My car broke down on the highway today, i asked my towtruck driver to drop me off at the bar. SOMEONE played NRPS on the jukebox. I feel HONORED to have met Marmaduke before he passed. My Dad was wearing the BLUE NRPS leather hat. And Marmaduke was wearing a BLACK leather NRPS hat. (I remember like it was yesterday) Took a picture of them both. He will be missed forever.

Oh, God, I didn't know that John passed away. I did have the good fortune to catch the New Riders once with John- I'm sure there are folks here who saw them numerous times and in their heyday- and he had a great natural stage presence, along with that charming voice that fit the New Riders' tunes so perfectly. And, of course, there are the songs he wrote. Terrible. He wasn't past his early 60s, was he?

I grew up in the north bay (New Riders country) & to this very day I can still recall the way it actually felt back then. NRPS are the true real cosmic cowboys, They set the standard! I was saddened to hear Of Marmaduke`s passing & will always enjoy trheir work. A band like this is hard to comy by.
