Depende de para que, si venis por el Tango, hay lugares mucho menos comerciales, donde se baila y escucha Tango genuino, si venis por otros temas culturales tambien, hay hermosos museos, teatros etc y no estan ahi, si queres gastronomia lo mismo, en la calle Florida no vas a encontrar lo mejor, cualquier cosa mandame un privado y te cuento.
You might be right.. its not like it used to be.. Besides, most of the tourists go there to shop, and this is a big mistake, because in Florida is much more expensive than other places... The pro, is that its all together, you dont have to look anywhere else.

Go to san telmo, and parts of recoleta. those places are beautiful and i recomend you see the cemetary of recoleta. Overall argentines are atually pigs and the assholes of the world.
my dad is from Argentina and im helping him move back to the country, but yes i have been to a walmart in the states. But the last sentence is just what i think, many other people from other countries in latin america resent the argentines along with the argentines not liking any of them in return. I was robbed in Buenos Aires, Tje very first minute I set foot in the Airport. The lady at the foreign currency exchange gave me 200 peros of fake money. That was my initial welcome. But I enjoyed the stay none the less
sorry to hear that man. it's easier than ever these days to just withdraw money from an ATM. You'll get a good exchange rate and many banks don't charge any fees for the transfer other than standard ATM fees if it's not your bank.

An ugly, dirty south american city. I've been to enough of them to know that I have no interest in visiting, and probably being robbed in, Buenos Aires. It looks like a dystopia to me.
If you dislike Buenos Aires that much, then why are you watching this video? I was in Buenos Aires for a few days this spring and liked it very much. Also I did not get robbed. Hope to return to Buenos Aires some day again.
You would only get robbed if you go into like most cities a bad neighborhood, Im sure Buenos Aires has nice districts were you can shop, eat a cafe, and socialize and where police are abudant

i had my backpack open and had a few run after me to tell me to close it, how cute, but i wasn't robbed, but i tried to look non-touristy, and even blended in as argentinian, you just gotta look unimpressed by everything, then you've nailed the look!
Calle Florida also has the best ever hot dogs I've tried anywhere in the world sold at El Gringo, everytime I go back I have an 'Uruguayo', 'Italiano' and a 'Mexicano' style hot doggs there for just equivelent of 20 pence each, Floridas great for quick tasty food whilst dashing around the Mico Centro area, they do some amazing Shwarma Kebabs on Lavalle aswell.
I'm glad you mentioned the Shwarma Kebabs! I didn't have any and only saw them as we were leaving from dinner. We stopped and noticed that it was the VERY authentic variety. There is a sizeable Greek community where I live but I have not had these real ones!
Yes they're amazing and they have that authentic sauce (forget name where it's yogurt, sesame oil and a few light spices and mint mixed together). I prefer the ones in Argentina though because the beef there is so cheap and such good quality, along with the lamb, chicken, they have top quality pampas lean sirloin beef steak slices rotating on the grill that they slice off and put in an amazing Shwarma rap for the less then 1 us dollar, yum. Best kbabs I've ever had now that I think of it.
Hey good vid of calle Florida, those steak and grilled meats looks delicious. Just one thing though, that sign next to the massive 'Iglecia Electronica' (electronic church for the lowest denominator) was indeed a swing club, there's a quite a few around that area. Ahh you gota love calle florida, the only place where you'll find a 24 hour neon lit church and a swinger clubs right next to other.

Was there this year in their winter...mucho frio as they would say. Florida is great but exhausting to walk, constantly dodging people, avoiding dudes trying to get you to see "las chicas" and other ppl who flick their flyers in your face. Oh, and its porno city at the newstands, I had to tell off a guy who had in clear site a dvd cover of a woman performing oral sex, but he covered after I told him off, "para los ninos" I said in my broken spanish. The street performers are great though.

In BA, I spent most of the time walking between the Obliseque (sp?) and the water front. Granted these were some of he nicer / tourist-y parts of BA.
What I liked about Florida Street is that a lot of locals went there too. What season will you visit? I've only been during Spring and Fall. Not summer nor winter.
We went there in December which was really hot,but it's a diffrent world and the Christmas holiday's are wonderful. Have you tried their ice cream called "Smash"? Oh man! The Kiosko should sell it. The cheese and dairy are out of this world!! Mi encanta Argentina!!
My Parents are from there,but my mother and I went in 95'. We were there for 2 months and I loved it ! I would go with someone who knows the language ( I don't know if you went there before). As u know, we are getting out from a hard economic crisis since 6 years ago, and a few things have changed (the prices for example), thats why u could get interesting things relatively cheap and thats showy for the tourists, thanks again and like i said, u re welcome (British ppl too of course, but will be better if they go back to england after the trip :P)

sorry to hear that man. it's easier than ever these days to just withdraw money from an ATM. You'll get a good exchange rate and many banks don't charge any fees for the transfer other than standard ATM fees if it's not your bank.

Calle Florida also has the best ever hot dogs I've tried anywhere in the world sold at El Gringo, everytime I go back I have an 'Uruguayo', 'Italiano' and a 'Mexicano' style hot doggs there for just equivelent of 20 pence each, Floridas great for quick tasty food whilst dashing around the Mico Centro area, they do some amazing Shwarma Kebabs on Lavalle aswell.

I'm glad you mentioned the Shwarma Kebabs! I didn't have any and only saw them as we were leaving from dinner. We stopped and noticed that it was the VERY authentic variety. There is a sizeable Greek community where I live but I have not had these real ones!

Yes they're amazing and they have that authentic sauce (forget name where it's yogurt, sesame oil and a few light spices and mint mixed together). I prefer the ones in Argentina though because the beef there is so cheap and such good quality, along with the lamb, chicken, they have top quality pampas lean sirloin beef steak slices rotating on the grill that they slice off and put in an amazing Shwarma rap for the less then 1 us dollar, yum. Best kbabs I've ever had now that I think of it.

Hey good vid of calle Florida, those steak and grilled meats looks delicious. Just one thing though, that sign next to the massive 'Iglecia Electronica' (electronic church for the lowest denominator) was indeed a swing club, there's a quite a few around that area. Ahh you gota love calle florida, the only place where you'll find a 24 hour neon lit church and a swinger clubs right next to other.

Was there this year in their winter...mucho frio as they would say. Florida is great but exhausting to walk, constantly dodging people, avoiding dudes trying to get you to see "las chicas" and other ppl who flick their flyers in your face. Oh, and its porno city at the newstands, I had to tell off a guy who had in clear site a dvd cover of a woman performing oral sex, but he covered after I told him off, "para los ninos" I said in my broken spanish. The street performers are great though.

Thanks for this. Great video. I'm thinking of visiting BA soon and your vid seems to show there's a good atmosphere around the place. I feel for the Argentine people so much. They've suffered under brutal dictatorships, corrupt governments and endless economic crises. Did you find the locals welcoming?

Thanks for the comments. The people are fantastic and friendly. They tried hard to understand my english and very poor spanish.
In BA, I spent most of the time walking between the Obliseque (sp?) and the water front. Granted these were some of he nicer / tourist-y parts of BA.
What I liked about Florida Street is that a lot of locals went there too. What season will you visit? I've only been during Spring and Fall. Not summer nor winter.

We went there in December which was really hot,but it's a diffrent world and the Christmas holiday's are wonderful. Have you tried their ice cream called "Smash"? Oh man! The Kiosko should sell it. The cheese and dairy are out of this world!! Mi encanta Argentina!!

My Parents are from there,but my mother and I went in 95'. We were there for 2 months and I loved it ! I would go with someone who knows the language ( I don't know if you went there before). Please don't wear any gold or anything that is valuable. People in general are nice ,but not to nice. Go and visit Lohan. Good Luck

well, i wanna thanks to u coz like Argentinean i am glad to see ur trip, all the tourist will be always welcome here. As u know, we are getting out from a hard economic crisis since 6 years ago, and a few things have changed (the prices for example), thats why u could get interesting things relatively cheap and thats showy for the tourists, thanks again and like i said, u re welcome (British ppl too of course, but will be better if they go back to england after the trip :P)

I don't see much of a change. Argentines are resistant to change, we like things to keep for as long as possible, at least the good things!
I must say you've captured the spirit of the "Bonaerense' in your video.
By the way, I remember buying pirated PC software in stores open to the public. Heck if you would buy a PC they'd ask, do you want the original DOS disks or will a copy of the software be OK? LOL
