  • JakeBasketball443, he's not dead

  • @thebookworm202 artistically, some say he's dead

  • I don't even consider this Weezer and the now weezer the same bands.

  • R.I.P. Rivers Cuomo.

  • this song makes me weep

  • I love Matt sharp!

  • @JohnnyOutlaw100 he's the reason their first 2 records were so incredible...I think Rivers had a lot of help from Mr. Sharp in making every one of those songs as powerful and memorable as they have become. : )

  • My god...this is such an amazing jam!

  • I guess I'll be the first to officially like this video lmao... ;) this is great.... thanks for sharing! :-)

  • actually im glad this doesnt have much views....only those who really know what music is and was should see. The rawness and play by heart is definitely a rarity now a days. Glad i lived the golden age of grunge and garage rock of the 90s. Im glad it has the vintage feel and look, brings back memories....forever memories

  • Rivers looks like Elliot from E.T.

    lololol

  • rip mikey welch :-/

  • This song gave me a reason to live.

  • @buckybazoo Me too. High five?

  • I'm pretty sure that is Jason Cropper on the left there and not Brian Bell, since he joined in 1994. And I'm pretty sure he's using that white Fender Tele he had in the picture of the Blue album studio guitars from Weezerpedia. That's Rivers red Strat before he built the blue one that he's famous for. Anyways, this is just for the gearheads out there like myself. Never have seen a video with Jason actually playing, sounds pretty great.

  • @ia5662 Nah i don't think it is Brain Bell either.. It doesn't look like him and he's not playing the same style as Brian would...

  • Does anyone have a tab of the solo? It's sublime and so much better than the album version.

  • Okay, I'm going to get raped for this, but this song is actually better than Stairway To Heaven in my opinion. I better go hide somewhere...

  • I FREAKING LOVE WEEZER MAN. NO OTHER

  • this is like weezers version of stairway to heaven :)

  • matt sharp!

  • mmmmh cant decide if i like weezer or not. like, my FAVOURITE SONG OF ALL TIME and all bands in the whole world is "greatest man taht ever lived" .. but the rest of weezers songs are kinda crap tbh.... weird, werid..

  • @LizzWessi

    wow, really?

...lol, what the fuck is wrong with you?

  • @LizzWessi

This is music at its prime. If you're going to trash it, get a third grade level education so you can spell "weird" and "that."

  • @FunkySkunk55 whoa okay hold on, am i not allowed to have my own opinion anymore?! first of all, i commented on this vid a whole month ago and since that i learned to love all their songs. secondly im pretty damn sure that you make some mistakes too sometimes, dont we all? im fucking sorry if it bothers you that i spelt two words wrong. plus i didnt tell YOU not to like it. i just shared my opinion on this without wanting anyone else to feel upset about it in any kind of way. kthxbye <3

  • maybe you coulda left the begging on for more than .3 of a second couldnt even read what it said nyc ???

  • @XGRIMYONEX

    pause button?

  • Awesome

  • its fucking crazy in the end you only hear the base fading after all the ccrazyness going on

  • listening to this for the first time in a while....... so so so so so so amazing.

  • Awesome song. So many surprises.

  • This song sounds so amazing live. its like the vibration of the music goes through your body and touches your soul.....wow that sounds so corny. thank god no one knows who I am.

  • @Jazzy25 I am your cousin, ernie.....

  • @JakeBasketball443 Hi, Cousin Ernie....How did you find me?

  • @Jazzy25 With a little bit of jack daniels, and some ex.

  • Sex

  • I FUCKIN CLIMAXED AT THE CLIMAX.....

THEN AGAIN AFTER THE SONG ENDED

  • most underrated song of weezer? yeah iight! this is #8 in top 20 greatest guitar track of ALL TIME!

  • this IS really good. my god...its fucking beautiful.

  • Eargasm much..the song climaxes as do I.. So good

  • Rivers has said that this song isn't about a girl at all. It's about his creative ideas, which is kind of sad, because I listened to this song for years thinking about a certain girl. That's still what it means to me though,

  • @ANVILCLOUDNM I don't know what interview that was from, but it is about a girl.

  • @zppbonzo well to you and me and all the listeners its about love, but Rivers, the man who wrote it, has said clearly that only in dreams is not about a girl, it's about his creative process.

  • @ANVILCLOUDNM I meant that I've heard Rivers talk about it being about a girl.

  • @zppbonzo Well I've ONLY ever heard him say it wasn't. find proof where he talks about it being about a girl. I've also heard him say Only In Dreams was "GAY GAY GAY DISNEY GAY"

  • @louvressac

you name it! unforgettable dou of tim+charls

  • @louvressac :O lies u ass monkey

  • when i heard this song i became a fan. when i heard pinkerton i became obsessed.

fuck anything they have done 2000 til now. this is the good stuff.

  • @AnonHateMachine red album was pretty good you have to admit

  • @AnonHateMachine dude maladroit, death to false metal?

  • I was 12 when I first heard this song. I still have it on my iPod blows my mind and want to cry especially after 05:12

  • Rivers has stated that he absolutely hates Pinkerton because everyone compares their recent music to that album. I really don't understand why people say they suck now because they don't sound like they did back then. Every artist needs to grow, deal with it!

  • @hoobadoobler Very untrue. Every artist has the CHOICE to grow to different types of music. They don't NEED too. Weezer wanted too, and it turned out to be a mess of horrible sounding music. (imo)

  • 17 people fuck off

  • @dnztrg agreed. They need to fuck off for sure. ONE OF THE BEST SONGS e v e r .

Don't fuck with ROCK&ROLL DEMIGODS you bitchy trolls!

LISTENING to this stuff makes my teen angst come back, as if it went anywhere. I love it.

  • Anyone who has loved a girl they knew they could never have knows what this song is all about.

  • This solo is equal to stairway to heaven. Thats right bitches

  • @MyAssStings way better man

  • @MyAssStings

    kill yourself

  • @FlavoredDeath haha

  • @MyAssStings I totally agree i cant believe this dosent have more views! this is a epic rehersal!

  • @MyAssStings Fuck yeah

  • @MyAssStings screw that song. this song is way betteer than stairway

  • This proves that Rivers Cuomo is a songwriting genius...

He just has had a case of writers block for 10 years :(

But even with their recent albums lagging behind the first two I still love Weezer

  • @BEARDofZEUS9000 I think hurley had some classic weezer stuff, I really liked it.

  • son of a bitch this song is good!!

  • this is up there w bohemian rhapsody, stairway and any other legendary rock epic 6-8 minuters..

  • @djkikis I wouldn't say its up there with Boh Rhap at all, that song is so musically complex I don't think anything will ever beat it. Only In Dreams is a pretty damn simple song.

That being said, it's one of my favorites, and most heart wrenching.

  • ...wow I'm just now finding this video

    amazing

  • aahh the 90s feeling

  • FriKIN amazing song i loved it since day one and still do....the only thing im curius about is why is there a carcommercial in the backround of the video? im surly not the only one wondering this ;)

  • Goosebumps :D

  • This is the Weezer that I miss, a shitty camera and an amazing song.

  • Comment removed

  • weezer has broken my heart in so many ways. this song nearly brought me to tears the first time i heard it. it's a freakin masterpiece. and pinkerton is almost as good as this album. their music from the mid 90s touched my soul. in ways that no other music from that time period every came close to doing. and now ...now they are ..well..pop superstar sensations and the music went downhill. i don't get it...i just don't get it.

  • @erikadoss it's alright, nobody does :(

and i know exactly what ya mean, this song is just amazing and has this feeling attached to it that you can't really explain. listening to this song at night while driving around downtown = best feeling ever :)

  • @erikadoss the red album was great, and so is death to false metal

  • @erikadoss i really have to agree i dont know how some bands in 90s were amazing and then in todays age they suck along with everyone else i dont get it its like noone can create good music anymore cuz the vibes from the 90s r just missing

  • @jnon1533 That`s what people said about music in the 90s, it lacked to 80s feel.

  • Ya they played like this at the Blue Album show at Gibson Ampitheater...they ended the Blue set with Only in Dreams with a similair jam sesh!

  • "you can't avoid her, she's in the air." <3 WEEZER <3

  • Jam session for sure!

  • what the fuck happened to this weezer?

  • =W= FOREVERRRR

  • <3yessssssh

  • BEST SONG EVER...REALLY...WEEZER FOREVER!!!!

  • totally fucking epic that is all thank you for reading *Thumbs Up*

  • @haus05 haha that's funny.

  • blue and green album rocked worlds. only in dreams, hash pipe, undone, say it aint so, my name is jonas, in the garage, and several others were all awesome! nowadays, they have wat? everybody get dangerous. its alright.

  • Thinking about the good ol' days when I zoned out on grass while dreaming about clouds of Weezerness.

  • if they had ended this like they did on blue album... but retained that whole solo part.... oh dear lord how this is fantastic

  • Holy God. How I love this.

  • yES IT IS DERFINITELY THEIR BEST SONG EVER. ON OF MY VERY FAVORITES.

  • seriously my favorite weezer song and like top 3 favorite songs in general, they just dont make em like this anymore. i dont know what happened to weezer but its just sad that they are like mainstream pop now

  • the......solo....is.......beyond........amazing

  • 8th grade, beers, skating and bumpin weezer on the old school discman

  • @rayfuqua This is the generation I wish I was born to.... Not the crap pop music today.

  • "she is your marrow and your ride home" genius line...

  • COOL COOL COOLIO COOL BAND COOL VIDEO COOL SONG!!

  • What a comeback!! 4:40

  • I love this song, amazing build up.

  • jason cropper?

  • @jdugmar yep right before he was replaced.

  • go back to the old weezer, where rivers put a hood on instead of a snuggie

  • pretty damn close to perfect

  • I remember listening to this song the first time... i thought it ended, then Weezer completely BLEW MY MIND.

    =w= for life.

  • @DarkKitten878 I'm 2 minutes in and I'm waiting for the mind-blow. :)

  • @DarkKitten878 Mind sufficiently blown. You must see them in concert, if you haven't already!

  • omg is that jason cropper!?!?!?!

  • @jackasss182 brain bell lol

  • @singaporiancrimelord that is jason cropper

  • Why is this so good, and new Weezer so not

  • @PandamoniumNJ i wish weezer made more songs like this.

  • this is the best song ever

  • fuck you 13 people this is the best song of all time

  • @marioruiz15 this is a very good song but the best song of all time is echoes by pink floyd :)

  • @Gabacho2 The best song of all time is not by Pink Floyd. FYI lol

  • @jetershomie best song ever is echoes by floyd, however weezer is great, and if this song is #1 for you I support you!

  • @marioruiz15 its a good song, but it definitely is not one of the greatest of all time. you can't forget about stairway to heaven and bohemian rhapsody.

  • @smpfox sorry but neither of those have as much emotion as this song

  • @lickapotato different strokes, different folks. I love this song but think Bohemian is more "emotional," whatever that means, at least for me. It's all personal.

  • i would pay money just to watch weezer sound-checks..

  • Wow Rivers is great! The ending is awesome

  • rivers makes a great nome O.o

  • why did matt have to leave ;_;

  • @gomerA7X That was THE turning point IMO.

  • shit, i miss old weezer :(

  • Wow.

  • Wow, weezer "fans" are really harsh on the band, they all hate everything after blue and pinkerton, BS.

They have the same sound, maybe a bit different on make believe, but basically the haven't changed that much. Raditude has some not so cool lyrics, as in can't stop partying, I miss the old weird or loser dude songs, but we still got Underdogs though

  • @MehdiGlz Raditude is absolute crap. I'm sorry but thats all it is. They sold out and just became another crappy pop band who go overboard on the synth and studio engeneiring.

  • @doomey22a

or a lack of going overboard with studio engineering... blue and pinkerton have some of the best tones ive heard in my life. plop those down on vinyl dude.

the new albums are over produced

  • @doomey22a Wow, WOW. PLEASE give me an example of a "crappy pop band" out there that sounds like Weezer does now. And what are you talking about, overboard on the synth? Did you...listen to Raditude? It's crunchy guitar all over. PLEASE listen to "Let it All Hang Out".

Weezer got really big, and with that success came a huge lifestyle change, and with that change came big changes in the music. It's what you have to expect. Rivers is clearly the man- let him do what he wants.

  • @Qriztofer There's a difference between plastic "crunchu" guitar and actual good well thought out and skillfully played guitar. And yes I did listen to Raditude; other than one or two songs its crap compared to the good classic stuff. When I say "over board with synth" I mean turd burger songs like "Can't stop partying". I mean, that song sounds like it should have been sung by Kei$ha! Rivers is good yes, but he s sold out his old fans and his sound

  • @doomey22a "Turd burger songS". You gave me one example (that isn't a very good one, if we're talking about "synth". Hate Make Believe if you hate "synth", though I love that album). You clearly don't see the tongue-in-cheek of "Can't Stop Partying".

Ugh. The guitar on Raditude is the same we've been getting from them since Green (in terms of TONE. "Crunch" is DESIRABLE for a band like Weezer), which is when they started recording in a decent studio. Ric Ocasek produced both.

  • @Qriztofer Sorry that should have said "crunchy"

  • @Qriztofer If you listen to Alone or Alone II you'll realize that what Rivers does/wants to do isn't always quite what you can find on Raditude...

  • @Aadam711 I can't believe this. Do you know where those songs actually come from? Half of Alone he wrote before the Blue Album, a few are from SftBH (I'll assume you know what that is), and almost all the rest are just songs that didn't end up on other Weezer albums. And three songs on Alone II were later released on Raditude! Basically, those albums are like...the best of Weezer b-sides.

    Dude. Fail.

  • @Qriztofer My Brain Is Working Overtime, Chess, or Lover in the snow for example have nothing to do with the "super fun party jam" thing... that's what i meant.

  • @Aadam711 The "super fun party jam" thing I assume you're referring to is "Can't Stop Partying". Besides the fact that you're missing the point of that song (it's pretty elementary, and incorrect, to take it for face value), the rest of Raditude is also not about the "super fun party jam" thing! Unless you want to extend that to like..."Let it All Hang Out", but that song rules.

  • @MehdiGlz They do NOT have the same sound... Rivers doesn't even sound the same!

  • This is my favorite weezer song. I just did a piano cover of this song including the ending, it sounds nice on piano.

  • I think someone got their Pixies songs mixed up. This sounds nothing like Gigantic. It sounds eerily similar to "I Bleed." But regardless, this is probably my favorite Weezer song ever.

  • Es una obra maestra... ! no hay mejores palabras para describir esta cancion.

  • such a good song. most underrated song of the 90s right here

  • I love absolutely everything about this song- the intro, the chorus, and the outro."Only in Dreams" is by far my favorite weezer song. I still get shivers down my spine when I hear it today.

  • its... so... beautiful...

  • what astonishes me is how Weezer came up with such an epic song (possibly their best song) so early on in the life of the band. I know Rivers had been playing music for a long time, but still ...

  • Love this song. By far my favorite weezer song.

  • beautiful song

  • what new Weezer album?

  • weezer fan 4 life....

  • I like how they aren't jumping around the stage...

  • 1. Only In Dreams

    2. Walt Disney

    3. Thief You've Taken All That Was Me

    4.I Need Some Touch

    5.Tired Of Sex

    6. Waiting On You

    7. Haunt You Everyday

    8. In The Garage

9, The World Has Turned And Left Me Here

10.Everybody Wants A Chance To Be All Alone

  • woo pixies in Aust 2010 ! i have TICKETS! (this does not sound liek gigantic :P ) then trip to USA to see WEEZER for the first time live!!!

    Best - Band - Ever

  • this song sounds like it borrowed a LOT from "Gigantic" by the Pixies.

Not that I blame Weezer, Pixies are amazing.

  • I thought the EXACT same thing

  • This song sounds NOTHING like Gigantic. If it sounded like Gigantic, the song would be shit. However, the song is good, so it borrowed little from Gigantic.

Now let's all be thankful it didn't borrow anything from Ana :P

  • @Beedlebub gigantic is a great song. not saying this songs a rip off at all but rivers was definitely influenced by the pixies. you should give them a chance their really good.

  • @carbooey : It was cited that Rivers did admit that in the early 90's he was listening to and was influenced by "cool" innovative bands, at the time, like the Pixies. If any song sounds like "Gigantic", it would have to be the weezer song "The World Has Turned and Left Me Here". One could argue that the bassline from "Only in Dreams" may have been heavily influenced by the Pixies' "Gigantic", but I don't think it sounds like they copied Kim Deal's exact bassline.

  • @rowidz the Tired of Sex bassline uses the exact notes as Gigantic

  • @IcyScythe : I didn't hear anything similar at all! The bass coming in first yeah, but that's it. The intros were nowhere near the same, and the distinguishable part of this song is the intro. The lyrics aren't even similar.

  • Not sure about that. They're both similar in both songs are structured around a relatively simple yet brilliant baseline. Melody, chorus, song layout, etc are hugely different.

  • amazing vid!!! weezer rocks

  • @HockeyFighter852 eh... this was a bit before the "emo" stage was "cool"

  • @RustyPancake125

the only part of that song that sounds even slightly similar to that is the bass line, and even that is pushing it

  • shh, no logic allowed on here!

  • such a good song..
