The problem with John Barrowman is that he just plays himself. And that's the problem with his Joe. His Joe is too... gay sounding? He needs to be harsh, crass, and demanding. All this performance tells me is that he's just being John Barrowman asking for sex on Sunset Boulevard.

Pity, he is truly a nice guy, and he does have a good voice. But, when it comes to certain musicals, he should stay away. I like him when he sings Cole Porter's solo stuff.

I didn't see the musical, but I'm a great fan of Billy Wilder's "Sunset Blvd", and to me, Barrowman's Joe sounds very much alike the image that was created in the movie.

I personally don't think that he should be harsh and crass. He's got a lot of bitter sarcasm and is very self-despising, and I guess that's what he needs.

Well I have to say that Michael Ball is a better vocalist than JB, but that doesn't mean this isn't good. He does really well, and he is far better at singing then Hugh Jackman, sure he is attractive and can act, but the singing for a musical is the most important. So JB wins for me because he has a good voice, and hes attractive.
