Go to Stop Wolfdog Misrepresentation on facebook and learn all you need to know about wolfdog's, the care they need, what it takes to own one, if it is legal in your state/county etc etc etc!!! These are very special animals and need A LOT of care and attention. NOTHING like a normal dog! Do your research before saying where do I buy one or I want one!!! Many end up in shelters and then put to sleep due to careless people buying them and not knowing a damn thing about them.
how do i get one of those wolfdogs?? they are beautiful and i love wolves, it's not fair why you people only get these animals and make videos about them and never say to other people how to get them and how to take care of them
There's no reason to tame a wolf or a hybrid for that matter. They are smart animals and raising one would be like raising a dog that continues to be a puppy. (all that excess energy?) but he looks pretty chill for 6 months.
I plan on getting a hybrid in a few years but might have to settle for a fox because they're smaller. (though less "tame" than a hybrid)
...And before anyone gets their panties in a wad, I mean tame as in chill/mature, not tame as in circus animal.
Why are people so desperate to tame wolves? Did you see how quickly the shepherd obeyed the orders? The wolf hybrid was like, "Lol, no ." We already have enough dog breeds available we need to stop trying to control every living thing.
@siriuslylostwerewolf It's not a wolf. It's a hybrid. As in a wolf and a dog got it on and produced that. Nobody is 'desperate to tame wolves". People are desperate to wipe them from the planet.
@ItachiSanslover I know it's a wolf hybrid, it says it in the description. I even TYPED the words "wolf hybrid" in my comment. Did you actually read the whole comment or just the part you disagreed with?
@siriuslylostwerewolf My point was that the way to worded your comment was that of someone accusing people of trying to "tame" the wolf. I was pointing out that nobody was "desperate" to tame the wolf and that wolf hybrids ARE considered pet animals by most.
@bumble1020 Hmm well it depends on where you live, and I know a few people with them. I believe you just need to get them licensed and EVERYTHING! Plus you need to keep them in a kennel or fenced yard if they arent on a leash. I had a wolf/shepherd when I was growing up pure white gogeous, amazing animal.
You can train wolfdogs (the amount of wolf makes a big difference) but the time and effort (and the type of training) put into said training is much more intense and the outcome is not always as reliable as in dogs. #3. Depends on the amount of wolf in said animal. For higher contents, not necessarily. #4. Yes, big time. #5. Yes, many different things. Too much to write here! If you want more information visit my website linked on my channel page.
They are not true hybrids- they are the same species so wolfdog would be more accurate. They are not bred from wild wolves and a wolfdog cross is not only a cross between a pure wolf and pure dog. Most legitimate wolfdog crosses are bred from wolfdog to wolfdog breedings. All animals (even the pure wolves) are captive bred and raised for several generations. When you hear breeders saying they pulled pups from a wild den, they are lying thru their teeth.
@weykooey Having wolves or wolf hybrids as a pet alone is irresponsible cause they can turn on you regardless of how much training it has been given and then your pretty much fucked. 2nd You don't need a wildlife permit you need a "Exotic Wildlife Possession Permit" and inspection by the Commission is required to insure that minimum requirements for secure and humane housing conditions are met. This is a wolf cause wolf dogs aren't a breed.
It all boils down to responsible ownership. You can take a wolf's/wolfdogs body language at face value. When you hear stories of a wolfdog "suddenly turning" it is most often warning signs that were ignored or completely mis-interpreted. Most people can barely read a regular dog's body language, let alone a wolf or a higher content wolfdog that displays a much more complex and intense variety of body language and behaviors.
That is NOT a pure wolf, it is a wolfdog. However he does have a significant amount of wolf in him, giving those that are not familiar with different wolfdog contents/%'s and what traits to look for in said animals, the impression he is pure.
Indeed. Best to listen to someone that has been working with/raising these animals for several years. And no, wolfdogs are not a "breed" by standard, but they are not pure wolves. They are a mutt mix of a dog (usually a Husky or Mal) and a wolf. You can have low contents which display more dog-like characteristics, up to high contents, which are mostly wolf, but both are still wolfdogs. Like this animal here is a nice upper mid content.
I love the size difference despite the fact they are only a month apart. And @ protoolpat it says her dog is a hybrid meaning it's not full blood wolf. It just has a higher content or percentage of wolf in it then your brothers hybrid.
my brothers dog was half wolf half black lab! she did the same identical movements and actions as this full blooded wolf, this was like watching her again weird!
@KrisArts808 I think that's because the wolf hybrid is about a month older, which is alot in dog age. But yeah, I wish wolf hybrids were legal in more states, because they're amazing. It's a shame that a few dumbass owners make it hard for the responsible ones.
What are you talking about? Wolves/wolfdogs have much more complex body language and communication that some dogs (and most people) do not understand, which makes them "unpredicatable" in some people's eyes (try uneducated in wolf behavior and not prepared to deal with such an intense animal) but they are not just going to bully and attack a dog. These are both young animals- and while heirarchy exsists even at that age- it is clear there is no threat there.
I have two adult male wolfdogs and have fostered many others, both pup and adult. All but one have been bullied by my female border collie who have roughed and tumbled with the best of them- from mostly dog to almost pure wolf. She is very sensitive to their body language. Not all dogs can live with wolves/wolfdogs- but they are not what you seem to be making them out to be.
@wolfdogfostermom I agree. You get idiots like this person named "ChandraParker" who own a husky and tell everyone it's a wolf hybrid to try and up their own self esteem. And It's obvious they are lying because they get all bent out of shape and tell you off if you comment that their dog is not a wolf hybrid.
Tell me about it. I do a lot of educational work with what little free time I have, and it can be hell trying to educate some of these people. It's a hard approach, and no one wants to hear that they have been lied too by the breeder, but golly- some people are just so ignorant! I have been to many places educating people (not just on the net) and boy, you always meet that one person that says they have a wolf or hybrid and you see it and it's obviously a low-no content mix...
and they just flip when you try to explain to them otherwise! I met a guy in PetsMart the other day toting around a sable Alaskan Malamute (possibly a low content wolfdog). My first thought was OMG I haven't seen a malamute in ages- must go love on! And sure enough I told him what a beautiful Mal he had and he said he was 75% timber wolf/malamute mix. I talked to him the best I could and even showed him pictures of some of the wolfier animals I work with, but nope- he's a timber wolf.
Sorry I am rambling. It is nice to see someone else on YouTube that can tell the difference between a wolf and a dog. If you haven't already, check out my website (link on my channel page). I think you would appreciate it.
I really want a wolf hybrid and have been wanting one for a very long time, i just havnt been able to find one to buy. Can anyone help me out. I am looking for one near west virginia. It doesnt have to be located there.. so if anyone knows of a place near there to get one, please let me know. Thanks
Unfortunately it's not. While there are many states where they are illegal (about 14) there are many more that allow them.
And what I mean by unfortunately (considering I own them) is there are WAAAAY too many people that get these animals that have no idea how to handle them. Dealing with rescue, it's hard to see these animals go thru so much and often end up euthanized due to lack of experienced homes- all because someone wanted a "pet wolf".
Be careful. There are many animals here on Youtube that are being portrayed as "wolves" and mostly wolf animals that don't have any more wolf in them than the Poodle down the street. There are also countless unethical breeders that sell low-no content wolfy looking DOG mutts as high content and high % wolfdogs. The ownership of a real high content/pure wolf is not all fun and games. It is A LOT of work.
They are NOT like dogs and should never be treated or regarded as pets. They can be very rewarding companions, especially the lower content wolfdogs, but require MUCH more in the area's of proper, escape proof containment, intense, lifelong socialization and high quality (often raw meats) food- and that is only the beginning. If you are seriously still interested, I can direct you to a few reputable breeders.
I agree with others here - nice to see an actual wolfdog! Also nice to see one that is not being labelled as more wolf than they are - too many people have been told a higher % (or content, as I prefer it) than is true and they believe it.
I encourage all interested in wolfdogs to seek out some yahoo groups and ask about PHENOTYPING! ^_^
Hey, thats a gorgeus dog! I love German Shepherds but have decided not to get one only because of hip problems, though I love wolf dogs too! Can U please tell me what its mix is because id love a dog like that, that is domesticated but looks like a wolf! Thank u :D
Nice video. Have you seen the BBC documentary pedigree Dogs exposed. It talks about how pedigree breeders in England are literally breeding there dogs to death. English King charles spaniels have a diese where there brains get to large for the skull which causes brain damage and extreme pain and yet breeders still breed the dogs just because they win dog shows. The pain is so bad that even a light touch, a collar can cause massive amount of pain. they say 1/3 or more of the english dogs have it.
Nice video what mix is your wolf hybrid though. I have been trying to find a mix that still has most of the wolf look especially the face and fur length.
I would love to have a wolf hybred but I've heard they are too unstable especially with other dogs (unless they grow up with them) but I'm not sure if that's true. Any advice from anyone?
Those 2 are my favorite I love german shepherds and wolves I will get one of my own some day

You obviously don't know the difference.
Touting your animal as a Wolf is irresponsible as I'm certain you don't have a Wildlife permit.
You might want to get an education so your animals are properly cared for.
Anyone with any knowledge of Wolfdogs can see the Dog in him.

that's funny, I have 12, and in 20 years have never had 1 "turn on me".

Every state has different laws for Wolf / Dogs, however having a Wolf requires a permit. Call it whatever you like.

This vid reminds me of my real life story.
Long time ago I bought a wolf cub from hunters who killed his mother.
There were six cubs and I wanted to buy them all to release them back into the wild. I simply had no enough money except for one. I named him Lik.
He lived with german shepherd female (same age) until she died.
After 10 years I found a female wolf for him and released them together...
I needed more than 24 years to help his familly to survive.

@ElDoradoGoldenFlyer no it's not. it's illegal in certain states and counties.
iliveincoto 2 years ago

And don't forget RESCUE!!! There are MANY very good wolfdogs, both pups, adults and older animals that are in need of good, experienced homes!

@wolfdogfostermom You might be interested in Dingos, should check them out too. We had a dingo.

Great vid!

I love seeing someone else that knows what they are talking about! ^_^

well this vid has been up now for a while. I'm wondering if this Woofer is still alive? or still with this girl?
Most of them don't make it because people think they are easy to maintain and they aren't. They end up getting loose or destroying everything.
Would love to hear an honest update.

That's why mutts are smarter.

Nice video what mix is your wolf hybrid though. I have been trying to find a mix that still has most of the wolf look especially the face and fur length.

this and 2 other posters on Youtube have real Wolfdogs
akjennings & faddens,
most are all people with egos and not enough innitiative to learn the difference.
Wolfhuskypups or Pupsplus is the biggest scam going. She's a real idiot. None of the pups she shows are Wolf mixes.

I would love to have a wolf hybred but I've heard they are too unstable especially with other dogs (unless they grow up with them) but I'm not sure if that's true. Any advice from anyone?
