  • fix your distributor

  • what tranny are you useing? i ask because im putting a 4.3 chevy v6 in my delorean.

  • Nice. Definitely a step in the right direction. Running at all with a strong motor isn't a bad way for it to be, bet all sorted out that'd be fun.

    What's become of it?

  • Is it a bad idea to install an engine that actually works ???

  • ''ONE POINT 21 JIGGAWATTS'' bet that bitch'l run faster than 88 miles per hour!

  • Everything mjolnir is saying is absolutely correct. And this statement is coming from an actual owner.

  • Runs better then the stock POS french V6 it came with...still has a LOT more work to do before I'd call it "done" I'd at least do fuel injection and better heads/intake.

  • You people are idiots. Deloreans are not "priceless," and quite honestly they were pretty crappy cars when they came out. They were lucky if they made 130 HP and went 0-60 in 10.5 seconds; in the films they had to overdub the pathetic V6 engine noise with that of a V8. Real deloreans were VERY underpowered and putting a V8 in it is actually giving it the treatment it deserves. These aren't ferraris; they are only famous because of films in which their true engine noise was covered up.

  • All the comments on here are amusing. You have no idea where this came from or what it looked like before. Go "deck out" your 1991 Accords and Civics. Or is that not cool anymore? Oh wait it never was to anyone except you! lol

  • Good luck getting to 88 mph

  • rear or front mounted motor?

  • @burncy They're always rear.

  • dude either learn how to be a worth-a-shit mechanic or find someone that is because you ruined a perfectly good car by only half knowing what the hell to do

  • a GM 350ci v8 motor would have been better but nice car

  • way to fuck up a great car....and ur rev'ing it like it sounds good...sounds like shit, runs like shit, looks amazing. at least that's one thing you didnt fuck up...you left the body alone.

  • Where we're going we don't need roads......or mufflers

  • You guys want to know how to ruin a DeLorean?

This video will teach you how!

  • stupid redneck tweakers.

  • These idiots just cant let us have anything. First, the description clearly states that it was made before bugs were worked out. Second, its not a priceless car. I runs $40,000 to $50,000 for a NOS built car and a little less used. Have a little imagination ya pricks! Besides, its not the value of the car, its the passion you put in it that counts.

  • "Where We're Going We Don't Need Oil" xD

  • It's crying for help.

  • Can we get an update to this video please?

  • Runs about as good as the original Volvo engine in there... lol :) Musta been some work getting that in there, though. Congrats!

  • Hey a Chrysler 318 V8 would be a great engine for this car. If some people are worried about weight distribution, then load up the front with something heavy! lol.

  • Way to go retard, you fucked up your priceless DeLorean with your redneck KKK truck's discarded motor lol. That poor car is prolly sayin' "please kill me" because of that crap you jammed in it. If I had a car like that, i would cherish it and not change anything lol

  • A tuned and built GM LS motor would be awesome in this...I plan to do that if I can get a Delorean sometime in my life.

  • Motor is so steady like the one in the Movie - you would be happy if it runs ^^

  • either the engine in that thing is a pile of crap or that guy needs to learn how to drive a FKING manual

  • You fucked it up.

  • You turned it in to a Mustang! Way to fuck it up, runs like one too.

  • runs like shit

  • it is a destruction of such a great car, so rare car that has been converted to v8 is so wrong.

  • @SondreChrister No no. For me a Supercharged V8 belongs in a delorean. One that sounds just like the BTTF cars sound over. That supercharger whine of the delorean is publicly synonymous with the car. The biggest problem with the deorlean is that anti-climax Renault engine in both sound and performance.

  • sounds like a little too much power, i think the stock engine was fine

  • dreams have finally been answered, you could have done it but you didnt, I present the worlds first 2jz delorean!!!!!!

no links here, search photo bucket for user crazyedfsu, hes got video there too!

  • So how about a clip of it finished?

  • ? Umm..You pissed away a $40,000...

  • nice ride

you might need a tune up and a new starter also new sparkplugs would not hurt

  • i wonder if he knows his doors are open O_O

  • now try to get it out of the driveway without starting it again and again

  • LEARN TO TUNE UP AN ENGINE. Other than not running strong, sounds like shit as well. I mean if you are gonna make a video where at the end you mention the 302 like you are proud of it, then at least have it running right. LOL

  • Why would anyone put Ford trash in a DeLorean? I'd rather push my DeLorean than put anything from Ford in it.

  • lol u fucked up that car badly.

An DeLorian with an V8 engine?are you serious? -.-

  • Considering that John Delorean worked at GM, if you were to put a v8 in it you should have went with a GM v8 rather than a ford. Its just silly..

  • i think you need some plutonium

  • PLease donate that car to the DeLorean Motor Company so it can have a chance to be rehabilitated.

  • Well it starts just like a Ford.

  • @bjmicha3 My ford's sure doesn't start like that, just takes a flick of the key for any of mine.

  • Here in Germany some guys installed ALFA ROMEO V6 3,0 from Alfa GTV6 sounds wonderfull and its an all alloy engine just like the PRV but better performance and very high quality too.

  • it'll be way cooler once you've work out all the kinks... but its a ford small block so thats basically impossible...

  • All you need is a flux capacitor and itll be fixed :)

  • yea that car is fucked should have stuck to the v-6 the people like the car for thier iconic look not the power

  • da!!!!!doy!!!

  • Fucking inbread Hillbillies!!!! Why couldn't you stick to just puiting V8's in Chevettes or Pinto's. It also sounds like shit!

  • @socalmkiller Agreed on the motor...cause its still a Ford!

@KingWing777...not if the 302...is a junked up Ford.

  • I hope you plan to put a different exhaust on it to get rid of that raspy sound and crooked pipes... Once that's done it'll be really cool.

  • ruined a nice car

  • v8 in that car, yah go ahead and mess up the weight balancing when you could get a 2jz that weighs less, keeps the original 3.0L displacement, sounds better, more reliable, and will walk circles all over a built 302 if you build the 2jz with the same money. Welcome to America, what others think sound good and is fast the rest of the world rightfully considers uneducated redneck. For the record ignorance probably plays a huge part, and japanese engineering is ignored even if it is superior

  • @ihateu1979 I agree that he shoulda used the supra motor in that car BUT i dont agree with it walking circles over a built 302.

  • @KingWing777 Don't think I've ever seen a 302 get close to 2041 HP like this 2jz

    youtube.com/watch?v=0Ta6hXZkKIw

  • Just like the Back to the Future Car...lol it never starts and is always breaking

  • now it sounds bit like BTTF one :)

  • @magirktheone not at all dude. He killed it.

  • @noobasdfjkl i mean BTTF time machine had V8 sound - that's all

  • i lik wat you did. ohh and just because the moter stalls a time or two does not me theres a problem, it is probably carborated and the moter is still cold, my silverado does the same thang.

  • Comment removed

  • i like the ideal of a v8 delorean.... just put a working engine in the damn thing!!

  • i would not want to race that thing

  • thats a piece of shit.. doors dont even stay open

  • dude ford fucked up this car big time.

  • Ruined a classic.

  • at the very least you could have chopped off the exhaust flush with the bumper and made a small effort to center it!!! What a shame.

  • It's fucking up exactly like in the movie!

  • @Pinesol131 LOL, epic

  • 426 hemi is more like it son! heck with ford!

  • are the time circuits alright? lol hemi would be better

  • 302? isn`t gravity center too far aft??

  • hahahaha typical ford piece of shit engine keeps cuttin out :P. Should have popped a chevy or a hemi into the delorean :/

  • Its out of plutonium!!!

  • Bring this car to DeLorean Car show in Lexington this weekend!!

  • Comment removed

  • Are you from PA?

  • poor car screaming for help :( u fucked up that car :( ...

  • @rolibiker Bawhahahahahaha... He sure did!!! Im still laughing at your comment!! too funny!! hahahaha

  • @rolibiker a V8 in an otherwise pussified powerplant. Fucked it up by suping it up ? Yeah that makes sense.

  • @rolibiker Put an LS1 motor with 6speed in it..

  • @1thesiscokid84 where would you find a 6 speed

  • @rolibiker dude youre totally right, the 130 hp V6 was so much better than that stupid V8. a mid engine car doing 0-60 in 8 seconds+, thats what I'm talkin' about baby!!!

  • @rolibiker You know that most ppl know it from Back to the future, in where it has a v8... the PRV V6 engine is pretty shit overall anyways

  • looks like a beat up bird

  • sounds like a 302... LMAO!!!

  • sound awful

  • Hey this is pretty neat, I've always wanted a DeLorean, one with a V8 would definately be better. Can you make a video of the car with the hood (trunk) up so we can see how it looks? I'd appreciate it. Thanx

  • havin trouble starting it? thats probably cause you put a ford p.o.s in it. word of advice . . .get a chevy

  • @blaze2fury mopar or no car!

  • THATS SO STUPID

  • Didn't the Delorean have a Volvo engine which is owned by ford so it would make sense to put a ford engine in it.

  • Should have no problem getting to 88, now! :)

  • nice...guessing from what say i see its a ford..love the 5.0

  • greatscott

  • How did you fit a v8 in there? Must've been a tight fit.

  • NICE! Im so glad yall didnt stick a freakin chevy engine in it. They are in EVERYTHING it makes me sick. Im a Dodge guy at haert but hate a chevy and love me a delorean.

  • @318Captain thats the same way i always feel.

  • thats a fail....chevy didnt have a 302...they had the 305 and the 307 if i remember right...and Im a dodge guy...who likes the occasional ford.

  • @318Captain chevy did have a 302 it put out more than a 350 did had a really high RPM range for the power band

  • ok then...guess I learned something new today. :)

  • @318Captain indeed i didnt belive it either but u have to do some research it wasnt a verry common motor

  • @DRNEGOLICIS Well, Chevy didn't have a 302. They had a 5.0 liter, which is actually 305 c.i.d. Ford rounded their 302 up; it was actually 4.94 liters er something.

    The 305 put out 160 bhp and 235 ft/lb torque @ 4300 rpm.

    The 350 put out 175 bhp and 275 ft/lb torque @ 4500 rpm.

  • @batman9419 chevy did have a 302 it had just as much power as a 350 actualy had a bit more depending on witch 350 u compair it to being their are 6 different kinds chevy produced a 262V8 a 283V8 and a 302V8 a 305V8 a 350V8, 351V8,366V8,396V8,400V8,401V8, 427V8, 454V8, 471V8 and a 637V8

  • @DRNEGOLICIS When I compared it to the "350", I was comparing it to the 350. Not all the other engines that were made from the same block. The engines you listed are not 350's. Actually, the only one you mentioned that's a 350 is the 350.

btw, you might want to work on your spelling.

  • @batman9419 sorry i made a mistake on a few engines the 401was a v6 and the 478was also a v6 and so was the 351 was also a v6 but the 302 was a V6 and a V8 the most common one is a v8

  • you know.. im still trying to figure out what you did for the bellhousing in order to bolt the 302 to that Renault tranny...

cuz this is what I want to do!.... or probably a ford 2.3 turbo

do you have any pics? or info on the bellhousing?

  • it'S does stall like in the movie!

  • Dumbass needs to learn how to not stall it other than that sounds mean

  • that engine sounds horrible to me.. but hey that's opinion. i would just tune up the standard V6

  • DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT A FERRARI SOUNDS LIKE? lol idiot

  • damn, sounds like its running open headers..haha one mean sounding Delorean. Doc would be proud!

  • If they ever remake Back to the Future, which I think they should, the car should sound like a V8. New and improved, but it still has to be a Delorean, or people will scream product placement. Which the Delorean ironically was lol.

  • more like open block haha....

  • Personally if I was going to put a Ford motor in a DeLorean...i'd make it a DOHC Cobra motor. The idea that someone can do that I think is awesome. However the idea that redneck boy farmer john here, stuffed what came out of his Lincoln in the back is just sad. Is he just too lazy to not get the carb running right?

Then with that last turn around "302 :-D"...don't ever do that again.

  • it's a 302 because the 4.6L wont fit, being about the same size a the 427/428/429 block, its just a pain is the ass to do conversions with.. 5.0L are bullet proof, yuo can rev em to shit and the last for 200,000miles doin it.. modular is shit, pushrod all the way, only ran into a handfull of 4.6L faster then my stang, but chance is there turbo or sc.. which im waitin for my turbo kit.. goddamn border

  • Woah woah, are you seriously comparing the size of a 281 modular small block Ford, to being the same size as a 427/428/429 Big block Ford?!?

No offense intended, but do you actually know what you're talking about? Like have you ever actually ripped one of those motors out and compared sizes?

And in all actuality here...4.6's are built with a lighter/weaker bottom end, so you can actually rev the shit out of them more than a pushrod. I like pushrods as well, but mods are more economical IMO

  • yes i am compairin the size of engines. and actualy yes i have seen the motor side by side out of car. i work for SSC motorsports in BC. we specialize in n/a bigblock foxbodies, but have wrenched on my fairshare of 94 an up's. you are right about them being of light weight, just because it 's cast aluminum, not nodular cast iron like the 5.0L.. making the block bigger. any bone stock 302 ive driven vs. bone stock 281. the only positive on the 4.6L is it has top end, 302 get gutless above 4500rmp

  • Modular 281's are not the same size as big blocks.Bore and everything, yes 5.0's and big blocks are of course bigger, but general size of the motor, a 281 is a 281, and its not as big as a big block. That'd be like saying a Mustang is the same size as a Super Duty. Plus, back to the original argument of size in the back of a delorean, a 4.6 gives you more hood clearance because the intake isnt so high. You say "its cast aluminum not iron, it makes the block bigger"?!? That doesn't make any sense

  • Also...where's this shop you work for? Tried typing it in on google, and nothing showed up. You'd think that a motorsports shop would try to get their name out there as much as possible and AT LEAST have a website. You don't really work for a shop do ya?

  • ill make three finnally points and im done with this stupid arguement..

    1) it is fraudulent, to post about, make a website, or slander and company that i dont own. i am also just a mechanic, there-for its is none of my concern that there is no website.. that is my boss's positions on wether or not to advertise.

2)cast aluminum has a lower melting point then cast iron, making the cast aluminum block much larger in size, but lighter weight then its predecessor, due to cylinder wall meltage.

  • 3)post a video, lets see your car mr know-it-all.. have you ever owned ford, cause if you really had any knowage about these engines, or enigne swaps, youd know fords bigblocks are all bassed from the boss 385 block, so they're smalled then people are lead to beleive and iwouldnt be typing right now.. im not hatin on you, but post sumthing, id like to see what you own, if anything at all..

  • Truth be told...I used to own a 97 Cobra. Did plenty of wrenching on it, and after doing some research apparently the DOHC blocks are about the same size as big blocks, maybe even a little wider. I had to contact my buddy for this one, so you're right on that.

But about the whole not having a website thing. EVERY shop in the states has a website 90% of the time. It just doesn't make sense to me to not have a website for a business that isn't going to give you ALOT of profit from the get-go

  • ....its something you gotta work at, and build clientele from. Having a website will help deffinetly and it will get your name out there. Also on top of that, tried doing a white pages search...such a business name didn't exist. Maybe you do work there, maybe you don't. You were right about the motor size, now as far as your reasoning behind it...I dunno because I know for sure DOHC blocks have STEEL sleeves in the block, so as far as "melting point" goes...is irrelevant

  • I think we can both agree that this has gone too far so we'll just leave it at that. I'm done

  • it isnt my business so drop it.. only thing i hafta add and it no negative is thanks for not being a child about being wronge like most people on youtube.. but when you make a post there is always goin to be someone that has more knoweldge on the subject, even i dont know everything(it would be nice, but ohwell)so this is done now.. thx you and have a good halloween!

  • it looks like u need new torsion bars too.

  • My fuckin gurgle sounds better than that heap of shite. I'll give you €200 for old times sake & be happy with that.

  • This car was on Ebay awhile back. He got the car to run but the engine was too powerful for a car that originally weighed 2700 pounds with the V6 engine. I hate when people screw up Deloreans by trying to do an engine swap. If you want a muscle car get something else. Although there is a gentleman in South Fl who put a 375 hp 3.0 liter turbo charged Toyota Supra engine in his Delorean.

  • The delorean was seriously underpowered. Engine swap is a valid step.

  • Putting a 302 into a delorean is retarded. There's lost of things you can do to make a fast one with the normal PRV v6. Just change the exhaust, ignition and cams, and you have an instant 197hp.

  • Tbh, if you watch the crash test. Going fast in a Delorean is not what you want to do. I would rather have it sound cool, but thats just me. :)

  • Mate, trust me, this doesn't sound good. Either this motor is fucked or the exhaust is just too short, but it sounds like a morris minor running on 3 cylinders.

  • How about instead he puts a decent v8 crate motor in it and gets 300 or so hp right off the bat. The delorean needed a better motor.

hosnatch, ditch the worn out truck motor it sounds terrible.

  • Weight. Time. Cost. Effort. Handling. V8s are not the answer to any of those problems. The PRV engine CAN be made powerful, more easily than wedging a windsor in there. There's no excuse.

  • @LLJKotaru You need to remember the engines were alright back then. The Delorean was designed to look expensive and sporty but be cheap enough for the average joe and be sensible enough for an everyday driver.

  • Yep acts like a ford too... LoL

  • I've seen the crash test videos on this car. Not exactly something I'd want to be pushing to the limit if you know what I mean.

  • Be a hellva lot easier to get it to 88 mph now

  • @shawnshawn426 That thing strugled to turn round its got no chance of getting to 88mph !!!

  • @shawnshawn426 Be careful now, you don't want to go time traveling. Hahahaha!

  • @shawnshawn426 Not really!, The Car Can Barely Stay on! lol

  • Lots of idiots posting on this one it seems. A ford 302 engine is one of the most solid and easy to mod engines out there. You can do whatever you want to the thing and it won't die, mod it with a few simple bolt ons and have crazy power, and they make every part in the world for it. Instead of dealing with a completely re done computer setup inside a delorean, a carbed 302 is a great choice and could run sub 12 in the quarter mile easily. Obviously it's not car people commenting on this one.

  • John DeLorean is rolling over in his grave right now, putting a ford engine in a DeLorean!

  • I hate how people who tune-up cars always crank it for 1/4th the time you should crank it and rev the engine until it stalls.

Apparently, this is the ONLY video of a 302 V8 Delorean. Looks like this project fell apart or something. I wonder what kind of transmission they used? Probably had trouble finding a transmission that could handle the power, thats my thoughts anyway.

  • This is why you don't put carburetor POS engines in cars anymore. EFI for the win!

  • exactly! I'm swaping an LS3 6.2L V8 on a DMC-12 I recently got. For first I was going for a Ford 4.6L DOHC supercharged V8 (exactly, the one found on the 03 SVT Cobra) but not a big deal because of the fit, so the big deal is the LS3 V8 that has an small block, so fits great, so I will have to make some modifies to manual trans, dif, suspension, bars, exhaust, etc.. to support the big 400HP

  • Exactly, I could pull much more power from an EFI than a carb setup any day of the week. I hope he has a good battery charger and plenty of spare starters on hand. lol

  • warm the shit up fuck especially the first time

  • 3 words: sounds like shit

  • Should have put in a 3800 Supercharged in that thing.

  • sounded very nice but you have to restart it too much

  • The engine is just cold. He didn't set the choke and/or reset it when he pressed the accelerator to back it up.

  • well how should i know but still i like the car its a nice car well i bet its a fast delorean

  • I wasn't trying to be a dick; I was simply telling you why it was doing that. People aren't used to seeing carbureted cars anymore.

  • oh no no no i know you werent trying to be a dick i was just saying how would i know cause i wasnt there but i know people arent used to seeing carbureted cars anymore well im used to it well i know this guy that has a delorean that has neon it looks ok but i still like it

  • Geez, it sounded like one of those toy cars that you pump with air to propel it.

  • looks and sounds like shit :) congratulations! PUT THE STOCK BACK IN!!!
