Great record-when this first came out in 68[?] it was yet another sensational new sound of the 60s- as usual the digital version sounds tinny and the "phasing"effect is far more impressive on the original single-mine is old and scratchy but its still nearer to the real thing
Alexander Young?? ...older brother of George Young from The Easybeats and Vanda & Young and also of Angus Young and Malcolm Young, lead and rhythm guitarists respectively for AC/DC ...what an awesome family!!
Grapefruit is the name of this outfit named by the L8 gr8 John Lennon well thats just awsome very progresive sound I think the reason they don,t make em this good anymore is obvios people need to stop watching american Idle and start sharing Gr8 bands like this on there u tube accounts .
i had this single (before someone ripped them all off out of my storage area in san jose years ago, thanks howard) and had heard it was george harrison on it...
Lullaby For A Lazy Day was produced by Lennon and McCartney. Grapefruit was signed as an act under the newly formed Apple Records. The faded away in 1969.
Holy Shmoly... I think I heard this song twice on the radio back in 1968...and haven't heard it again 'til now. As a matter of fact, I had no idea who even did it 'til a couple years ago, and was unable to track it down. You've solved a great mystery, THANKS!
Bass guitarist George Alexander (born Alexander Young), was a member of the talented Young family that also spawned his brothers George, the rhythm guitarist and founding member of The Easybeats and also Malcolm and Angus Young, both founding members of the Australian hard rock band, AC/DC.
@plep02 It's amazing to hear such good stuff from you guys. I still play music (well drums, actually) and remember our Grapefruit days with lots of nostalgia. Glad to hear that somebody likes it. Geoff S
@MrMattdenny . This is such a beautiful song Geoff. I remember when you and Pete were in the Sugarbeats and we used to go and see you up the Windmill hall, Upminster, Essex. what memories

When flanger comes to music. This is neat, I like it much - but has nothing to do with psychedelic.

I've always loved this. John Lennon gave the group its name. Some nice drum fills.
