  • Garden of Eden is in Burnside Kentucky

  • there aren' too many band with rock & roll western and slide hawaian stuff

  • Look at my Channel to see the real Garden of Eden. I'm the one who found it. It's location is in the Northwest section of Iran, not where everyone else is telling you to look.

  • My car broke down on the highway today, i asked my towtruck driver to drop me off at the bar. SOMEONE played NRPS on the jukebox. I feel HONORED to have met Marmaduke before he passed. My Dad was wearing the BLUE NRPS leather hat. And Marmaduke was wearing a BLACK leather NRPS hat. (I remember like it was yesterday) Took a picture of them both. He will be missed forever.

  • Almost 40 years later, and still can't get enough. Thank you NRPS for all the great years. That first album is still one of the best albums of all time. Amazing.

    RIP Marmaduke.

  • Great Video thx for sharing ahhhhhh this is what I call music :)

  • Spend some qualitytime with New Riders of the Purple Sage Together Again GARDEN OF EDEN one of the best film this year. watch it here: C9OOLF9REEM9OV9IE.9INF9O

  • Have always loved New Riders of the Purple Sage. I listened to my mom's record albums as a kid, and these guys were one of my favorites!

  • Thanks for this...never saw Johnny Live, but this was good....and lets not forget Bill Laymon on bass!!

  • Okay, is that Marmaduke? He once hugged me inappropriately at the Sweetwater! Let's just say the barstools are high, so was he...and he's short. ;-)

    Love him!

  • it's so sad to see Marmaduke so old and frail - he was a hell of a cool cat back in the days - a true cozmic cowboy

  • I bow my head low as another enters the greats in the celestial band.. rock away, brother marmaduke! New riders of the purple sage, Loved you then, love ya now.. we'll see ya in the garden!

  • @mothereruption1

Oh, God, I didn't know that John passed away. I did have the good fortune to catch the New Riders once with John- I'm sure there are folks here who saw them numerous times and in their heyday- and he had a great natural stage presence, along with that charming voice that fit the New Riders' tunes so perfectly. And, of course, there are the songs he wrote. Terrible. He wasn't past his early 60s, was he?

  • OMG, I had no idea John died. Saw New riders many many times in the 70's.

  • The best. I just saw these guys for the first time Spring 2009. Unfreekinbelievable. What a great sound and groove. The Nerps live shows are so underrated. RIP Duke.

  • I regret having never shaken Johns hand, only applauding him. God Bless his soul. Vince.

  • great song !

    thanks for the post !

we do live in the garden of eden...

  • hi, this is from Malaysia.NRSP is always one of my favourite band."Brujo" is my favourite album by NRPS.i dont have a vinyl player but recently i bought "brujo" at a flea market just to own it back!.the album cover is really nice.i can still remember evry tunes on it.

  • I grew up in the north bay (New Riders country) & to this very day I can still recall the way it actually felt back then. NRPS are the true real cosmic cowboys, They set the standard! I was saddened to hear Of Marmaduke`s passing & will always enjoy trheir work. A band like this is hard to comy by.

  • I always suspected Marmaduke was really "Henry"...R.I.P.

  • Great Stuff...

    RIP

    Peace.

  • What a beautiful, beautiful soul.

Thank you so much Marmaduke, may you rest in peace.

    We love and miss you.

  • Thanks for the great music, you old cosmic cowboy. RIP Duke.

  • rip duke :(

  • Thanks to all of you folks for such wonderful music, and especially for tapping into this vein here up and down throughout the Shenandoah Valley...many of us out here have waited YEARS to hear you guys! Clementine's In Harrisonburg, Va.!!!!

  • Shed a tear for the fate of the last lonely eagle, for you know that he never will land

  • John was a very dear friend...he'dlove to know everyone will continue to enjoy listening t his and all music...i'll miss him dearly...happy knowing, however that he is happy to be with wife Elanna again..:)..

  • Just heard the news from Barlow's twitter/facebook--'John "Marmaduke" Dawson of the New Riders of the Purple Sage rode out forever in Mexico this morning at 64. Panama's dead.'

  • R.I.P., John

  • The book is great.

  • his voice reminds me of Tom Petty.

  • I saw them open for the Dead on 12/5/71 and again on Thanksgiving night of '72. amazing shows!

  • i missed these cats on 420 sorry i did

  • too bad spencer dryden coundnt play this gig on 01. RIP Spencer. 1938-2005

  • Yes, but Spencer was in the house that night as a spectator!

  • @bsarles another true 'Ol Dinosaur...that Garden sure has one heck of a House Band now.

  • I remember cruising around with my Mom when I was a little girl, listening to music and this was one of her favorite bands. My fav tune from them is: Should Have Seen Me Running. I love the mellow beat.

  • My mom was on the Ray Charles and Nat King Cole Stuff...i was on NRPS but never could see them live (Belgium was Zimbabwe those days) but sure they were good. Along with Barefoot Jerry and The Byrds they took Country music out of the truck with the help of the magic mushromms...

  • Still got it....strum away

  • Sweetwater is a magical venue. Wish I could've

been at this gig. All the Bay Area legends

play or jam here from time to time. Buddy Cage

is truly in the stratosphere here.

  • These dudes ruled in the 70's and good to see them make music now, life is good. ;)

  • The guy on the Lap Steel Guitar is unreal !

  • Buddy Cage, Pedal Steel (Lap steel has no pedals or knee levers, but it's all I can manage; and that on a good night...)

  • @l2string you meant pedal steel, right?

  • Shitting myself watching Dave Nelson in front of you undeserving, i just heard about them, LOSERS. How about some audience interaction?! This isn't a Neil Young concert...

  • Hypnotic and beautiful, this is the kind of tune I could listen to all day. I've been fortunate to hear NRPS live twice and look forward to whatever they do next.

  • really a cool, timely statement on not only what was goin' down then, but what...

  • Cool band...

  • co sta canzone puoi viaggià all infinito..-ale-

  • my fav new riders tune is, a good good women drinks with the boys good tune you have to be oldschool to know that one lmfao

  • I love these folks! Please keep swingin', beautiful people!

  • buddy cage is the morning dj on sirius jam on

  • yyyeeeeeeaaaaah!

    bob sarles rocks!

    so do the NRPS!!!

    what an awesome night!

  • hey! hey! i thought the riders were around somewhere

  • Let's see: there's John Dawson, David Nelson, and Buddy Cage; I guess that's Bill Laymon on Bass; who wast he drummer and and other guitarist for this reunion?

  • they had Brent Rampone on drums. No other guitarist.

  • Great video of a great band..if you like them check out also "Marshall Tucker Band"

  • All's i Know is that my dad love s this band!!

  • Your dad has great taste. Check out nrps(dot)net

  • @forijking your dad is a man of great musical wisdom

and all NRPS alum for the performances.

  • More NRPS please!!!

  • DAMN this brings back memories! (Well...what little I remember of the 70's!) For me, high school in the 70's largely consisted of NRPS tunes and smoking weed. Man, this video took me back 35 years in time! Thank you for posting this!
