Sorry to hear of your problems, wish I could help. You uploaded this in 2009, have you found a solution yet? I'm thinking of getting them because I keep getting cavities. Last time I went to the dentist, I had 16 of them (about one year ago) and he said I have the tooth enamel of a healthy 70 year old. I'm 23, and just today I had a cavity on a molar implode and counted at-least 8 more.
I just finished a root canal. Before the final filling, I experienced pain in the tooth area and my lower lib down to my chin went NUMB! The root canal is finished but the numbness continues. What can I do???
Robert, Have you gotten a blood test for Sjogren's? It's called an SSA/SSB then Dr. might do a lip or parotid gland biopsy, although some people(me) are negative in both manners. Good luck! Post back any progress-wishing you well!
I shelled out $50k + to root canal and crown my teeth in 1997 and within 2 years the upper ones had to be pulled because they were falling apart. Do not feel bad about having the teeth pulled you would have had to any way. Have you considered a trip abroad to have them fixed?. You can get implants in Argentina or Costa Rica for $500 ea and use those as anchors to make bridges.
I met a woman recently who had the exact same problem and so she just doesn't even where her dentures. Luckily she still looks pretty. Please, I see you made this video August, 2009, I am wondering if you finally solved your problem. If so please let me know so I can pass the info on to the woman I know. P.S. On the 18th of June I am having my top teeth pulled and will be getting my first dentures too.
u dshould try phenytoin, it can help all sorts of ailments, it regulates the electrical activity in the brain which is responsible for causing the majority of burning mouth syndrome cases, chin up, look up jack dreyfus!
@TheVolFan1 Sure does suck. I know everyone here has a tendency toward the psychiatric etiologies, but ALL physical/somatic symptoms MUST be indentified first. Then, if this is exhaustive, try the psychiatric route.
Have you thought about mini-implants? Those can be positioned where they are a few mm above your gums.
Dont despair, first thing is,if you smoke, you must stop, secondly, in this posting i cannot tell that you have dentures ,you look good, sound normal, your speech is perfect. Do all you can to eat the best diet, get a really good blender, blend fresh vegies and a protein powder ,four times a day, start going to a gym in the evenings to stimulate your bones because you want to avoid any more bone loss than you have had in the maxillia, mandibular ridges, you will overcome these problems"DO NOT GIVE UP"
yo I know this is abit late, but how do you feel mentally? if your really down an antidepressant might help, also i suffer from burning mouth syndrome on occasion, when Iam stressed, but if the burning is on your lips i dont think it is that, my burning mouth syndrome is mainly on the tongue, there are medications such as gabapentin and pregabalin that work wonders for nerve pain, also an antidepressant may help you get your life back. thanks and all the best.
Wow, I'm so sorry ur suffering so much. My prayers go out to u. I haven't had any denture related issues but I have had Burning Mouth Syndrome for about 6 months now. They say mine is caused by anxiety but idk for sure. I get a burning, tingling, scorched sensation in my whole mouth. Even makes my lips feel fevered or scorched and it goes down my throat and gives me heated breath. Sometimes I can't clear my throat. And it gets worse as the day goes on. BMS is hard to deal with. But I pray for u.
@Chloegirl7 hi maybe you could try phenytoin, 100mg, a day, i too have bms and am about to start phenytoin, it calms the electrical activity in the brain which is believed to cause anxiety and thus bms

Have you looked into possible nerve damage? You may be able to sue your dentists insurance to pay for fixing the problem

Get a MELISA test for metal allergies. Remove all metal from your mouth immediately.

@babygene52
There is no metal in my mouth.

Have you done a culture swab, sometimes candida albicans can also present a burning sensation when dentures irritate the mucosa.
krusty36m 2 years ago
I see a lot of this kind of thing in my practice.
There are alternative materials out there however Vinyl dentures (Nylon) are not the answer.
Have you actually been diagnosed by an allergist? Have you been checked for diabeties?
Try an antibiotic ointment like polysporin on the corners of your mouth to clear it up.
I am a denturist up in Canada, and I just thought I would find out how you are doing since the video was posted.
