creatures needing love and devotion. Cruelty just breaks my heart.
@seattlegrrlie You should be ashamed of posting this! Neither your bird belongs to you,nor to your country's fauna, it has the right to be free and when you buy it you are encouraging bird smuggling.
@tozinim I too have a parrot. An umbrella cockatoo. And this video is very sad. I did not buy my cockatoo, but rescued him from a neglected home. I am his 3rd, and forever home. He was never held or loved until he came to me. I prefer they stay free and wild, but I could not and would not have turned my back on him. We make mistakes, it is what we do to heal the wounds made by our human mistakes that matter. I hope that I matter to my feathered friend.
@4lowva Excellent points. I too have a "used" bird and believe I am his 3rd owner. He isn't the most charming or entertaining Amazon, and only talks when he sees me with something he wants to eat - but I love him anyway and he deserves a better life than what he got stuck with originally. I wish I could adopt more, but the vet bills are just too much for me. I did have cockatiels in the past that i bought as hand raised babies - before I knew better about adoption.
This is so sad. Parrots are wonderful companions but require much attention, love, and respect. They never should be caged. My parrot is the love of my life. He is NEVER caged. He is my equal and my friend. Sadly, few parrots enjoy such a life with people.
Both yes and no. The parrots in the wild should be in the wild, it is our (mankinds) fault that many parrot species are on the verge of extinction, but ironically, wild-caught parrots often cope better with captivity than hand-raised, captive-bred ones.
That doesn't justify the catching of wild parrots, but if we need to have birds in captivity - we should breed them in a way that resemble nature as close as possible. And that's NOT what we're doing now.
@Skywalker91 would you say that if you had an Orange winged amazon who comes up to you and rubs his head against your cheek, flys at you and lands on your shoulder and then starts preening your hair, shows his delight when you spray warm water at him with a hosepipe, cant stop chewing all the untreated wood I leave out for him, shouts hello when someone walks in the room and bye bye when someone leaves, and puts his head down asking for a stroke or plays with his mountain of toys all day?
that brought tears 2 my eyes how can people treat those gorgous birds like that!! i would die 4 my grey an i spend all my love, time an money on makin my birds lives perfect!!!!! those people need 2 be stoped!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i have a sun conure and she is spoiled and is out of her cage most of the time please dont say all bird owners are being cruel because we all arent my bird owns me which you will find alot of the bird community says about their bird (s).
my bird is a happy little girl who greets me with such joy every single day!
@tbirdtricia Were a primative race. Alot of us want all these fancy animals as pets wen they sould be free, in their own habitats. Though alot of us who keep them look after them really well, the majority mistreat and / or abuse them.
@tbirdtricia most parrots survive actually LONGER if kept in homes because the predators cannot do any harm to them. i have a parakeet in her huge HUGE cage and allow her to eat snacks and fly arround. in this vid it shows the careless owners
Everytime i watch this video, i just have to go give my birdies a hug.. i can't believe how people can treat such beautiful and innocent creatures this way.
This is such a beautiful song.. What a heart breaking video =( i can't imagine how people can be so heartless to treat such beautiful creatures this way..
This vid won't work for me for some reason... but this stuff should stop, of course. I have this spineless neighbor that buys dogs like its his birthday, tire them out and immediately buys more. On top of that, another set of neighbors right in my backyard literally starved a pit bull to death. It seared me, seeing them stuff the thing in a trash bag like that and throw it aside....THEN they move, as if they realized I could see them.
I was practically at PETA's front door when it occured. Those "cases" seemed to slip away without my family even noticing-- a new family was in theirs before we even knew it.
Now that's suspicious enough, but why didn't anyone notice? I'll never forget that. It proves that you don't have to be a career criminal to fit the bill.
I just rescued 2 Macaws, who after being kept in a small closet and tiel cage, their owner was going to wring their necks. I can not imagine how anyone could look at those sweet birds and want to kill them.
my macaw and blue front are out of their cages ALWAYS when i'm home.they only stay in cages when they have no supervision, for their own safety!! oh yeah, and there cages are huge and full of toys n food.............people are too quick to judge, n point fingers, n run their ignorant mouths......
higgsxzj this is about abuse not keeping birds in cages, if you take good care of your parrot nothings like the vid, people should not imprison wild birds
I liken it to us living in one room and never going outside, rarely (if ever) socialising with other humans, it may be all we'd ever known but we wouldn't be happy, we would long to go out :( All our basic needs taken away even down to someone else choosing what food we have.<
Even though they may know no other life than their captive one it doesn't mean they are content, they instinctively want to mate, nest, raise young, forage for food, and fly, which is why it is common for birds to feather pluck in captivity, their basic needs have been taken away from them.
a beautiful video. people need to be educated about our beautiful birds.Echoshot, you dont understand this video??????View it again, and maybe you will understand that man is killing parrots.. by cruelty....
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Fucking annoying video coupled to a fucking shitty Chinese bullshit soap opera level song. Overall fucking pathetic, fucking pointless, fucking liberal, and just fucking retarded. I hope you don't kill anything or eat anything animal ok? Much less keep anything living captive yourself. Fucking morons!
jonnyfx: Maybe you should have your fucking left eye gouged out and have to live your whole life in a 4x4 cage wallowing in your own shit for you to understand this video, you fucking prick. And why the fuck does everything that involves awareness of injustice and cruelty have to be "liberal" to you fucks? maybe you fucks should rid yourself of this planet and let us "evil liberals" live in harmony with each other, nature and the world.

This is why i spoil mine with delicious food, giant cages and lots of friends :) These kind of videos just depress me..no bird/creature of God deserves that. They are all beautiful and have their own unique personalities. If those ''breeders'(assholes)' could see that i bet theyd go insane with shame.
m0sas 8 months ago
@m0sas i just want to say you didn't specifically say which breeders you were talking about, but as you posted you have a parrot or a few as i read,, i am understanding that you got these birds more than likely from a breeder (RIGHT),,,,, so be more specific when throwing random cuss words out towards people that you probably have supported
quintinp02 8 months ago

Bhav341 3 months ago
@Bhav341 the fuck are you even getting at? i love my birds i take care of them and if i could i would have 20 more. theyre not some novelty item to me, ive grown up taking care of birds theyre like family to me so i sincerely hope you are not comparing me to some low life animal abuser that sticks their bird in the closet. the people who are responsible for all of the abuse in this video are sick fucking people, if you cant see that then im sure theyre hiring and you can go to hell with them.
m0sas 3 months ago
@m0sas good lord. I wasn't referring to you, just adding to the conversation here. I'm on your side. I am glad you know a nice breeder, but the majority of them do it for the money. They don't care where the birds wind up, or if they get good homes. They just make their money supplying the pet stores. And because of that, I think there should be limits on breeders, because too many birds wind up in inappropriate homes.
Bhav341 3 months ago
@Bhav341 oh okay im sorry, i must have misread. i agree 100%. alot of people purchase birds dogs, snakes etc. etc. bc they think its 'cute' but when it comes down to it, you have to make alot of sacrifices for these animals and they need alot of time attention and patience. its just disgusting to me that people let this happen. if you cant take care of your bird it takes 10 mins and no money to take them to a shelter or breeder and give them away.

Any input?
ScorpioRay83 1 year ago
@ScorpioRay83 You are his friend. Don't get another one, you'll just reduce the tameness of him.. And eventually he will see the other parrot as his friend and leave u behind. Which results maybe in flying away when u're freeflying ;)
ThaMaikel13 1 year ago
@ThaMaikel13 Thanks for this advise. I have to force him to fly nowadays. lol. He actually prefers to walk rather than fly. He eats everything...and I mean everything. when i take him outside, he walks with me, and if I get too far away from him, then he'll fly to catch up. He likes to fly on top of the house and stare at me when I mow the lawn...he really is a good friend.
ScorpioRay83 1 year ago
@ThaMaikel13 - That is a very selfish way to view it. Shouldn't one care more about the needs of the bird instead of our own selfish needs? I'm sorry, but I just can't understand how you can put your own wants of a "cuddly bird" before the birds need for companionship of his own kind. They have not chosen to be our "pets", so we should be as little selfish as possible. And that includes giving our naturally living flock animals friends of their own kind.
Skywalker91 1 year ago
@Skywalker91 I'm not viewing it selfish.. I'm just viewing it at the point of why u bought a parrot, to make it tame and learn it to talk right? If I wanted him and a partner I would've gotten him in a big cage in my backyard..
ThaMaikel13 1 year ago
They look soo pretty and healthy wild. I have one and have had him for 3 years. He's molting and I can't do as good a job as another quaker. Should I consider getting him a friend? After having him, then seeing them in the wild, I believe that's where they should be. they look so much happier. Not to day mine isn't, but he can't live fully with his wings clipped, or being confined to my house. I've decided to let his wings grow again, being that he's flown away and returned twice already.
ScorpioRay83 1 year ago
this makes me feel reaaaly bad for my 5 birds...but, i do really try my best to keep them happy, and i even let them out of their cage daily and fly around my house, and then when they're done flying, i put their cage outside so they can interact with other birds....and i can tell they r happy by they're body language..so ppl out there who abuse these amazing animals should watch this vid and c what they r doing to them.. :C Those of u who take care of these birds, good job, keep it up. thumbs up

It's cruel!

unfortunately each one of us who buys a parrot from a dealer is contributing to this trade.

@tati31251 @tati31251 if you watch my amazon parrot you will notice that at times he is happy, at times he is grumpy, at times he is content..a bit like a person really.

4lowva 11 months ago

NorthwardEquinox 2 years ago
@NorthwardEquinox I completely agree with you, but even having a bird in a house is equivalent to caging it - that's why the breeding needs to stop.
Skywalker91 2 years ago
but breeding is better the catching them from the wild and imprisoning them, isnt it?
toad2039 2 years ago
Both yes and no. The parrots in the wild should be in the wild, it is our (mankinds) fault that many parrot species are on the verge of extinction, but ironically, wild-caught parrots often cope better with captivity than hand-raised, captive-bred ones.
That doesn't justify the catching of wild parrots, but if we need to have birds in captivity - we should breed them in a way that resemble nature as close as possible. And that's NOT what we're doing now.
Parrots should not be pets, period.
Skywalker91 2 years ago
@Skywalker91 would you say that if you had an Orange winged amazon who comes up to you and rubs his head against your cheek, flys at you and lands on your shoulder and then starts preening your hair, shows his delight when you spray warm water at him with a hosepipe, cant stop chewing all the untreated wood I leave out for him, shouts hello when someone walks in the room and bye bye when someone leaves, and puts his head down asking for a stroke or plays with his mountain of toys all day?

I liken it to us living in one room and never going outside, rarely (if ever) socialising with other humans, it may be all we'd ever known but we wouldn't be happy, we would long to go out :( All our basic needs taken away even down to someone else choosing what food we have.<
FACT: Humans are mostly selfish.

FACT: humans are murderers, thieves, rapist, mass killers, cheaters, liers, and they are full of envy, lust, greed...
selfish and killing some birds is the least of our problem.

Even though they may know no other life than their captive one it doesn't mean they are content, they instinctively want to mate, nest, raise young, forage for food, and fly, which is why it is common for birds to feather pluck in captivity, their basic needs have been taken away from them.

Don't worry people. These parrots are in a better place.
Only the life they had to go through.
But, when this world does end, God will have no pity for these scums that do this.
I have 2 parakeets, and a Parrot, and I give them a good home, and a great life.
Why can't all people do this?
